Going back and seeing the stress and doubt at the beginning is intense. But also inspiring, because look what came of it! Thank you for giving that honest look at how the process worked.
It's good for us too, because it's easy to gloss over everything and only remember how great it was, because it was pretty great. But it was extremely hard and stressful as well, and it's good to remember that!
Did Sean put his finger above his mouth in rehearsal.... to compensate for a missing mustache? (It's ok if it's just his default thinking pose but I'm just curious HAHA) And Chris! Hi, Chris!
Thank you for showing us how much work it takes to make Poe Party! I'm thinking of shooting a mini movie over the summer, but seeing as everyone in our cast and crew are teenagers, we can't really go that far!
Thank you so much for doing behind the scenes!! I'm a film student and it's super helpful for me because I get to see what goes into large productions! I'm also super glad to see that i'm not the only one who sent out scripts and had them read off of phones. This series was incredible and I can't wait to see what else you guys do in the future!
It's so amazing to see this in it's beginnings when everyone was nervous and excited. This show is such an important thing for me. My first role as an actor was in a stage version of Poe Party, and now I have a bunch of friends in this fandom. I love everyone involved with this project so much.
Thanks for these glimpses behind the scene, Mary Kate! It's very interesting to see what goes on in such a production, especially when so many people love Poe Party! Twenty-thousand over budget ... Poor you, you looked really stressed at the beginning!
Something I would like to see on the merch store is a t-shirt with the Poe Party logo on the FRONT. It seems like all the current ones have the logo on the back side....
Whitney looks so much like Paris Gellar from Gilmore Girls! Can you imagine that mashup?! 😂 Also, Mary Kate, you just seem like a ray of sunshine, even during rough times. It's fun to see!
Sarah looks amazing in the Mary Shelley dress! Seeing all the BTS stuff that I missed out on is great and brought a lot of smiles. I actually forgot when we had shot Twain/Emerson's Prologues as it was such a blur, I remember them happening but forgot the date.
I love seeing good behind the scenes stuff like this :) Some behind the scenes stuff is so dull, like it's just two or three people talking, interspersed with a few random scenes from whatever show or movie it is. This is actually interesting, I love seeing the process you guys all went through, and seeing stuff like the table reads and discussions about your characters' temperaments.
love this. really gives us a good idea how much hard work and effort has been put into making this project come to life. It really is a very good series. Glad to have been a part of it in a tiny way! :D
I'm rewatching this and it's hitting me all over again just how much work there was, and you guys were doing everything, and just...wow. You're all amazing.
MK, THANK YOU for posting this and all the real-ness of production. Sometimes it is a nightmare and makes you feel crappy and it feels silly to complain. So I appreciate you saying all of this, and keeping it in after editing. One question: who DID end up running your set?! (We struggle with this too.)
Well, I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Our Assistant Director, Wes Middleton, ran our set incredibly efficiently and he is without a doubt one of the best ADs I have ever worked with in my life. But in the bigger sense of "running the set", it was a collective effort between Shipwrecked, our director Joe, Wes, and our American Black Market producers, Brent and Ryan.
Thank you for sharing this MK! I really want to do production, tech and behind the scenes stuff for web series and theater, and so it's really cool to get a look at kinda what that looked like for Poe Party!
Thanks for sharing the BTS ! Now that everything is done, how does your view about your ability to produce have changed ? I think that what you said at the beginning probably stemmed from anxiety. But I just hope that after so many months of hard work (and such a successful show!), you now feel more confident :)
I definitely do feel more confident. I definitely had a LOT of anxiety throughout this entire process. I don't think I want to go into producing for just like, anyone, but I do think I'm fairly good at certain aspects of it, like mobilizing, and marketing, and connecting people. Thankfully there were many producers on Poe Party, and everyone else filled in on the things that I am not so good at, like budget, and not freaking out. :)
omg was that "so good!" and "okay!" from you and sean post table read a reference to homestar runners teen girl squad comic? I haven't thought about that in ages....(really enjoyed poe party btw. your work is great!!)
I may’ve missed something but was Charlotte originally supposed to be played by the girl who plays Anne Bronte in the final series? I just discovered the series and I LOVE IT!!! Shipwrecked is amazing!!!

