Excellent video. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all turns out and what other modifications you make. I didnt realsie the engines didnt have the extra tubing on this version so you live and learn. Do you know at what point they where removed?
This review has a lot of info: www.starshipmodeler.com/real/sp_sat1b.htm The shields (aspirators?) over the outer engines were deleted after AS-202, as were the turbopump exhaust stubs for the inner engines (the 4 strakes) as the later S-1B stage inner engines had the turbopumps exhaust into the centre between the 4 engines. Also check this out: heroicrelics.org/info/saturn-i-and-ib/saturn-i-ib-turbine-exhaust.html
Hi Mike. A very hard kit to get hold of. Getting the old kit with the block I CSM is possible, the kit you have is as rare as hen's teeth, where did you get it? I had to buy the old kit, and a Saturn V with a block II CSM to complete mine. I used the New Ware mod kit to modify mine, Tomas' work is always first class. I'm trying to find another so I can build Apollo I, using New Ware's Apollo I mod kit.
I have the newer version with the corrected Block II CSM. I have had the kit for many years. New Ware makes good stuff. I have the RealSpace Models Apollo CSM/SLA upgrade resin kit, but decided not to use it.
@@spacecitymike I bought the RealSpace CSM/SLA as well, I was quite disappointed with it. I thought it was poorly cast and would have needed a lot of work to fix it.
Thank you for sharing Michael! I enjoy seeing your work
Looking good, Mike! This will be VERY impressive when it's finished!
