      I was bullied in elementary school for my name and my butt. I was also the kid that would get asked out as a joke. Then in middle school that happened again except its when the sexual harassment started and I was unlucky enough for that kid to go to the same high school as me and he kept doing it even though I told him to stop multiple times. We have a lot of mutual friends and I was scared to come forward. When I was in high school I joined njrotc since all my brothers did it I wanted to keep it going. One of my upperclassmen would tell the kids in my year to look at my butt while I would stretch for PT and would mock things I said. My brother was a senior the time I was a freshmen and I waited until I dropped out to tell him what was happening and he wished I went to our master sergeant because he wouldn't have let it side even the kid that wasn't in njrotc. Since he was there for my 2 older brothers and me he kind of had a special spot for all of us and looking back I REALLY wished I went to him. To me I think it could've saved me from dropping out.

    I'm from india and up until 8th grade i was made fun of for my dark colour even though we are all literally the same race. Colorism is an issue but no one really speaks up about it because most of them don't realise that they are treated differently because of their colour because we are all the same race you know. But i realised how even my teachers acted different to me. My classmates stopped teasing me after 8th grade but the teachers was still going on up until i graduated. Even though i told my gf(she has a very white skin) about it, she didn't really believe me and i told her to think about a dark kid in her class and that was when she realised what i was saying is true.

    • @lexvt3551
      @lexvt3551 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yeah, it's sad. It happens in a lot of Asian cultures, but even I as a Puerto Rican see that a lot in Hispanics. Hell, even black people. Dark people and light people even of the same race/ethnicity/nationality often fight and have disputes, and if you're in the minority (pale with all dark or dark with all pale) you're gonna get treated differently. Sometimes it's actually good - my dad's side is basically white Puerto Ricans and they like my tanner skin because they're so pale - however sometimes I'm made fun of by, for example, my mom's fiancé for being light and told I have slave owner ancestry, despite all Puerto Ricans being a mix of native Taino, African slaves and Spanish slave holders. It really just depends but we definitely focus too much on color.

    As a former person who was bullied, I can tell yall why bullies are so proud about it. Because it was a time when they had power over someone else or self esteem. A lot of them describes this as a surge or even a drug. Also since I was bullied wherever I went, I can also tell you that sometimes, you cause the bullying by being weak. What I mean by that is that if you did your thing, told people to shut up if they upset or just slapped someone who come to your face, it all would have been fine.
    The bullying stopped altogether in my life when I reach 15 years, when I had enough and made my bully bleed and knocked him on the ground infront of all my highschool. Nobody ever touched me again after that.

    I was bullied on 10th grade because of my body odor, I still remember the scenario when I got home that day, I was doing my homework in Math when suddenly my tears fell down, I can't seem to forget what my bully told me, I used to like that person on 9th grade. I knew I smell bad, the thing here is, I always take a shower but I still smell awful. I found out the problem is my uniform but I don't know how to fix it, and even if I wash my clothes for so many times it's still the same.
    I was once again bullied on 12th grade because of the same reason, right now I am almost 21 years old and I still have the same problem, I am scared to interact with people because I sweat a lot, that's why I always make sure I use clothes that doesn't make me smell bad, but sometimes the problem persist, I don't have much clothes, about 20 only (I think) because I still have no job to buy new ones.
    Every time I sweat, it gives me anxiety- it scares me that what happened on 10th and 12th grade might happen again.
    What I wish in the future is for people to be open when it is about something like this, probably it wouldn't scar if only they nicely said that I have a body odor but instead what they did was they walked towards me, whisper, letting me and their friends hear it and laugh out loud.

I am a reserved and overall “sweet” person and I never had the courage to stop them because I was too afraid to find myself without any friends. They would pick on anything (weight, grades etc), but mostly on my Italian accent (I’m from Italy). I spoke to another friend about it and she absolutely downplayed it and made me feel like I was too sensitive. I still haven’t recovered and I am super aware of how I sound when I speak English. My overall self-esteem is below zero. I try to avoid speaking to native english people as much as I can because I find it very embarrassing (even though my grammar is perfect). I still don’t understand why they chose to pick on me and it really bothers me, because it makes me feel weak.

