Six Flags or Cedar Fair could work with a company to design a Tower of Terror clone, or a Soarin' Clone, but they've never done it because that is not found at IAAPA. Rob Decker sends his suits to IAAPA and says, "Find me something big." Yeah, we got Banshee and "The Vest." But the Justice League Dark ride clones are there, which is a knock off of Toy Story. The giant Frisbees and Swing rides are cool because they are similar to ToT in that they go up and down many times. A simple drop ride only drops one time so it's not the greatest. SF has the tallest drop rides and it uses the elevator lift. Make a version that keeps the cable attached to the car and send it back up the tower for multiple drops (ToT). Agree that John Duffy had nothing to do with this, but in a couple years (2018 or 2019) it's on him. I'm frustrated but the bucket list decides where I go, and there's nothing to add for 2017. That means I'll visit Animal Kingdom if Avatar is online when the kids are back in school. I hope Six Flags gets back to one RMC per park and makes them 5k feet in length. That's why New Texas Giant is my #1 RMC. You'd think the suits would look at the top rides and clone those instead of this carnival stuff.

ImAr Ikr I'm becoming a bigger thrill seeker, and I want more big rides not some kiddie bs, SFSL has a lot of flat rides already, we need more coasters. With the Boomerang still down there's only 3 steel looper coasters open (ninja, batman, Mr freeze), 3 woodies (Boss, Screamin Eagle, American Thunder), and a few others (Pandemonium, Mine Train) the selection gets kinda bland, & we need something new that's a stand out for the park. Kinda hoping for a Boss RMC or a wing coaster.

Well, SFSTL is getting the Disk'O 40 which is larger than HF5 and SFSTL didn't take out any rides this year. The park is doing a bit of refurbishment right now (new paint on rides, more restaurants, etc). I wish Y'all stop complaining about Spinsanity. It's going in Slingshot's old location, so that part of the park is getting attention.
Here's another break down of SF and RMC. They have 11 parks in the USA, 6 have an RMC plus one in Mexico City. That leaves 5 parks that didn't get one, two are marquee. Let's take a look. SFMM - Twisted Colossus. SFNJ - They got left out. SFGAm - Goliath SFoT - New Texas Giant SFoG - They got left out. Georgia Cyclone could be iron horsed like TC. SFNE - Wicked Cyclone SFFT - Iron Rattler SFDK - The Joker SFA - They got left out. SFSTL - They got left out. SFGE - They got left out. I can see the bottom 3 parks not being included, but SFoG and SFNJ deserve to get an RMC. For SFNJ, it would obviously be brand new. For SFoG, they would convert the Georgia Cyclone. Instead, they left out SFNJ and SFoG littering all their parks with Larson Loopers, S&S Free Spins, and Justice League rides. I hope they come back to these two parks and give each a huge RMC that's 5-7k feet in length, possibly launched if they can work out the bugs. Even SFSTL deserves to get one since they've been neglected to step child status.
It's not a theory that they aren't spending money here to build and develop their China and Dubai parks, it's a fact. They physically can't blow their whole budget on big new coasters now without going bankrupt within the time the new parks open, especially if they really are building a coaster that will take Kingda Ka's record in their Dubai park. In the early 90's they only added Batman: The Ride clones to their parks to save money for buying more parks in the coming years. You saw what happened when the mid 90's came around and they started adding coasters in mass along with buying even more properties; they went bankrupt, and I can tell you that they don't want history to repeat itself. Hence why they are adding only free spins at the moment to save money.

The GP goes nuts for the 4d coasters. At the movie theater they would show a commercial for Great Adventure and advertise the Joker and there was always someone in the theater who thought the ride looked insane.
The reason why the frisbee at La Ronde is not called Wonder Woman is because their DC license only works on parks branded as Six flags. It's the same reason why Le Vampire is not called Batman the Ride even though it is a batman clone.

I'm a pretty big enthusiast, though I'm a big fan of flat rides. The cookie cutter coasters made me say"Get some creativity with the name and layout." But the skyscremer is awesome and the frisbee. Water rides look fun, battle for mattroplis is an awesome idea and I love the addition. However, I am slightly disappointed, but I don't really care THAT much, because I have no money and don't live near any six flags park

