You can measure live time or shutdown time no problem

You same time not open all Earth pit ...you can do one by one.. if anything happen another Earth pit also in line. so fault current go through another Earth.

All Earth pit closed loop... for example total 10 Earth pit... your open no. 4 Earth pit that time fault current occure fault current go through Earth pit 1,2,3 ( one side ) & Earth pit 10,9,8,7,6,5 ( another side ) normally Earth pit checking time need to be used HT Gloves...but no one followed.
