  • On any given day, having all of these hundreds of international shipping containers 193-feet BELOW sea level would be a bad day, but here on the Union Pacific in the Salton Sink, it's just another day of business as usual.
Union Pacific C44ACM 6924 leads 227-cars across the Salt Creek railroad bridge, built by the South Pacific (espee 😉👍) in 1922. This is located just east of Ferrum, California. The GPS in my truck showed -204 feet below sea level, but a Google source says it is -193 feet.
Keep an eye out for the open container doors just before the block of auto racks. Obviously the breaking-in of those boxes continues.
    Please 👍. Thank you, enjoy

Thanks, Dave! Next time, I hope to get a better angle of the bridge which still has a large Southern Pacific painted on the side. 🤠👍

Thanks, but this wasn't my intended vantage point. There still is a large Southern Pacific painted on this bridge, and I stood out there in the heat for probably 45-minutes waiting for a train to come for that shot including the Southern Pacific. Finally, I gave up and started driving out of there...and of course, that is when I see the train coming. I quickly whipped the truck around and went back as far as I could before the train caught me. And I forgot about hot phone syndrome. I got the hot phone warning about 1/3 into the train. I'm lucky I was able to get the whole train.

Fantastic footage of the big haul coming through the desert... Stacks, Racks and more Stacks on this monster. Loved the location as well. Great video Scotty !!

Thanks Richard! It was a very close race that I nearly lost! I sat out there in the heat for at least 45-minutes just waiting for something to come. I finally gave up and started driving out...and then I saw the train flying my way! I had to whip the truck around and race over very rough rocks imbedded in the sand and I still had to jump out and get the shot. The phone didn't like my standing in the heat for so long either. I got the phone is too hot warning pretty quickly. Thanks, bud! 🤠👍

@@espeescotty Yeah the things we do to get the shot. I’ve had my phone shut off right in the middle of shot before and I wasn’t happy either. Have a good one bud and stay safe out there !!👍🏼

@@backalleyrailroading2835 Hahaha...we might need to strap ice gel packs to our phones to continue getting the shots through our summer. 🤠👍

That was a TRAIN< NO doubt! And people think it ought to stop on a dime. I never liked flying and going over a bridge on a set of tracks would scare me to death! It's 32 to 3400 feet above the salt here. It'll take a while for my noggin to wrap it up that it's below alomst 200 below it there. HAPPY OFF DAYS to you, My Friend and PHOTOG! The BEST to you!

Yes, it was a surprise just as I was leaving after being out in the heat for at least 45-minutes without getting the train I had hoped for. I was driving out and then I saw it bearing down on me, obviously at high speed. I barely got this shot. And it is kind of a mind boggle to know that it actually is 200+ feet below sea level. It just seems like water would just be able to get in somewhere. Still pretty cool... even if it does get very hot there. Thanks, bud!

@@espeescotty You get another dandy award for that one! Sunny today as the rain ran off last night. 3/4 of an inch and just enough to wash the pollen off, settle the dust and make the grass grow! Job security! Happy whatever is going on with you day and hope the best for you all along!