    I did both: bully kids and get bullied.
    But sadly, i didnt consider any of it bullying. Whether i got bullied, or bullied people, i thought of it as teasing, joking, being playful, etc.

    Ive been bullied three times my entire life....and all of my bullies either left crying or bleeding. My dad had me fight my first bully In preschool, it was a boy and he wouldn’t stop touching me . My mom kept telling me to tell on him, which I did and the teachers did nothing. So my dad told me to beat him up. I hit him in the mouth when he came over to harass me and his tooth came out. Ever since that incident any bully who has ever tried to bully me has cried because I hurt their feelings or bled because I punched them in the mouth☺️

    Hi, it’s me, I’m the hairy child.
    I was bullied for YEARS, for being overweight, having lots of body hair, having last seasons “trendy” clothes - we would buy the brands at goodwill because that shit is expensive, I was spit on - kids can be NASTY. I can’t imagine going back to elementary/middle school now, especially since today all the things I was bullied for are celebrated. Of course bullying still happens, but I wonder how different it was even 10 years ago. Here I am happy as a clam growing from the years of trauma and trying to be my best self. Celebrate you no matter WHAT anyone else says.

    100% relate to the eczema one, I had eczema on my lips which was so hard to cover and people would just call me “crusty lips”.
    Pretty traumatizing . But I’m not friends with those people anymore, thankfully. Since people have masks cuz of COVID I’m somewhat relieved that I can cover it up now.

  • @ayvahbell

    Okay some advice. You want revenge? There’s only one that’ll solve the issue. Ignore them. I know it’s hard but listen. People ONLY do stuff for a reaction. They want to you react. If you ignore them, walk as if you own the place, and put a smile on your face. That’ll be the best revenge possible. They’ll get mad when they realize that it didn’t affect you. So yeah it’s hard to ignore them. But try. See I used to not be able to ignore anyone because idk why but I started wearing a hair tie on my wrist and anytime people did something I’d look at that and it reminded me to ignore them. You are the main factor in bullying. If you stop reacting, they’ll stop bullying.

    • @GreenIeaf
      @GreenIeaf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I tried that at first... But then the bullying just became physical to get a reaction out of me (pushing, hair pulling, throwing stuff, grabbing my stuff and throwing it down the stairs, destroying my bike etc). So maybe it works for some, but it sure didn't work for me.
      Teachers are btw damn useless, before anyone starts saying WHY DIDNT YOU. If all the kids deny it or make another story up, they give the bullies the benefit of the doubt time and time again.
      What helped ME was having to redo a year, so I got into a new class.

    • @ayvahbell
      @ayvahbell 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GreenIeaf I agree. I had a friend who started getting shoved in stairwells because she tried to ignore them. For this situation, try this. So ask them why they do it. And most of them will simply say “cause I hate you” or “cause I want to” but you’ll have two options. 1. Make it fun and start teasing them but in a funny way to where you are both having “fun”. Or 2. Say this: why would you do this if you hate me? Think of bananas. Some people love them. Others hate them. The people who love them will eat them. And the people who hate them will stay away from them. Now think of me as a banana. The people who love me, should give me attention and affection. The people who hate me, SHOULD go along with their day but instead here you are going OUT of YOU OWN way to do this. It’s not nice affection, but it’s still affection. It makes me think.. you have to love me a little bit.” The banana one works best for me and my friends. It makes them look like an idiot. But you never were mean back. If you are rude back, it’ll never stop. And maybe it will but if it does, people will most likely be scared of you and hate you. Just use kindness. But the good kind. Hope this helps! Let me know

    I have been bullied my entire life! From my weight, skin color, being bipolar, being bisexual, my middle name (BlueEarth)....the worst was my stepmother she was so harsh on me and it was constant! My dad did nothing to stop it....it was rough...I feel bad for anyone that has been bullied! Right now my boyfriend's brother is constantly calling me a "n****r" and it doesn't stop...bullying did a lot to my fragile mind...I started self harming and abusing alcohol and drugs...
