Imagine being forced into a marriage even when you love someone else, because your family says that the someone else isn't good enough. That's what happened to Mary. She cared for the man she had to marry, but she loved Arthur and held onto the ring he gave her. And Arthur loved her. He kept her photo by his bed all those years and was celebate. It is a tragic side story to the game. If only Arthur hadn't got TB .....
Thats right, she aint deserve all that hate, its just her family was against, she even requests to run away for Arthur , by the how Abigail talks about her she aint bad person as it seems
Kinda wish there was a alternate ending that isn't cannon where you could accept the offer to run away. If u do plays a nice scene then sends you back to the save before
1. Mary-beth wasn’t jealous of Mary, she is only concerned for Arthur 2. I never understood why Mary gets a lot of hate? She and Arthur clearly loved each other and Mary’s father and ofc Arthur’s way of life got in the way. 3. Her asking Arthur for help doesn’t mean she’s using him but it seems that she’s really desperate and couldn’t find anyone else to turn to. Plus maybe it’s her excuse for seeing Arthur again. To me the hate she gets almost seems as if her haters are jealous and want to be in her place and run away with Arthur. And that’s the only thing that would make sense
Mary openly insults Arthur after you help her in the first mission. That’s why. Sure, you can excuse her leaving him because frankly, it’s true that ain’t her fault- but she’s a woman who can’t keep her comments to herself. Lot of us men don’t like that, specially after you just save someone’s life on another’s behalf. Be safe y’all.
The reason for me that Mary Beth and the others comes to talk with Arthur about Mary is from fear that she might still be in his mind,it would be terrible for the gang if he decided to run away with her,in the other hand Abigail seems that she would support this idea thinking about Arthur's happyness in the process, she's the only one that say good things about Mary,I would pay to see a ending like this,it's so tragic that they can't be together seeing how much they love eachother 😔
I always help Mary, only because I love Jamie and the fact that Arthur acts like the father/big brother figure. He really likes that boy, he even tries to direct him to find a suitable job and he consoles him saying that thing about the better world. Also, you gain honor.
I only entertain her for the ability to play out the missions, same with Sadie at the end. All the while the reject option is quite the better option. Plus there's also an option in the theater with Mary that's a bit more obscure. If you focus/aim on her instead of the stage Arthur will get the option to make a move on her once, but it will lead to nothing.
i always choose to help Mary, because i was in a somewhat similar relationship, boy i love her, i studied, get a degree and made my mind to marry her, but her family didn´t like me, i wasn´t an outlaw, but was in a dangerous job before i met her and that made them kinda hate me, kinda fear me, was in a 4 year relationship with her, and like Arthur i also acknowledged that i and her couldn´t change, seeing Arthur reject to help her makes me remember that
Great video, thanks. I love that Arthur and Mary see a stage show while John and Abigail see a film. The passing of time reflects in the environment while Arthur’s just a memory, and a fading one at that.
Mary gets a lot of hate and while I do feel there is definitely a bit of emotional manipulation in some parts, I would say that is just her being so desperate and genuinely having no one else she can turn to. She isn't a terrible person and I think the game does make it clear that she and Arthur did genuinely love each other and they never stopped even after they broke up, just her father and Arthur's life got in the way. I think it makes their relationship one of the most human and realistic in the game. It is kind of funny how deep Grimshaw hates her though, I've only ever seen the first one. It's also pretty unclear what happened with Arthur and Abigail whether they were actually together or if Arthur just had this idea because John had left and never pursued it. And Mary-Beth's reaction to Arthur seeing her again is also pretty funny. Is that jealousy or just concern for Arthur? I think it could be both
I think Grimshaw thought that Mary would be enough to tempt Arthur away from the gang. Mary-Beth could well be jealous. However Abigail tells Arthur that Mary was always nice. I made me wonder if John and Abigail would double date with Arthur and Mary. I personally think Arthur thought he should marry Abigail to give Jack stability because John left then was a poor boyfriend/father on his return.
@@Nicola_Bailey Probably something like that. Susan is always going on about loyalty to the gang so I guess she thought being with Mary would distract Arthur. I feel like most of the gang have negative feelings towards her simply because how things went down with her broke Arthur's heart. I vaguely recall Abigail talking about her to him. In another life, I think she and John would have gone on outings with Mary and Arthur. I personally think there is some jealousy with Mary-Beth, there's a few instances where she scowls at the mention of Mary Linton and it's hilarious. Yeah I agree with you on Arthur in regards to Abigail. I always got the sense it was because John left but Arthur never acted on it before he came back to the gang.
I always liked that sub plot because you can see he almost pulled a John and ran away from the Gang but Arthur is too loyal to pull away. He has people he cares about and he loves them as much as he loves her. Those two world can’t compete so it was a love that could never be. She knows it and while she’s sad she can’t be with him she gets it. Arthur wishes he could leave but knows it’s not in him to walk away.