att 6:12 , there is the same ride at super aqua club, in quebec. Its a park close to montreal (not a six flags park) and i think its one of the best water park. Not the biggest, but one of the most special.
I am actually not disappointed at all with any of these attractions. I was afraid that Six Flags Magic Mountain (My home park) was just gonna just get a new boring show stage, but no, they are getting a much needed Justice League dark ride. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (the only other Six Flags park I have been to) will have 2 frisbees, one made of wood and have infacing seats, and a steel one with outfacing seats. I was also afraid that Magic Mountain would be the only Six Flags park to never have a super loop, but none of the other 4 parks (Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Great America, La Ronde, and Six Flags Mexico) are getting any either. I am neutral with everything else.
Are the Disk-O coasters at SFFT and SFStL the big ones (without the hump)? Because if so, I've ridden one and they're actually pretty cool family thrill rides. Only if it's one of the big ones though.
I think the theory of saving money while doing things to satisfy the GP is correct, because for example my parents saw what was coming to home park (SFGAm) and they flipped out (pun not intended) and my friends were excited too. Heck, I can't deny the fact that a 4d free spin is cool since I've never ridden one. Even coaster enthusiasts like me who aren't able to visit lots of parks every summer will at least find something cool nearby. Still hope 2018 will be better.
I'm pretty certain that the new Six Flags parks being built overseas are not an investment being made by Six Flags. The parks are being built and paid for by foreign real estate development companies, who are partnering with Six Flags to license the Six Flags brand. So Six Flags isn't really putting any money into that. So That shouldn't have anything to do with why Six Flags is being cheap this year.
I think the only reason why Six Flags is not adding any RMCs is because Cedar Fair is working with them this year. I think we'll be seeing RMC Mean Streak and Hurler next year.

Six Flags Mexico announced that they are getting a hurricane harbor Waterpark. They didn't have a Waterpark period. Now they are getting the Waterpark. That is why there ain't no attractions to the dry park of Six Flags Mexico.
Yes, that is probably why, the reason why I say no new rides to Six Flags Mexico is because this new water park will not be attached to the park. It will be a separate gated park.

True, because they don't add anything to their parks. Cedar Fair is getting ONE major addition throughout their whole chain in 2017 (Mystic Timbers), while Six Flags is putting in 6 major rides. Yeah they're clones, but it who cares? Most people don't go to every single Six Flags park unless they're coaster nerds. Coaster nerds are never satisfied no matter what.
I have a very legit, curious question, and wondered if you knew, or could point in the right direction. Is there any quote as to how much it actually costs roughly to build a Justice Leaque Dark Ride? They cannot be cheap. I get some use pre-existing buildings and other's don't, but that's probably the difference of about 1 million at the most in a market where huge coasters cost 30mil+

Six Flags Mexico is getting an entire water park so they didn't get screwed at all, St. Louis is the park that got screwed, but I'm not complaining because my home park is Great America and we were supposed to get a super loop, so I'm excited

Technically, the Age of Duffey won't really start until 2020-ish. That's when his decisions for new rides will actually take effect (parks go by 5 year plans).

La Ronde cant name their rides after characters, they dont have the rights to use names of movie characters. Hence why their batman roller coaster is called vampire. And the new ride is titan.
Six Flags is still a great company, so for those who are extremely hating on them, go ahead. Jim Reid-Anderson did a great job with Six Flags when he was president and CEO, and I think John Duffey will keep Six Flags as a great company in the future. He's the new president and CEO, but he definitely knows what he's doing, 100%.
One thing I don’t like about the amusement parks is that they sometimes don’t listen to the general public as far as getting new rides and renaming the rides and etc.
It's definitely an interesting year for both Six Flags and Cedar Fair. There are no B&Ms nor RMCs coming, which is very weird considering what the last 5 years has consisted of. Can anyone tell me if other Free Spin 4D coasters are better than Green Lantern First Flight? That's my least favorite ride at Magic Mountain. Personally I don't mind given that I'm financially locked into Magic Mountain/ Hurricane Harbor. Although I wish Hurricane Harbor had something new coming because it's the worst water park around LA. Part of me thinks they should just tear it down and expand Magic Mountain! Also Magic Mountain's flat rides are quite pedestrian especially when you compare to there coaster line up.
There might be some legal issues with La Ronde and DC names for some reason. Apparently the only DC thing in the park are the FlashPass. There is one other ride like Thunder Rapids in the world, it's call Singha and it's in Spain. I'm good with the 2017 additions, though I feel that Wild One should have been given what Revolution got at Magic Mountain for it's ONE-HUNDREDTH SEASON. yeah, it started out life 99 years ago, though it's only spent 31 years of its life at SFA as of 2017, it spent 68 of it's years at another park before being saved (the missing year is for the relocation). A complete rehab (re-tracking) with a new paint job and possibly a new name and trains would have been a GREAT secondary thing for Six Flags America. Personally I'd revert Wild One to the name it originally used Giant Coaster (it ran under this name from 1917-1985 (68 years) at Paragon Park in Hull, Massachusetts), sure it's a simple name but I'd give the ride a new logo that would pay tribute to the old-school logos like you see on the lost Riverview Bobs which had a stylized logo that was simple, but cool to look at, though it would for damn sure have some art-deco styling to it while still being modernized a bit. It wouldn't be a badass looking logo like what Valravn has (one of the only things that I like about the ride BTW), but that's not what classic wooden coaster logos were like, I mean look at the two surviving Thunderbolt coaster logos (Kennywood and SFNE), those are visually striking logos that aren't super fancy. I mean Wild One will only be the FOURTH coaster to turn one-hundred, and the first 'modern' coaster to reach that age, modern referring to being post side-friction. It's a ride that also survived at least TWO fires and a park closure, something that is normally a death sentence to wood coasters. It's a survivor and should be celebrated, what's a better way to celebrate that milestone than by giving the ride some TLC for such an important season that SO many coasters never get the chance to see? I mean this actually carried some weight after what they did to Revolution at Magic Mountain for it's 40th season. It would be a cheap, but cost-effective way to give new life to a VERY old ride.
I honestly think that Great America (my home park) has had great years so far, like besides 2015 (we only got 3 kiddy rides for a 40 year celebration) and this year, I'm excited for the joker, I'm taking a vacation to six flags St.Louis, and I'm excited but the thing they got this year sucked, I honestly think this year sucked besides my park getting the joker, six flags better save up something good for 2018 or 2019

