      I have access to the GPT-4 Api and those token prices shoot up like crazy. A task that would previously cost me cents, now costs me dollars.
      The 8k tokens is a godsend, it feels good when you can just copy your entire document and paste it without thinking about what to omit. I’m still waiting for the 32k version. That would be insane!
      Insanely chewing my wallet!

    ChatGPT is a product that’s built in-top of GPT3/3.5/4
    GPT- is an actual one of several models (and it got many versions so we can say it’s a family of models )

      I would say more specifically GPT is an architectural paradigm of generative sequential models. But OpenAI’s GPT lineup is a family of models, i.e. GPT-J also exists and that follows the architectural paradigm of GPT but is not in the family of models that you are referring to here, which OpenAI develop.

      Wrong. GPT 3.5 is built upon GPT 3. ChatGPT was built using GPT 3.5. And then GPT 4 came out AFTER ChatGPT.

    I used GPT4 to make a bit of JavaScript that flipped team images on a client website. Got the job done in a quarter of the time it would have taken without, but... It's first iterations utter trash. It still took revisions and knowledge of JS to guide and fine tune.

    I try Chat GPT on my web development and I don't know why the heck it fail to give me the result what I'm hoping for. I don't know if my instructions is off or I am just lack of documentation on it. If it is failing on me? What about the other wannabe who is pretending to be a programmer or who just don't want to read the documentation that is looks like not make any sense?

      I find it's good at writing simple steps, but with complex problems it often overlooks a crucial part of your design. It's good for getting ideas if you're stuck though

      No, I don't think you should stop learning how to program or rather how to design software. No matter how smart GPT gets, there are still people required to understand what it spits out and you must still think about what it should do. You get to be the software architect, GPT builds the code.

      There are 2 versions of gpt-4. The 8k version and the 32k version. The 8k has 0.03/1k prompt and 0.06/1k completion. The 32k bumps it up to 0.06/1k prompt and 0.12/1k completion. And for context chatgpt api costs 0.002/1k.
      Currency conversion uses dollars. So convert whatever currency you use to dollars.
      If you use the 32k tokens version. Making the model generate 25,000 words will cost you about 3.6 dollars.

      Learn to code the old fashioned way. Chat-GPT isn't able to solve many coding problems quite yet.

    Except that it doesn't really know what it's doing, it's just collecting information and displaying it, so the code it generates rarely works unless it's really really simple, you need to be a programmer to tweak what it gives you to function

      Not exactly. What ChatGPT and GPT-4 really do is to try to predict what would be the best and most compatible answer to give depending of the input it has been given.
      For example, if I say to ChatGPT "Hello There", it may conclude that the answer that fits the most to my input would be "Obi-wan Kenoby!". It's not really just collecting information, but also analyzing it and choosing what sticks to what.

    He have a lot of mistakes as well,and the big pb is when he reach at the end of conversation and you have to start a new chat or refresh,he is like a old man with Alzheimer,you need to rerwite him again from the start,and surprise,after he helped you,he can tell you he can't help you 😂like another personality,even he is impersonal

      Are you sure you're using the official ChatGPT? There is no app for it, only their page. I've seen many people download the "app" and get confused why it's not as good as they heard it was.

      College definitely isn't worth it, do a trade. AI can't get you there, and you can earn good money right away.