And to be fair, when Arthur rejected going and leaving with Mary my man was dieing from TB and with no cure he was on his way to die regardless. Had he left with Mary he would’ve regretted it because John would’ve died and he wanted to make sure John and his family were saved before he died
@@Firedocs well she was worried that her little brother was gonna kill himself or get killed and stated that he would only listen to Arthur and heard that he was around. But his brother mentions his offenses in a letter to Micah at Shady Bell. Near the swamp treasure near the graves. Not the one by the shack or the Pirate boat

Legend of the East outfit. You can get it by completing all 90 challenges, but it is supposed to be impossible to complete as arthur without mods as you need to go to new austin for the herbalist 9 challenge.
I think giving her one last fond memory and departing on somewhat nice terms is the good ending for their relationship with foresight. Just imagine if she did run away with him there and she had to go through and watch all the suffering Arthur goes through in the latter half of the game.
Mary Gillis sucks. Everyone sticking up for her is all "oh her dad didnt let her, and Arthur was an outlaw". Yes, she knew exactly what Arthur was when they met and during their relationship. It wasn't something that came out of the blue. AND she knew how her father would feel. BUT here's the thing, Mary Gillis is an adult, she doesn't need her dad's permission to get married. IF she really wanted to be with Arthur she could have joined the gang and told her dad, who was a raging ass, to go to hell. But for Mary what was important was making her abusive neglectful Dad happy and marrying into a normal household. Maybe she thought she could change him. In any case she left him for a "better" life. THEN when that falls apart she has the audacity to ask the only person she can think of who would probably help her, because she knew he loved her. I know some might flip the above script and say, "well why didn't Arthur leave the Gang for her?" Because he never intended to from the begining and was up front about it AND she had to know that. Unlike her Father, Arthurs "family" was actually built on helping and protecting eachother for the most part, and a man like Arthur would never abandon people he loved and owed so much to for his own happiness. You could say "well Mary would never leave her Father" and I'm like why not, he suuuuuucks, he's abusive, a gambler, and a drunk. Well maybe she stayed for Jaime, to which I say Jaime is a grown man, and doesn't need his big sis taking care of him, and even if he did thats still not a reason she would stay with her broke abusive dad. Made no sense to me, seemed like she was more concerned with propriety than her love. So screw Mary. She only reaches out to Arthur when she needs something or was lonely.
I never knew Abigail liked Mary. I know Mary Beth didn't like her. She liked Kieran an Arthur. And Tilly didn't like Mary either. She liked Arthur or Penny depending on how you play rdr2. I never learned how Karen felt. I've made every woman in camp love me, it's fun except Karen turns on you when you get sick and Abigail loves John and fools around with Micah, no lie and when it comes to John defends him if you talk down to him. Not sure if y'all know but Mary gives Arthur Back his engagement ring and a picture of her and him young if you never help her. It's a achievement in the game. I believe Arthur's supposed to be mean. If you take Mary to the theater 🎭 you can look at her. push lt/lb and it will say make a move on mary😂 and he try’s but bitches out 🤣I wanna know if you know that
I really really wish we could have romance with Mary Beth. Or Karen.
At 12:00 what is Arthur and javier doing.
I dont like mary much but i do her missions for honer
what is that coat you use when helping mary part 2
Legend of the East outfit. You can get it by completing all 90 challenges, but it is supposed to be impossible to complete as arthur without mods as you need to go to new austin for the herbalist 9 challenge.
You save Mary's life by not staying with her never forget you have tb of you kissed her she is dead
there is also a comment if Arthur brings a lasso
Did they always answer the door with a revolver?
Always thought it was sad that there no half good ending with Arthur and Mary.
I think giving her one last fond memory and departing on somewhat nice terms is the good ending for their relationship with foresight. Just imagine if she did run away with him there and she had to go through and watch all the suffering Arthur goes through in the latter half of the game.
The way the game ends there really is no good ending for Arthur 😭.
wgat coat is that 6:45
6:01 AY?!?!
Glad someone else in this comment section has a fucking brain. You, my friend, have a nice day.
I'm starting to think you have a thing for Mary...
5:26 - I just can’t respect Arthur in these clothes, he looks like Micah!
arthur could rizz me up
What if you came to.the first mary linton misión with a Legendary hat
She won’t comment
@@RedsDeadBaby but the animation when Arthur take off his hay, has to be so funny
Nothing like advertising your grammar mistake in big red letters in your thumbnail.
It's "A lot" more, not "Alot" more. Alot is not a word.
First🥲
I never knew Abigail liked Mary. None speaking and and sharp tongue
HOOOOOOOOO OURTHUR
How come people don't all complain about the clickbait and hit dislike and unsubscribe?
Anyone knows what Black Suit that is at 6:33?
Pretty sure him taking off his hat depends on honor
“ALOT” isn’t a word. It’s “a lot”.