I couldn't possibly begin to imagine the logistics behind a production the size of 'Poe Party'. Thank-you for the video !
"And it went sooooo good!" "Ooookay!" Oh my gosh, I haven't heard a Teen Girl Squad reference in forever. I love it!
Did Sean put his finger above his mouth in rehearsal.... to compensate for a missing mustache? (It's ok if it's just his default thinking pose but I'm just curious HAHA)

MK, thank you for taking us on this journey of PoeParty!
I had never imagined a rehearsal would involve everybody reading off their cell-phones! :D
Saving paper, you know. :)

Thanks so much! I'm so glad this was helpful for you. :) There will be two more coming!
same for me!! very elucidating as to what the process actually consists of :)

13:45 lol all those guys have played love interests for mk
All the costumes are so beautiful! I was so impressed with them when I was watching each episode.
Blake looks weird out of costume. :0
Poor Blake!
No... No... No.. that is "Poe Blake" .... not Poor Blake... get it ???? lol ...
Thanks for these glimpses behind the scene, Mary Kate! It's very interesting to see what goes on in such a production, especially when so many people love Poe Party!
Twenty-thousand over budget ... Poor you, you looked really stressed at the beginning!
It's the same house where Muzzled was filmed, right?
Yes! The minute I walked in on the first day of Muzzled, I thought "This is where we have to shoot Poe Party."
So I'm not sure if you saw this but Poe party was featured on this tumblr I love called recycled movie costumes, they had Lenore's wedding dress! 👍🏻
thank you for making this! Poe Party was such a pleasure to watch and you guys did a great job ♥
Sarah looks amazing in the Mary Shelley dress! Seeing all the BTS stuff that I missed out on is great and brought a lot of smiles. I actually forgot when we had shot Twain/Emerson's Prologues as it was such a blur, I remember them happening but forgot the date.
Lots of work but incredibly worth it! Poe Party was wholeheartedly enjoyable from beginning to end! I applaud you, good lady!

This makes me very happy. Lovely people doing lovely things. Thank you for putting in the work to create something awesome.

Mary Kate Wiles that's helpful to know it was a team effort!
I loved seeing this! Thank you guys so much for putting all this work into Poe Party- the product was amazing!
I would just like to comment on the stormtrooper skeleton that's in the background in some shots. Bonus points to whoever owns that.
Thank you for sharing this MK! I really want to do production, tech and behind the scenes stuff for web series and theater, and so it's really cool to get a look at kinda what that looked like for Poe Party!

I needed something uplifting right now... Yay!
Yay for Behind the Scenes!!
Awesome! I learned so much!
Good job Shipwrecked and crew! Thanks for the videos MK!
loved poe party, i'm sad its over xx
I'm already excited for your next project
That house is like, the BEST house. I remember it from Muzzled :)
Mary Kate is so beautiful!!
omg was that "so good!" and "okay!" from you and sean post table read a reference to homestar runners teen girl squad comic? I haven't thought about that in ages....(really enjoyed poe party btw. your work is great!!)
Ow, my stomach lining! of course it was! Thank you!
I may’ve missed something but was Charlotte originally supposed to be played by the girl who plays Anne Bronte in the final series? I just discovered the series and I LOVE IT!!! Shipwrecked is amazing!!!
Nope! We always wanted Ashley to be Charlotte. So glad you found the series and love it! :)
were Mark Twain and Ralph Waldo Emerson cut?
PeppermintMemento I think they were in one of the prologues
It's amazing how they went from preproduction in April to finished production in October.
Hm. Chris Higgins was in "Glee".
💙I loved this💙
Great to see how much effort such a production really takes :) but did I misschien Mark Twain? Huh? :O
He's in Prologue #1
Elsie Not Giving You My Last Name oh yeah! Can't believe I forgot that 🙈
so Charlotte Bronte supposed to be played by her sister
I really want to do this. I would love to act for Shipwrecked. I just kinda live in TN.
What did you guys use to create the thumbnails for Poe Party?
+Mary Kate Wiles
Is there a name of the house, because it looks really cool! Does it have a website?
It's called Sunny Gables, and here's its airbnb: www.airbnb.com/rooms/818189
Thank you so much!!!!
Much love from me and other PoeParty fans from the Netherlands!
Did they film it in the same place as Muzzled the musical, i swear the staircase is exactly the same.
Yeah, it's the same house
I can't stop staring at her perfect teeth
What film company is this for? Amazon, Hulu?
It's all on TH-cam.
5:43 I like half as you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
Teen Girl Squad reference??
I am so concerned about your vision when as you age, if you spend time squinting to read whole scripts on your phones!!!
