In this video I talk about my impression of three web aesthetics while drawing them as villainous characters. I would love to go into further depth in a future video but I got so much to say that by the time I'm done yapping everyone who is nostalgic about this stuff will mulch. But fear not, my dives will get deeper.

This creature is a strange one. It is an entity that comes from a weird world.
Not much is known about it, but somehow it came into this world.
Through the internet, It meets the user through a strange video that is one in a million. With little over 5 views, and a mesmerising thumbnail, the user could click, hoping to see a masterpiece. But the only thing the user sees, is a black space.
The entity reaches out, and pulls the user in.
"Shake my hand."

My idea for the last villain’s motivations would be to bring back old the old web. I like to imagine these villains cause trouble in a computer world, hopping through different browsers, looking at various social medias, popping in certain games, etc. But the last villain is trying to bring back the old web, believing it to be perfect compared to the new web. They see all the bad stuff that goes on in todays internet ( nothing too graphic like predators or something if this was theoretically a children’s show ) and wants it all to go back to how it was. And although he believes early internet is the perfect time period for the web, he fails to see the cracks in that system too.
this is so sick!!
to add on to this, maybe he has a virus that he gives to users that are like from ages ago? think bonzai buddy. to try "win them over" he tries to infect their devices with viruses but the viruses are from his time which also shows that like, hey, old internet was also bad

A frutiger metro character would be sooo cool!
If you plan on making heroes, I think a solarpunk hero would be a good 'opposite' to the frutiger aero villain. Solarpunk is basically if frutiger aero was less 'digital' and more 'mechanical'. It's about using technology in harmony with the environment to better the both of them. It's not really a 'web' aesthetic, but it's one of my favorites.
frutiger aero + touching grass = solarpunk, essentially

silicon dreams character honestly seems like the kind of villain that has very confusing motivations, as in they probably just do what they do out of curiousity, maybe they are confused or bored by how reality looks, so tahts why they change things into a form they understand better or find more fun.

Another good aesthetic that would definitely work really well with your style is Frutiger Metro, but i also think an EXE style character would be really cool too
Because of you mentioning Splatoon I wanna add that much of the splatoon music aesthetic is much like frutiger aero, especially now the side order music!

3:03 yea she may have a very open pose, but she thinks that what shes doing is good, freeing them from what she thinks is the simulation.

Zeppy have you heard of a web-aesthetic called frutiger metro/funky seasons? It’s like frutiger aero’s older cooler brother. It’s characterized by colorful flowing, bouncy designs and shapes. In your next video you could maybe design a character for the aesthetic that maybe has something to do with your frutiger aero character? Ex: like a sibling or arch nemesis. It’d be really cool if you also made them a DJ because a huge part of frutiger metro is music and symbols that relate to it like music notes, headphones, DJs, radios.

Honestly, I feel like if your characters were to meet up, they’d definitely have a Team Rocket esc vibe (With Frutiger Aero being Jessie, Silicon Dreams being James, and Internet Awesomesauce being Meowth)
I don’t have much ideas for the motives/backstory of Silicon Dreams, but I feel like he’d once belong to “The digital world”, but after some internet mishap, he is brought into the real world, and by being overwhelmed from being separated from his world, he’s desperate to get back and return home. (Almost like a reversed plot of The Amazing Digital Circus). In this process however, caused him to go a little insane, with his mask being the only thing trying to keep his sanity at bay. He’d also most likely use his powers (Turning people into odd shapes and whatnot) to try to relieve his homesickness and remind him of his home place

for the 3rd backstory all i can think of is jealousy and rage over the fear and mockery surrounding early digital media. think the daisy bell song as the first song sung by a computer but now commonly used as a spooky tiktok audio. it hates the polished cleaness that makes it so scary. Frankenstien’s monster type vibe also, didn’t choose to be scary but was seen as it, so followed along.

Design number 3 goes hard. Definite battle manga big bad material. You should make a comic about him.
His power is pretty lame for how crazy his design is though. He should be a full on reality warper, who makes the real world just as crazy as he is. As for his origins, he's a madman who gained reality warping paychic powers after being briefly exposed to a higher dimension. Allowing him to externalize all the insanity that previously only existed in his head.
