The original black and white 3DSs had a glitter coating on the transparent shell over the paint, while the second releases didn't have the glitter coating and thus don't shimmer.
The 10th fact I honestly found to be really interesting. It wasn’t until I played Super Mario Sunshine on SM3D all stars back in 2020 that I realised the Mario font had been updated, and for 10 long years I had never noticed the two different Mario fonts on the Galaxy 2 case.
This was too short, I want more random ass info like this! I figure it would be hard to find any more so no rush of course. Great video man, I also like how you started off with the swapdoodle app jingle and the in-app song :]
I have like more than 30 useless facts stockpiled for the future so there will definitely be more episodes coming, and likely with varying lengths! I'm doing these as a shorter length than my usual stuff to hopefully have them be more regular releases while also letting them be binged in the future lol
About the colors of the 3DS, the “space” ones have a noise effect throughout the console, the “clear” ones are a solid color… it is possible to appreciate the difference ;D
Number 9 is my all time favorite fact in this video. As a kid, I always wondered why some cartridges had the hood exhaust like scoop versus the long oval design. I never really considered looking up the reason but seeing the answer here makes me so happy.
If nintendo could do differ sounds depending on how you could tap on the screen, they could've made different notification sounds for low battery, when a friend is online, and other notification types.
FINALLY!!!! as someone who's been in the nintendo fandom since the early 2010s (with 2015-2019 being my peak years in it), i was completely expecting this to just be stuff like "did you know the nintendo 64dd exists?!", "did you know the wii had a food ordering app in japan called the demae channel!?", and other pretty well known stuff, but NOPE! this is actually stuff that, with the single exception of the black wii balance board, i didn't know!!
NSMB2: GE feels like such a non-nintendo idea. Like. Whens the last time youve seen nintendo release a different *edition* that was actually called such (i.e MK8DX doesnt rly count)
The US eject button on the SNES is pretty flimst in all fairness, I imported a machine and sliced skin off my finger on the bottom of the plastic the first time I sed one. The PAL/Japanese eject button is far more robust.
wow, I am genuinely shocked I only knew one of these, although the one I knew was the switch home screen one and thats only because I'm always in handheld mode. Good job!
Bonus Nintendo fact - NSMB 2 Gold Edition was sold as NSMB 2 Special Edition in Europe and was only ever available as a preloaded game with select consoles, most commonly, later revisions of the 2DS. It is otherwise the same as the Gold Edition with the same gameplay alteration.
Excellent trivia, I don't think I knew any of this before! Thanks for sharing, I live for this sort of random trivia lmao I didn't even know there WAS an old versus new Super Mario font.......
Here's some useless trivia I only discovered last week after owning the switch since launch. Going into sleep mode whilst in Notifications, Album or any of the subpages on the Switch menu will give you a unique start screen when woken up depending on where you were.
@@2-Way_Intersection Well, unique in a way that it just shows the icon of the menu you were on. I can't imagine many people have ever decided to sleep mode on the notification page afterall. Useless trivia!
Every time I would use my finger with my switch I was always like “huh the noise for touching the background sounds different” so it’s reassuring to know I’m not going insane
Y'know, if there was anyone I could count on to make a video going over obscure pieces of Nintendo knowledge that are genuinely not well known and not stuff like ''did you know Nintendo started off as a card company?'', it would be you, Akfamilyhome. I for one welcome this new series of yours! It's great to learn a couple new things here; I had no idea Wii Balance Boards came in non-white varieties, for instance.
In #2 you HAVE to tell everybody that the switch has different sounds when they tell you to press 3 times "a" figures you can press other buttons and it makes different sounds.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that; I figured that out because I used to use my Pro Controller to play PC games (Nowadays, I use my Xbox Series X controller instead), and when you connect it to PC through Steam, the light around the home button lights up. Still not sure what the actual purpose of it was, though.
I’m not sure if this will count, but if you set an alarm for Ring Fit Adventure, the console will alert you through vibrating every right Joy-Con connected to the console, and flashes the alert light.
my friends have forced me to play swapdoodle and its theme wont get out of my head help :( in all seriousness i love quick niche fact videos like this and your april fools video, and id love to hear more about them!! the one niche fact i have is that if you make a new folder on a 3ds, the numbers are not the same numbers you can type on the keyboard
Woa woa i didn’t knew that later model 1 revisions of the us snes do lack a locking mechanism,i trough that only snes jr systems did lack such mechanism, Now i was aware that nintendo did removed that locking feature on later snes cartrides, but still,,, i personally do believe that nintendo especially did this to save on extra costs.
I'm going to host a trivia night with prizes based on what's covered in this video just to make the "useless" part of your title misleading. Then you'll be labelled as a clickbaiter and I'll be one step closer to world domination.
I had a red Mario and Luigi 3ds xl with gold Edition on it. Bamed it Theodore. Have no clue why. I was 10. Theodore was smashed with a mallet in 2021. I now am 15 and have a standard black 3ds xl thats missing its ass and his name is Tyrone.
The original black and white 3DSs had a glitter coating on the transparent shell over the paint, while the second releases didn't have the glitter coating and thus don't shimmer.
Damn beat me to it
AK: "idk you tell me"
You: ok, bet
i love the glimmer
There's also two different Flame Red 3DSes with a similar distinction. The sparkly one came bundled with Super Mario 3D Land.
Finally, a video about Nintendo facts that I actually didn't know about and not "DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE VIRTUAL BOY?!?!?"
"People liked to just pull their SNES games out without hitting the eject button."
Absolute savages. I could never. I care about my 16-bits!
Who intentionally pulls a cartridge out while the power is on??
@@OtakuUnitedStudio Absolute savages, like I said. Monsters within the skin of man.

