I'm not even a Kings fant and I found this really touching. I'm a die hard Blazers fan and this shows that just because a team is in a small market doesn't mean that they are not cared about and have importance in people's lives. Lakers Celtics and Bulls will continue to get TV ratings but the heart of NBA fans lies here in these markets.
Sacto needs to say. I feel for those fans. I remember that building in the early 00s, and it was BY FAR the loudest and hardest building to play in that I've ever seen. I can't even imagine losing one of my teams, and I have four. From a lifelong Nuggets fan, I'm pulling for you Sacramento.
They weren't the only ones crying. We're not just losing the Kings. Grant will move with them, and we'll lose him and Jerry as well. Tuning in to Grant's show at 4 on the radio was as much a part of my routine as watching the Kings. I used to watch him on Channel 31 when I was 9 years old. I really hope Grant and Jerry know how appreciated they are and how much they mean to sports fans like me
lifelong Lakers fan here, and Im pulling for you Sacto fans! In an ideal world, you would be hating us and loving your owners! I hope for the best for you guys Thanks for the link Simmons
I'm from L.A., so of course a die-hard Lakers fan.......but this really breaks my heart. Kings fans are some of the best in the NBA - very loyal and supportive of their team. Sad to see the team moving out of Sac town. Anaheim?? We already have 2 teams out here.
Simmons! I'm from Sacramento and I'm deeply touched by the outpouring of support from NBA fans all across the country. Sacramento deserves the Kings, but they don't deserve the Maloofs.
Nice pull Simmons. So sad to see this. I hope they can stay in Sac Town for more than one more year. I truly feel for you Kings fans. Heres to hoping everything works out as best as possible -Bulls Fan
A huge Bulls fan, but as an NBA fan and a sports fan in general, this sucks. I couldn't imagine how Kings fans feel. It's so stupid that fans have to suffer because of incompetent ownership. The early 2000's Kings teams got me through some god awful Bulls basketball, so I'll always be grateful to them. The city is great too. Y'all deserve better.
I'm a fan of the Chicago Bulls, but I confess that I touched by this video. I 'm sorry too much the situation of the Kings, a franchise for whom I have enormous sympathy, especially from the times when Chris Webber was there. I hope there is time to step back process. Good luck to the people of Sacramento.
I loved the Kings team in 2002, so fun to watch and should have went to the finals. They got utterly screwed over in game 6 vs LA. I remember watching that game and getting so pissed off at all the calls given to Shaq. Even the announcers were like "I'm sorry but that wasn't a foul". That should have been a title team, they were the best team in the league and I was always a Webber fan. Wished Orlando had kept him when we drafted him.
I laughed so hard at 0:33 they were about to cry right there, and Kings fans keep your heads up. If your a true kings fan you will remain no matter what city they go to. I'm gonna miss the "Sacramento Kings", even though I'm a Lakers fan. We had battles that will never be forgotten.
I'm from Seattle. And while I'm thrilled at the mere possibility that we might get an NBA team back, I know we can't do it without breaking another franchise's hearts. Thanks for the column, BS, and showing us how stupid the Maloofs are, and how lucky Sacramento is.
I'm an Orange County native which is like 20 or 30 miles away from L.A., and I'm against it like you said because we have 2 teams already, they should move the Clippers up to Sac and become the new Kings but unfortuneately as long as Donald Sterling is in charge the Clippers are going nowhere, this is how i see it, why do need a third NBA team when we have no NFL team? I wasn't old enough to remember when the Rams and the Raiders used to be down here, it's not fair for me
Sad to see that whether fans dont support a team or the owners happen to be spoiled, entitled idiots a team is never safe. I am a Thunder fan and i always will put my heart and soul into them.
Watching this was tough. If that stupid punk Stern allows another Seattle hijacking, that will be a joke. Seattle deserved to see the greatness of Durant, and Sactown deserves to see the future success of that team as well.
@lilze96 That's the most illogical argument ever. The series should have been over after game 6. Wouldn't have mattered if the Kings lost by 50 in game 7. The series only went 7 games because it was fixed. How do the Kings not deserve to win a series in which they were up 3-2, got screwed to death in game 6 and still nearly won game 6 anyway?
Not a Kings fan (Knicks), but I think I'm echoing the sentiments of a lot of basketball fans when I say the Maloofs can go to hell. Stern can too for that matter.
+vivaeljason Why should the Sacramento Kings fans go after David Stern? Stern gave Sacramento mayor and former NBA All-Star PG Kevin Johnson a chance to build a new arena for the team and have Vivek Ranadive finalize the deal to create and build the Golden 1 Center. The Kings fans should thank Stern for that. They even named a street to the Golden 1 Center after him.
That is an ignorant statement, this team is only "big four" sports team in a small market city, this team lost a chance for a title in 2002, and there team is on the verge of leaving these fans behind. These fans are passionate behind their team unlike a whole bunch of idiots in South florida, who just showed up to an arena, and have to put on big circus show, having to get three stars to do so.
@6for24 To me it doesn't matter because in the end Kings had game 7 at home and they CHOKED! we can argue about games 5 & 6 all day but in game 7 Kings missed 14 ft's and lost by 6, Lakers where trying to give them that game and they still lost....I'm sorry man but the Kings did not deserve to win that series.
Best NBA announcer duo ever.
I'm not even a Kings fant and I found this really touching. Still remember this horrible moment as a kings fan
LOOK AT US NOW!LIGHT THE BEAM!!!GO KINGS!
The Kings will stay in Sacramento thanks to Vivek Ranadive and the Golden 1 Center.
Classy broadcasters you guys have there in Scaramento. Here's hoping the team stays around. You deserve better than this.
I love these die hard kings that kept our team here
F--K THAT!!!!! WE'RE HERE TO STAY!!!!!

Simmons... great article coming from a lifelong kings fan

The beginning gave me chills
Sad how grant got treated for saying "all lives matter" after all the good job he's done
SIMMONS! Such a sad video, best of luck to every Sacramento fan.
I love Jerry and Grant and the G MAN, not to mention our beloved KINGS! I would do anything to keep them home.
does somebody have the segment that comes next? It was like a mix of some Kings moments right? Man, I just hope they stay in Sacramento! Go Kings!
SIMMONS!!! Good luck Sacramento, tough times ahead for all the teams. I hope they get it right..

Keep them in Sacramento!
best of luck Sacramento from a Clevelander. Keep the Kings.

Zero dislikes is the correct number for this video.
So now that we're staying for at least one more year are they coming back? boy I really hope so.
Sad to see that whether fans dont support a team or the owners happen to be spoiled, entitled idiots a team is never safe. I am a Thunder fan and i always will put my heart and soul into them.
RIP
Never would have happened if the NBA hadn't fixed Game 6. You get what you pay for, Stern.
Simmmmonnnssss. Best of luck Sacramento. This truly is a travesty.
From a Seattle fan.
@MehMah83 the team that shot 15 more free throws than the other team in the 4th quarter.

Simmons, Muck the Faloof brothers

@Poweezy522 I concur. Same with me.
Watching this was tough. If that stupid punk Stern allows another Seattle hijacking, that will be a joke. Seattle deserved to see the greatness of Durant, and Sactown deserves to see the future success of that team as well.
