You cruising at 4500 and 5000rpm. Thats something I'm not brave enough to do in my 550i. Not until I replace my rod bearings anyway LOL.
What are you to switch to ? I’m looking to change mine
Is rod bearings all you have to replace? Like the crankhub on f80. Because I've heard of many motors just blowing up randomly
@@jayy7712 rod bearings are not a common issue on the N63TU, not sure about the non-TU tho.
I got a non tu and have it tuned by n63intake on a stage 3 with burbles and it’s been doing good lol for the past couple years. I’ve put like 20k hard miles on it with the tune at like 80k miles now knock on wood. Guess I’m the lucky one because I’ve met guys on their third engine 😂😂
havent seen the rpms drop since the beginning of the video pray for that n63

Hey man I have a 2014 550i M Sport and was just wandering for the kidney grilles did you just pull them straight out or did you have to pull the bumper apart? Just ain’t trying to break anything yk.
Just pull them out. They snap back into place when you push it back in.
I just pulled mine out and the bottom 2 clips ripped off. oh well.
Are you on 2.5 bar T-Map sensors or 3.5 bar??
Want one so bad but I hear the n63 is one of the least reliable bmw engines. What kind of mileage can you expect to start see problems?

Hey, i semi live in the area and was wondering who did the tune for you?
Really considering switching my e60 535i to a f10 550i, what are the worst of the n63 issues and things to look for?
Seals yk gaskets, rod bearings and if you don’t maintain it well the engines can sometimes blow up but with good maintenance you should be able to get it up to 150k+ miles

Had mine for a year now. COOLING COOLING COOLING!! Invest in the N63 sport oil cooler valve, installed mine first week. Get the 85 degree thermostat. As well. Change oil every 3500-5500 miles with 5W-40 synthetic oil.
All the gasket/seal/o-ring/rod bearing issues that people mention are from late oil changes with thin oil and excessively hot oil temps with little cooling. If you do buy one, change all fluids day one and check the engine bay for any brittle plastic pieces and replace em before they brake instead of waiting for em to brake. If you don’t wanna spend on preventative maintenance, don’t bother.
@@AYO_KOI have a question? How much does preventive maintenance cost every time you take it in? Is it a set amount or does it just depend ?
@@Alexlegusta it’s not necessarily a fixed amount, but to put it in perspective, I did front/rear diff fluid, transfer case fluid, transmission service, power steering fluid, changed PCV hoses, and added the thermostat all in one visit. Labor cost me $1k and the parts needed fluid were maybe $600.

To put candid tho, the transmission service alone at BMW will run you about $2500-3500 EASILY!! I am lucky enough to goto my guy that has his own shop and has BMW service tech experience for over 4 years, not including all the other experience he has with BMW and other brands.
are turbos worth it and how much psi you running?
well the car comes with it already all is needed is some upgrades and a tune to make more power i plan on getting one this year at least 2015 plus from what ive heard and seen
to be more reliable

I want one but have heard mixed opinions on the reliability. How bad is it?
My engine return line just broke randomly which wasnt a big issue. Upon getting that fixed it stretched my timing chain even though I shut it off immediately when I got a check engine light and had it towed, never turned back on until after it was fixed. So $9000 repair to fix that chain I just got rid of it…

Are these Shuenk OEM+ Turbos? I heard that at 700whp on them they tend to max out on the safe limit side of the turbos. I am currently interested in getting a pair for my N63T 550i and would like to aim for the 700whp mark as well.
Confused as well as a member of the FB group and interested in getting these, I think 700whp approaches the safe limit and maxes out the CFM of these turbos as far as I know. I’d love to see how these dyno with some decent PSI added to them regardless.

@@LeatherRestI think it can handle more than 700, the limiting factor is the zf8 transmission at 700hp, or so I’ve heard.
