    There are pros and cons to each brush. I'm against the slater of animals to simple produce a product. I was raised to make full use of animals used for food and that no part of it should be wasted. And this is how it's always been with my family and my people. As a wildlife biologist, the issue I have with synthetics is the fact that we don't need more plastics in our environment, we already have rivers and streams chocked with plastics and there are massive 80,000+ ton islands of plastic floating in our oceans and kill whales, dolphins, sea turtles and other marine life. I'm keeping the 6 badgers, 3 synthetics and 5 boar brushes I have. And any new brush will be boar's hair shaving brushes.

      And for all of us that are being used and killed? This is life, this is the planet. There is a natural balance. And for synthetic and plastic stuff - it does not conform very good in all of this circle (not naturally recycled). But man must have a common sense.

  • @danh9922
    @danh9922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    One downside that is often forgotten for synthetics. Is once it needs to be dispose unlike the badger hair brush which will decomposes naturally into the environment. The synthetic will become a forever plastic and contaminating the environment. While it maybe a byproduct of the oil industry. It still financially aids them. At least boar hair brush are a byproduct of wild boar meat unlike badger brushes.

    Don't get me wrong: I'm not a vegan, not even a vegetarian. And yet I always look hard with most of the products that I buy to find animal-free products that offer a comparable quality, e. g. when shopping shaving creams and soaps, brushes etc. And in most cases, there are animal-free products available that offer at least the same, often even a better quality or improved features. I used badger brushes for most of my shaving "career", simply because synthetic brushes 35 or even 10 years ago didn't offer the same lathering qualities and ease of handling than badger brushes. But that changed with the advent of the Silvertip Fibre and other great synthetic hair, and ever since I switched to synthetic brushes, I haven't looked back.

I am really impressed with synthetic brushes, so much so that I have already ordered a second one, the new one is very densely packed contrary to the first one.
