Man, the scene was so thick Lowriders, '77 Sevilles, El Dogs Nothin' but them 'Lacs All the players, all the hustlers I'm talkin' 'bout a black man heaven here, nahmsayin'? Yeah R.I.P Rico Wade!
I was 14 years old when Outkast first album dropped. I used to always wonder who Rico Wade was. Reading album credits back in the day was very important to me. The dude was a genius. That Dungeon Familly sound is so legendary.
STOP IT!!! He helped change HIP HOP and World rhythm!! Please don't minimize the Dudgeon ! (Not aimed at you) Im soooooo tired of my fellow KINGS not showing love until one of us GRADUATES. Rico Sleepy and Ray .......... Salute!!
I’m Dungeon Family all the way and I’m from New Orleans Cash Money Ville. Classic, timeless music is when it’s 20, 30, 40 years old and beyond and it’s still sounds new, make you feel good… it’s Dungeon Family music as a whole
Last Memorial Day, I was in Wayfield Foods getting ready to BBQ lol and I ran into Rico Wade as we were both getting our seasonings. He was in there, ashy legs, shorts and flip flops 😂 and I said " Ain't you Rico Wade ?!!" We had a great conversation as he had done some production for some of my peoples back in the day. He remembered them, was so cool, so humble and such a gentleman. I am honored to have been able to have that conversation and taking the opportunity to tell him to his face my appreciation for what he did for our camp, his contributions to the world and for helping bring forth those songs that I (we) just didn't just LISTEN to but LIVED TO !! Rest In Paradise 👑
Truly appreciate this segment. The way you guys described the vibes about when The DF dropped in the early 90's brought back a lot of memories. RIP Rico.
I bought OutKast Debut Album in Cali. Drove down from Seattle Washington and snagged it at a Tower Records in LA. That Video fueled the buzz in the West Coast as well.
This one hurts, Rico and The entire Dungeon really helped give the city a voice. I remember watching Playa's Ball for the first time and seeing the Decatur sign and the ATL jerseys and being so excited because this was home. This is the first time I remember seeing a video and it being relatable to where I'm from. Prayers up for Rico's family, friends, the city of Atlanta, and the state of GA.
When that "Playas Ball", jawn dropped around April of '94, Freaknik time, seeing Andre for the first time in that Braves Jersey and Kangol with Big Boi and the Herringbone and Afro 🪮, I was like who the hell is these cats.
This one hurts BADDD!!! I remember moving from Boston to Atlanta around 95-96 when The A was off the hook!! Outkast was on fire!!! I bought a drum machine & wanted to venture into making beats. A couple of my coworkers heard me talking about beats & kept saying you need to hit Atlanta & find Rico Wade! Coincidentally one of those coworkers cousin owned a pool servicing company that cleaned & worked on Rico's pool at the mansion on Adams St. He asked me to help him do some pool work one day after work & he would break me off a few dollars, not mentioning we were going to Rico's mansion (which looked just like the white house & the home of the Dungeon Studios in the basement) to clean his pool. I was around 21-22, didn't smoke at all & drink occasionally. This dude left me outside while he went inside these side doors on the property to the dungeon studio coming out with Rico smelling like a weed factory. Lollll Once we got into the truck he told me: my bag i had to light up right quick with Reek. I'm from up north & didn't no what anybody looked like but Outkast!!! Lollll I was so heated!!! The guy that i been trying to chase down to intern atleast was right infront of me (i didn't no what he looked like & down in Atlanta they called him Reek & i was looking for Rico Wade) Lollll I bumped into Rico 3-4 times since then even bringing up this story. LOLLLL To Atlanta: His Wife, Kids, The Dungeon Family, His Fans.. This one hurts more than Biggie & Pac!! Dude was so cool & down to earth, treated everybody like a homie. RIP RICO, WHEN I GET UP THERE I'M GOING TO BUG YOU TILL YOU SHOW ME, TELL ME WHAT YOU GUYS WERE THINKING WHEN YALL MADE THAT CREATINE BEAT FOR COOL BREEZE!!!! STAY STRONG ATLANTA!! THE WADE FAMILY!! BOSTON'S ROOTING FOR YALL!!!
Not gone lie: i shed a tear when i saw B High’s IG post. I was 14 when i got introduced to weed & OutKast, at a cookout. This 1 hurt. My prayers & condolences go out to his family, and the entire city of Atlanta. 🙏🏽 - Signed 04/16/2024 #RIPRicoWade

I've known Rico for many years. I chilled with him for years. I recorded at the studio and hung out with him for many years. All the bro's over there were super cool. Rico was actually a good guy. He allowed me to be at his house when I came from a different rap crew, he didn't care, he treated me like a friend. At this moment, I feel like a part of ATL just died. He and Ray and Pat, gave ATL Rap credibility. Before Organized, nobody took ATL rappers seriously when it came to lyrics. Rico and them created groups that no other coast could deny. I still remember the last time I spoke to Rico. He was very positive, as always. I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to hang out and chill with ATL'S biggest legend. To his kids, your dad was great even before you all walked earth. To the rest of his family, thanks for giving us Rico. RIP TO THE LEGEND RICO WADE.

Well done. You both perfectly described Rico's impact and legacy, amid the shock that still sits with us all. I particularly appreciate the comments about his natural leadership, and how that made so many others gravitate to him. I have always been in awe of how Rico was able to articulate his vision with such clarity- something most artists struggle with greatly- and then bring it to life with the people he always knew were the right ones for the job. Outkast debuted on the 93’ LaFace Christmas CD with Player’s Ball. The jingle bells in the background and the couple of Christmas references without saying Christmas was pure genius! I was hooked. Then Southernplayalistic dropped in ‘94 and not only changed the game, but changed the world forever by kicking the door open for the Dungeon Family!🔥
Rico Wade and Organized Noize changed my life and was my soundtrack throughout the mid 90s and beyond. Every time I got a CD and saw 'produced by Organized Noize' I knew I was gonna get something that sounded superb and would speak to me. I'm not from Atlanta, I'm in Louisville Kentucky and having access to speak to them and the DF was what definitely made them more real to me. I'm forever a fan and this loss cuts deep, but I wanna remember what Rico helped create along with his Dungeon brothers and fam.
The funny thing about this I was just listening to OutKast first album and I heard this. This is a big lost man, this brother was the mastermind of organized noise. One of the Best to ever do it Organized Noise . I was in Brooklyn when that first album dropped and I was digging it, tight production and barz. I was diggingn it from the beginning, Goodie Mob soul food ground breaking albums. The first time I heard OutKast album as a producer I would run to read the credits and those beats I was like who the hell is Organized Noise. There was nothing coming out the south that sounded like that real hip hop their way. RIP by brother you inspired me salute 🫡
The thing what people forget is about the Society of Soul Albun!!! That album there was the healing and love music, and you saw the Atlanta sound where you could just sit back and soak in the sounds!! Crumbling urban. On repeat!!
From Society of Soul, all the way up, the dungeon fam saved me. They came as i was about to turn 18 in southside Chicago, at a time that young adulthood presented me the fork in the road. 💯