The reason why the frisbee at La Ronde is not called Wonder Woman is because their DC license only works on parks branded as Six flags. It's the same reason why Le Vampire is not called Batman the Ride even though it is a batman clone.

I'm a pretty big enthusiast, though I'm a big fan of flat rides. The cookie cutter coasters made me say"Get some creativity with the name and layout." But the skyscremer is awesome and the frisbee. Water rides look fun, battle for mattroplis is an awesome idea and I love the addition. However, I am slightly disappointed, but I don't really care THAT much, because I have no money and don't live near any six flags park

att 6:12 , there is the same ride at super aqua club, in quebec. Its a park close to montreal (not a six flags park) and i think its one of the best water park. Not the biggest, but one of the most special.

I am actually not disappointed at all with any of these attractions. I was afraid that Six Flags Magic Mountain (My home park) was just gonna just get a new boring show stage, but no, they are getting a much needed Justice League dark ride. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (the only other Six Flags park I have been to) will have 2 frisbees, one made of wood and have infacing seats, and a steel one with outfacing seats. I was also afraid that Magic Mountain would be the only Six Flags park to never have a super loop, but none of the other 4 parks (Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Great America, La Ronde, and Six Flags Mexico) are getting any either. I am neutral with everything else.

I think the theory of saving money while doing things to satisfy the GP is correct, because for example my parents saw what was coming to home park (SFGAm) and they flipped out (pun not intended) and my friends were excited too. Heck, I can't deny the fact that a 4d free spin is cool since I've never ridden one. Even coaster enthusiasts like me who aren't able to visit lots of parks every summer will at least find something cool nearby. Still hope 2018 will be better.
I'm sure Six Flags will build more S&S free fly coasters in 2018. Probably SFOG, SFDK, and SFStl

I'm pretty certain that the new Six Flags parks being built overseas are not an investment being made by Six Flags. The parks are being built and paid for by foreign real estate development companies, who are partnering with Six Flags to license the Six Flags brand. So Six Flags isn't really putting any money into that. So That shouldn't have anything to do with why Six Flags is being cheap this year.

I think the only reason why Six Flags is not adding any RMCs is because Cedar Fair is working with them this year. I think we'll be seeing RMC Mean Streak and Hurler next year.

Possibly they don't want guests to get it confused with X2, since it was the park's first "4D' ride.
What's even more sad is that Great Escape's Bonzai Pipelines aren't going to be the capsule slides. As far as I know, it's just 2 new body slides called Bonzai Pipelines.

You said that all of the parks that are getting the dark rides do not already have good dark rides, but Over Georgia has Monster Mansion, a boat ride which is pretty cool (I might be biased because SFOG is my home park).

Six Flags Mexico announced that they are getting a hurricane harbor Waterpark. They didn't have a Waterpark period. Now they are getting the Waterpark. That is why there ain't no attractions to the dry park of Six Flags Mexico.
Yes, that is probably why, the reason why I say no new rides to Six Flags Mexico is because this new water park will not be attached to the park. It will be a separate gated park.

