You know something guys: Tropical Storm Gordon was almost hurricane level when he struck Florida the first and second times. Actual winds were almost 70 miles/hour when struck the first 2 times. Also, regarding eleven to eighteen hundred deaths across the Caribbean, eleven across Florida and North Carolina (plus 750 million across the United States), the name 'Gordon' should have been permanently expelled in Spring 1995 and NEVER used again! Most storms like Gordon 1994, Fay and Hanna 2008, Alex, Hermine, Karl and Matthew 2010 are expelled and never used again. The WMO officials may be arrogant or are not being strict enough regarding hurricane name expulsions. 'Gordon' should have gotten retired after its very first usage.
I was in Tampa for this Tropical Storm, and that had some rain and wind there as well. As ferocious as this wind is, this only a medium-high tropical storm.This reminds me somewhat of Tropical Storm Floyd on the Jersey Shore in 1999, which brought a few hours of t.s. winds, 50-60 mphs with higher gusts.
1994 was a terrible year I was in junior high at a so called "Christian school" surrounded by kids who loved country music, pickup trucks and hated any kid who was an outsider and wasn't rich like them or more specifically....me LOL. It wasn't funny back then but it is now seeing how stupid they were.
That women said 90mph gusts on the radio I'm sure. There is no way that these winds are sustained at 40 gusting to 60mph. We get those sort of winds all the time in the UK but nothing like this very often. This looks more like sustained 60 wiv gusts approaching 100mph, which would make it as big as any storm wiv had here in the UK, even our so called hurricane of 1987!
Not true, some of them do come packed with thunder and lightning. Tropical Storm Colin (2016) was packed with lightning and thunder, we also lost power to this storm. Tropical Storm Debby (2012) was full of lightning and there was a video of Hurricane Harvey (2017) showing a lightning storm. Yes thunder and lightning is definitely possible in hurricanes and tropical storms.
I remember this storm, had came straight through the Augusta,GA Area.

None of the hermines should have gotten a retirement, 2016 hermine was a bit bad, but not enough for retirement, this was worse.

This is one of the more violent tropical storms ive seen in my day this happened like only a month before i was born.

That was actually equivalent to a category 1 hurricane.

Usually you only see that with intense and intensifying tropical cyclones.

A lot of mesovortecies as well.
