    I've seen numerous ghillie suit videos, and by far you're has been the best presentation and tutorial toward making it blend in with natural surroundings with those sneaky leaves, lol.
    I've been wondering something, and I would like your thoughs if you don't mind. There are many videos out there which utilize glueing netting onto a jumpsuit (which is what I use so I can crawl/creap backwards without my shirt getting pulled up) to make a ghillie suit. However, I'm wondering if you couldn't just make a ghillie suit pull over out of just the netting. This way, you can make multiple pull over net ghillie suits for various seasons or locations, to put on top of what ever camo clothing you are wearing at any given season, and it would be much cheaper too while giving you a lot of flexibility. Your thoughts?

    • @Point6
      @Point6  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, pullovers are a legitimate tactic. There's a chap called 'Thr Covert Sartorialist' who dies just that and they work incredibly well.

      Hi. Glad you found it useful! If you search eBay/AliExpress etc for artificial maple leaf you'll find them. To colour them, personally I use idye poly. If you're in the US try rit dye. 👍

    I've been looking for techniques like this for decades to blend in to the natural surroundings. I live on the East Coast of the U.S.A., and none of the ghillie suits I've found to date blend in naturally to the forests, even when I stick branches of surrending vegetation onto it (which is a task in and of it self). Thank you for taking the time to show us this method. I look forward to more video tutorials from you like this. Perhaps one with pine in mind.

    • @Point6
      @Point6  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you found it useful. I'll have a think on the pines and see what I can come up with.

      @Opossum8tor 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Point6 Likewise, love the video. I'm also from the U.S. East Coast. Pine forests around here are where I need some help and techniques to deal with. It's a very interesting area where the dirt is actually quite sandy, covered with the reddish-brown of pine needles and dead leaves, and then further topped with the almost blue-green of coniferous leaves.

    • @Point6
      @Point6  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a tricky area pine forest and not one I have played in too often. Problem is they is often very little undergrowth so no matter what you use you just become a blob in an otherwise stark landscape.

    • @Musicalpa
      @Musicalpa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Point6 I agree. It's so easy to walk through the consentrated pine areas, then when I get to the woodlands sections it's hit or miss for ease of access. Some areas are so thick the only way through is climbing across fallen trees if you're lucky. Yet those darn deer and bear go through it like there's nothing in the way, lol.
      In the woodland areas around me we have a lot of thorn bushes, raspberry bushes, etc... How easily is it to get past such obstacles with a guilli suit, or do you find yourself having to just push through them with brute force?

    • @Point6
      @Point6  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Musicalpa It's time and game dependent. I have played some very skilled games against some of the best snipers the UK has and come out on top because i have moved carefully paying attention to the branches, the floor etc, making as close to zero sound as possible. But at times you just have to go full brown bear and smash through it. In a full on skirmish you can get away with it to get to a position that no skirmisher will ever attempt to get to and consequently never look for you in. Each option is equally valid and will net the right results, its all about applying your knowledge and experience in the right place at the right time.

    the only issue i have is with the zip ties which are too shiny in my opinion: if you have a lot of them on you, it starts to be noticeable, especially under the sun. What could be done to reduce the shining aspect of the plastic? i was thinking about face paint but maybe you have a better solution

    Are those leaves silk, polyester, or some other material?
    I ask in order to understand the staining capabilities.

    • @Point6
      @Point6  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, they are very high percentage polyester. The only die I found to work properly is idye poly. I believe there is another brand in the US too but I don't remember the name. Some use acrylic ink. I've tried this method but I find itvery time consuming and not as consistent as dye. I'd also suggest boiling them in clean water before anything. They are coated in starch which gives them the crunch. Boiling removes a lot of it

    • @Musicalpa
      @Musicalpa 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Point6 Thank you.
      As for dyes here in the USA, "Rit Dye" seems to be the go-to for coloring things, including polyester.
      With polyester, usually you need to dye it in boiling hot water with a concentration of salt added to the water with the dye for best results.
      I've just received my first leaf suit as a base, and 400 spring green maple leaves and raffia to build it up with for starters. Haven't got a gun yet, but I'm planning on getting a ICS CXP-MMR M4 Airsoft AEG DMR soon, perhaps next month.
      I'm very excited on many levels, but I'm really looking forward to the exercise and the self defense preparation, God forbid anything should develope where I'll need to defend myself and my family.

    • @Point6
      @Point6  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Musicalpa Rit Dye, that's the one. I would highly suggest just giving them a boil before you do any dying. It will make them much less crunchy

    How did you colour your leaves? And how long for

    • @Point6
      @Point6  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the batch here I used acrylic ink but I have since used idye poly in brown or green which I think is much simpler and the colour is better. Put your leaves in at different intervals to get different shades.