True, because they don't add anything to their parks. Cedar Fair is getting ONE major addition throughout their whole chain in 2017 (Mystic Timbers), while Six Flags is putting in 6 major rides. Yeah they're clones, but it who cares? Most people don't go to every single Six Flags park unless they're coaster nerds. Coaster nerds are never satisfied no matter what.

roughly to build a Justice Leaque Dark Ride? They cannot be cheap. I get some use pre-existing buildings and other's don't, but that's probably the difference of about 1 million at the most in a market where huge coasters cost 30mil+

Six Flags Mexico is getting an entire water park so they didn't get screwed at all, St. Louis is the park that got screwed, but I'm not complaining because my home park is Great America and we were supposed to get a super loop, so I'm excited

I agree with you. I feel that this year is going to help each park in some way. I'll admit, I'm a bit upset about the themes for the free spins (that could have been much better), but they are going to benefit each park's lineup.
Technically, the Age of Duffey won't really start until 2020-ish. That's when his decisions for new rides will actually take effect (parks go by 5 year plans).

La Ronde cant name their rides after characters, they dont have the rights to use names of movie characters. Hence why their batman roller coaster is called vampire. And the new ride is titan.

Six Flags is still a great company, so for those who are extremely hating on them, go ahead. Jim Reid-Anderson did a great job with Six Flags when he was president and CEO, and I think John Duffey will keep Six Flags as a great company in the future. He's the new president and CEO, but he definitely knows what he's doing, 100%.
If any park that Cedar Fair gets it needs to be Six Flags Magic Mountain or Six Flags Great Adventure it would help Cedar Fair a heck ton.
One thing I don’t like about the amusement parks is that they sometimes don’t listen to the general public as far as getting new rides and renaming the rides and etc.
Let's give them this year - this is a good round-out year. If next year follows with the same type of additions - then I would be concerned.

It's definitely an interesting year for both Six Flags and Cedar Fair. There are no B&Ms nor RMCs coming, which is very weird considering what the last 5 years has consisted of. Not bad, since chains can't add huge new custom coasters each year for ever and ever...just different. Let's hope 2018 is good!
Can anyone tell me if other Free Spin 4D coasters are better than Green Lantern First Flight? That's my least favorite ride at Magic Mountain. Personally I don't mind given that I'm financially locked into Magic Mountain/ Hurricane Harbor. Although I wish Hurricane Harbor had something new coming because it's the worst water park around LA. Part of me thinks they should just tear it down and expand Magic Mountain! Also Magic Mountain's flat rides are quite pedestrian especially when you compare to there coaster line up.

There might be some legal issues with La Ronde and DC names for some reason. Apparently the only DC thing in the park are the FlashPass.
There is one other ride like Thunder Rapids in the world, it's call Singha and it's in Spain.
I'm good with the 2017 additions, though I feel that Wild One should have been given what Revolution got at Magic Mountain for it's ONE-HUNDREDTH SEASON. yeah, it started out life 99 years ago, though it's only spent 31 years of its life at SFA as of 2017, it spent 68 of it's years at another park before being saved (the missing year is for the relocation).
A complete rehab (re-tracking) with a new paint job and possibly a new name and trains would have been a GREAT secondary thing for Six Flags America.
Personally I'd revert Wild One to the name it originally used Giant Coaster (it ran under this name from 1917-1985 (68 years) at Paragon Park in Hull, Massachusetts), sure it's a simple name but I'd give the ride a new logo that would pay tribute to the old-school logos like you see on the lost Riverview Bobs which had a stylized logo that was simple, but cool to look at, though it would for damn sure have some art-deco styling to it while still being modernized a bit.
It wouldn't be a badass looking logo like what Valravn has (one of the only things that I like about the ride BTW), but that's not what classic wooden coaster logos were like, I mean look at the two surviving Thunderbolt coaster logos (Kennywood and SFNE), those are visually striking logos that aren't super fancy.
I mean Wild One will only be the FOURTH coaster to turn one-hundred, and the first 'modern' coaster to reach that age, modern referring to being post side-friction. It's a ride that also survived at least TWO fires and a park closure, something that is normally a death sentence to wood coasters. It's a survivor and should be celebrated, what's a better way to celebrate that milestone than by giving the ride some TLC for such an important season that SO many coasters never get the chance to see?
I mean this actually carried some weight after what they did to Revolution at Magic Mountain for it's 40th season. It would be a cheap, but cost-effective way to give new life to a VERY old ride.
I honestly think that Great America (my home park) has had great years so far, like besides 2015 (we only got 3 kiddy rides for a 40 year celebration) and this year, I'm excited for the joker, I'm taking a vacation to six flags St.Louis, and I'm excited but the thing they got this year sucked, I honestly think this year sucked besides my park getting the joker, six flags better save up something good for 2018 or 2019
