    Thank you so much, i removed my Eagle Mike lowering links and couldn't get the OEM ones to realign. I was just lifting the front of the bike, not the whole bike... After that, easy peazy. Thanks again.

    Good video just one thing you may want to look into. Bolt's are shoulder bolt, they are typically designed so that when you torque the assembly together the links are never under load put on the nut. The nut will torque up against the shoulders of the blots setting the designed clearance for the links alowing them to move. Because the link thickness has changed and counterbore removed in my opinion you need a counterbore or longer shoulder bolts. Links are aluminium you may want to check the inside face for wear allowing bolts to come loose.

    Big freakin' guys and KLRs... We go together like steak and potatoes. I'll be doing this weekend after next, thanks for the vid.Oh, and it's easier if you do it like changing a car tire- break the bolts loose before you lift the bike. Installing, put everything snug on the lift, then put it back on the ground for torque wrenching. ;)

    Great video! I ordered! Just a note: the countersunk ones are E series (2008+) The flat ones are 2007 and below. I don't know what year your bike, might have been split year. Thanks for video!!

    Hey. What the length of the Raising Link? Form centro hole to center center hole?

  • @MidwestMotoRider
    @MidwestMotoRider 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well that was pretty easy. I thought for sure those bolts would rub the chain also. :) They seem to be made extremely well.

    What kind of crash bars do you have? The KLR we just got has lowering links and I flat foot it. I might try a set of these.

    What kind of lift is it that let you pump with your foot to lift up the bike? I can see it is blue and by AC Delco but that is it.

      It's an ATV/Motorcycle lift. Lot's of manufacturers besides AC Delco make them and can be found at Napa or other local auto parts stores. Very useful to have. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      He has started making these links with the recess for the bolt heads. I just installed mine based on your great video. Thanks!

      Harbor Freight makes a decent one for cheap, I know it's 11 months later but still.......

    Now that the links have been installed for a few weeks, can you comment on the ride and how it has changed? Thanks.

      Well the reason I installed them is because my shock was maxed at the 5th setting. I wanted a higher ride and still have adjustments for when i put the hard cases on with added weight. So by adding the raising links it allowed me to set the shock back down. I have been riding for a couple days with it at 3 and recently dropped it down to one and it feels like when I was maxed at the 5th setting. So now I have 4 more settings for when I add weight. Love them so far!

    I'm sorry but sense I just replaced the dogbones on my 2012 Kawasaki 250R with infinitely adjustable links ( turn buckles) i found the tiny amount those changed your seat height was appalling ! I changed my links by 5/8" that dropped the rear 4" then I went up with the pre-load by 2 clicks which brought me back to 1/2"~3/4" or so from stock seat height
    I did it to lower the bike and soften the suspension which worked great.
    you did it to raise the bike and stiffen the suspension.... and it worked... I can't help but wonder how well it would it worked if those links were 1/2" shorter than stock !?!?!?
    given that they were only about 1/8" difference in the new links .... it hardly seems worth the money to me ! ...if I wanted to do that to my KLR...
    Myself I will LOWER the KLR...not raise it for my 30" inseam and I'll probably raise the forks in the triple trees as well, yes I'll loose ground clearance but I will gain a more manageable bike in the process ! But I only weigh about 185 lbs too... and I almost always take out all the pre-load on every bike I've owned.
    so I think you've gone about this thing all wrong , lower the bike then worry about weather it is too hard or too soft ( for you it probably would be too soft) so a stiffer spring would be in order... with longer links. but to each their own, I hope it works for you, 36" in seat height makes the bike dangerous for me ! i won't own one that high for anything, I'll modify it to get the seat height down !

    What size are the bolts for the lever arms or links?

      I couldn't tell you to be honest. I reused the stock bolts. Thanks for watching!

    How much did they change your sag setting, or have you done the whole rear set up? I know I haven't since I installed my EM R-1

    Did the links increase your ground clearance? If so, by how much? Thanks

    • @Keith1212
      @Keith1212  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It sure felt like it when I put them on. But what really happens is that they give the swingarm less leverage to compress the shock, making the shock more able to withstand the weight/bumps that the swingarm has. With out the raising links and only my freshly rebuilt shock with a new spring I was still on the 4-5 preload setting. When I added the links I was able to go down to a 1-2 and have space for adjustment when I add more weight to the bike. Thanks for watching!