FINALLY! Top 10 Nintendo Trivia You NEVER Knew 2
Something that may seem useless but was actually useful to me:
The New 2DS XL uses the exact same speakers as the Switch Lite
The 10th fact I honestly found to be really interesting. It wasn’t until I played Super Mario Sunshine on SM3D all stars back in 2020 that I realised the Mario font had been updated, and for 10 long years I had never noticed the two different Mario fonts on the Galaxy 2 case.
The Space 3DS has sparkles (resembling stars) and a gradient from dark grey to black, while the pure black one doesn't.

Brb gonna aggressively poke my switch
I can’t express how badly I need a hundred parts to this series
glad to see didyouknowgaming going back to facts videos after 2 years
If nintendo could do differ sounds depending on how you could tap on the screen, they could've made different notification sounds for low battery, when a friend is online, and other notification types.
They also did all that the 3ds does.. on a 3ds
I don't see how an area sensitive screen changes how pathetic the switch home menu is

Question is, is that our fault for being terminally online?
God I wish the green 3DS came out
I wish the orange one came out
Nintendo 3DS Shrek Edition
NSMB2: GE feels like such a non-nintendo idea.

Perhaps the reason they say not to connect two GB players is due to electrical potential differences that could be between the two players.

Also SMG2 came with a tutorial DVD in the EU and UK.
Because I guess we were not smart enough to figure out the game ourselves…
every time i see the gameboy player i get psychic damage over the fact my family sold ours to gamestop for a microscopic amount of store credit 😔

Here's some useless trivia I only discovered last week after owning the switch since launch. Going into sleep mode whilst in Notifications, Album or any of the subpages on the Switch menu will give you a unique start screen when woken up depending on where you were.
...n-no? Its the same start screen and it just plays the menu sound when you open it.
Thats not exactly "unique"

Glad to see that April Fool’s video became the Bedrock for a possibly new series.
I never knew there were two Mario fonts, but it makes sense now that you mention them.
Fun fact: There's an official parody of a Christmas Carol by Nintendo. This was an episode on the Wii-era Nintendo Week Show.
Ngl that 3DS is a really unappealing shade of orange
i love all the dsi love in this video
Every time I would use my finger with my switch I was always like “huh the noise for touching the background sounds different” so it’s reassuring to know I’m not going insane

Now I want some useful Nintendo trivia! Some Nintendo trivia that will help me find a job, get a loan, raise a family!
The original 3DS is such a good looking handheld.
Holy shit I never even paid attention to the touch screen on switch. I pretty much only use it when I'm typing
I'm really looking forward to more of these, this video is great.

There's a Black Wii Balance Board!?
If i could i would spout trivia and talk about video games non stop. Really hope i find someone that feels the same or likes listening too that stuff.
As someone who’s favorite color is green and who’s favorite system is the 3DS, the fact the green model was never released pisses me off
The homebutton on the switch can light up. But i guess nintendo never used this feature for notifications

That's MM.
1:00 There was a 2017 Nintendo World Championship?!?!
Yes, Nintendo revived the event back in 2015 and 2017 as a part of their pre-E3 events.
Wait, they came out with a DSi xl? I swear I don't remember that existing.
