- Currently starring in "Beautiful - The Carole King Musical," Jessie Mueller has played a wide range of roles in her Broadway career. In studio with Seth Rudetsky, she shares stories about her formative years as a singer, then performs Carole King's "Beautiful" while giving each of her multiple Broadway personalities a chance to tackle part of the tune. The "real Jessie" even gets a chance to demonstrate her vocal chops.
Many opera singers would give a lot of money to have that E flat of her so pristine and technically perfect.
I love that her body language changes with every vocal change!
Noticed this too you can just see the characters appear when she changes crazy she is so talented
And that ladies and gentlemen is why she won the Tony!
When she does Cinderella the E flat is not what gets me but the trill... so beautiful!
OMG!
Right! That was an actual real trill!!
She's like "Yeah, I just hit that E6...no problem, want me to go higher?"
i love how shes like like, sorry mics, after the e-flat
When she hit that note my dog did a cartwheel across the floor!!
Lucky60s
HOly fuck, that last note just had me struck

You can't be shock to someone amazing. I am expecting something like this every last part of the video when watching talented people.
Instant chills!!! I fell apart!
I hit an e flat one time and my teacher was like “wHaT” and that’s the only time for some reason I could do it
i can hit a healthy e but only in sirens for some reason
Was that a head voice or whistle tone?
Jugyeong Lim whistle tone
@@Alibabaandthefortythievess omg thank you for responding.
I hit an F# once in college and found out later someone's cat had run under the bed... across campus..."is that what that was?" I was asked...🤣🤣🤣
my anxiety is gone, my acne cleared, i lost thirty pounds, and my dog found his way home all because of that e flat!
I noticed sometimes in Waitress she sounds like the writer of the play, Sara Bareilles.
Same but I started listening to Sara's music after I saw Waitress so I was like "Hey Sara sounds like Jessie" 😂 But now I realized that she probably told Jessie to sound like that hahaha
That what was so amazing about her performance it has a slight country twang to it and she embodied the character soo well
Yup Jessie is a vocal chameleon
You know it is the best when Seth get all giddy. He has sat and sang with Broadway's best and to see him at the end really be surprised is HE LA RI OUS!
I watch this religiously I'm not exaggerating LOL
filmmakingkid ditto!
7:04-7:15 is literally like heaven to my ears. Her scatting is so great.
She reminded me of a Disney Princess (Tiana) when she sang in that part
彡෴๑ᑎσσ๔lєѕ๑෴彡 .... why
@@beetle998 idk either. Because scats are jazzy and the movie The Princess and The Frog is also jazzy. Idk. Maybe I should watch that movie again cause I am confused 😂
Seriously Jessie Mueller is one of the most diverse Broadway actresses ever! I just love her!
Another coloratura soprano singing low alto and belt roles and the occasional legit soprano role. She is very charming indeed.
that e flat was the icing on the cake , riveting performance by both parties !!!
i relate to “jessica there’s no singing at the dinner table”
It's 2020 and i still watch every other day. She's freaking AMAZING
Same
She's literally one of my favorite people.
Oh, my goodness, she is INCREDIBLE! That trill! That Eb! And I love how parts of her jazz singing sound like Doris Day. Jessie is a talent indeed.
I really want to hear her sing more of this song/other songs with her "real voice". It's so simple, smooth, and raw that it seems like it reaches your soul.
K.T. L I’m in love with her real voice. The Cinderella part was stunning. But her real voice is perfect.
straight to 6:38 once a day
Dafni Moatsou same
I wish I remembered this video when I met her in October! I would've busted out my Indian accent!
Update! Met Jessie and the Indian accent was used
Rizwan Jagani omg that's so cool!!!
Ugh, just literal beauty at the end with her trills and vibratto :D
she is my goals for the future, I want to grow up to be on broadway and she fully amazes and inspires me
I know that this will never happen, but I feel like she would be a great Sonya in Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812
I never thought of that before but she would be INCREDIBLE as Sonya.
amazing! And she seems like a humble true artist- I'm charmed!
I would love to see her as Christine, she'd be a great kind of modern Christine
Emmy Vi me too!
I have watched this video so. many. times. I love her!!
I love watching Seth call out notes immediately: "OMG that was an E flat!"
she just hit an E6 flat. smh..... I am so done. lol

Skip ahead to 6:38 for the actual singing
Is it just me but did he drag her on a bit then was legit blown away. He's really hilarious and gets the best stuff out of these extremely talented, legit elite performers of Bway. And so fun! ❤
REALLY hoping she crosses over into TV and film at some point.
ComeOnIsSuchAJoy she was on Blue Bloods!

starting 2019 with this gem of a video
that scattttttttt!!!!!!!!
Just when I thought one voice was crazy, she pull out a whole other character. Dang. Crazy good
THat was great!
Somebody (who i guess only ever saw jessie on waitress) dared to say she doesn't have the vocal capacity of a typical female broadway singer. Little that they know she has the capacity of *multiple* broadway singer
Okay we're all impressed with that E flat but I'm impressed that he can even tell what note that was lol maybe it's easy for musicians to have an ear for it.
she is so amazing omg
Woa she's amazing!
Wow! That last note especially.
I watch this at lease once a day
Wow, that was fun!
Such a beautiful trills and E-flat
0:49 I did that too when I was younger!
This video makes me so happy.
Interesting how, based on the voices showcase at the end, her interpretation of Jenna from Waitress sounds like it's informed in equal parts by her real voice and her Carole affectation. It's also a great example of typecasting gone right, since she was probably picked for the role due to the "warm and Southern" style of singing people already knew her for.
This video made my day!! XD
LOVE HER
AH! 2 years ago was Beautiful and now Waitress!!!
I’m in love
Interesting how, based on the voices showcase at the end, her interpretation of Jenna from Waitress sounds like it's informed in equal parts by her real voice and her Carole affectation

I know who he should have necks. Tell me if you all agree. The legendary Kristin Chenoweth. Where they get her the demonstrate her highest notes in all the songs that she sings. Including in wicked. Who's with me
Jacob Way-White DID YOU MEAN NEXT? YOU KNOW WHO HE SHOULD HAVE NEXT?
IAmBroadwayTrash or even better, Barbra Streisand it possible
IAmBroadwayTrash This had me really confused for the longest then i realized
Jacob Way-White God bless you.
By "Barbara" do they mean "Cook" or "Streisand" ?
+Ernest Barzaga Streisand.
I think they meant Barbra Streisand
It can be any of them Cook or Streisand both great singers .
I think it was Cook who sang the high E flat in Candide but Streisand is a great vocalist too.So i dont know
