Thank you for your comment Guno. Yes, Kawai digital and hybrid pianos equipped with a soundboard are somewhat unique, in that they are manufactured as fully assembled, single piece instruments.
The advances in digital sampling and sound reproduction is absolutely stunning; they've 'almost' nailed it. However, there is no way, yet, to reproduce, digitally/electronically, the warmth, richness and fullness of the 'missing overtones' of vibrating strings. However, given the costs of the Grand Pianos necessary to create the acoustic experience, it is a wonderful and affordable alternative.
Hello Frank, thank you for your positive feedback. It's perhaps worth noting that the audio used in this video was recorded from the instrument's Line Out connectors. When listening to the sound produced by the instrument's own speaker system (including the soundboard) the experience is even more impressive! For this reason, we strongly recommend play-testing instruments such as the CA901 in person at your local Kawai dealer.
@@giuseppepaparo8977 The Line Out recording is very good, however, yes, the "in the room" sound is even better when heard through the instrument's speaker system.
What is the best use for recording? I guess recording on USB stick on wav file right? But do you also adjust the volume setting for recording or is it better to leave it at the standard volume for recording a file?
Hello, thank you for your comment. We would recommend capturing the instrument's sound as an uncompressed WAV file directly to a USB memory device. Recording from the instrument's Line Out connectors is of course also a perfectly good option, however this requires additional stages of digital-analogue conversion which may influence the characteristics of the recording. If the audio level of the captured recording is too low, it can easily be increased using a sound editor. We hope this helps!
Sounds great, played well. I tried the 901 in a showroom recently, and really want to buy it - but I read comments on some forum (and also found a clip on YT) that you can hear a loud click when releasing the key during the play … really true?
Thank you your positive feedback JCB! It's difficult to comment on individual cases, however in the event that an issue does arise with a Kawai instrument, the matter should be resolved under warranty. If you have not done so already, we recommend discussing this topic with your Kawai dealer. Thanks again!
Hi, i have right now an older model, the casio gp 300 which has an astonishing keyboard. I think it was above the level of digital pianos in that time. My biggest problem is the sampling of it. Many keys just dont really sound pianissimo if you play them. I also played other digital pianos by friends. How much do you think did the industry improve in the last years in terms of sampling. I also have VSTs. Is it possible to hear the output of a VST with the speakers of the CA901? The problem with my GP300 is that i can only hear the VST sound with seperate speakers that are connected with my pc. Another point that i dislike a bit about the EP CA 901, which looks overall really good, is the color of the branding etc in silver. It is probably the cleaner look but it would be nice if i could decide this color by myself. The golden color seems more appealing to me. Overall a good presentation of your new piano!
> Is it possible to hear the output of a VST with the speakers of the CA901? It has line input so it should be possible. MIDI to pc, pc audio output to some kind of audio interface, then output from that to line in. Something like that I guess.
Hello, thank you for your comment and positive feedback. Regarding your questions: 1. The CA901 has a 3.5mm (1/4") mini stereo Line In connector, allowing external audio (such as the output from a PC/Mac running a VST) to be played through the instrument's speaker system. Here is a relevant FAQ article that outlines the process: www.kawai-global.com/support/faq/how-can-i-play-vst-software-using-my-kawai-digital-piano-and-hear-the-sound-through-its-speakers/ 2. The CA901 and CA701 ebony polish finish models uses silver cabinet parts. Unfortunately, it is not possible for customers to order these instruments with brass/golden parts. However, we appreciate your feedback. We hope that this response answers your queries.
Hello Kawai. I Have been a faithful Kawai customer for years. It all started with a Kawai ES520 I bought to take with me. At the time I had a Charles R Walter upright. But I really enjoyed the Kawai ES120 so I decided to get a real Kawai and I bought a brand new Kawai GL10. I enjoyed that Kawai GL10 for two years and just a few months ago I traded in for a brand new Kawai GL40. I love this new Kawai GL40 but it is too powerful for my small apartment so I need another high quality digital with a realistic grand like action. Which model would you recommend to give company to my Kawai GL40? I’m very used to a grand action as I have been spoiled with the Kawai GL10 and now Kawai GL40 so it is a necessity. Thank you
Hello Gustavo, thank you for your comment, and for your patronage of Kawai instruments! Regarding your enquiry, if you are seeking a digital instrument with a grand-like keyboard action, we would recommend either the CA901 or CA701. However, for the ultimate grand piano experience, the Novus NV10S, featuring a grand piano keyboard action, is arguably the finest instrument in its class. You may be aware that Kawai also produces GL series grand pianos with both ATX4 (AnyTimeX) and AR2 (AURES) hybrid systems, allowing the instrument to be played with headphones, or for the volume to be reduced when in AURES mode. Hello Mustafa, thank you for your comment. The MP11SE uses the original "Grand Feel (I)" keyboard action, while the CA901/CA701 use the latest "Grand Feel III" keyboard action. Both keyboards share the same action design, featuring 88 long wooden keys that pivot on a balance pin like a seesaw. The GFIII action incorporates a number of changes and improvements over the original GF action design, such as "Ebony Touch" black key surfaces, as well as a revised key-to-hammer actuator mechanism. Both keyboard actions are considered among the best available in a stage piano and console digital piano respectively. If you are already familiar with the touch of the MP11SE's GF keyboard action, the CA901/CA701's GFIII action will feel very comfortable for you. Hello Nicolas, thank you for your comment. Please note that a bench is included in some regions but not in others, therefore we recommend checking with your local Kawai dealer to confirm this point. Regarding the material/finish of the instrument, the Ebony Polish finish is a usually a little thicker and heavier than the Rosewood and Satin Black/Satin White finishes, however the cabinet is equally strong regardless of the surface material. This is my feedback after playing it. I wanted to buy the 701. But It was a big disappointment for the action and touch. I played in a showroom the CA99/701/901 . The sound is not bad, but rhe action is not very nice. It's extremely light, almost unrealistically light, the 701/901 are even lighter than rhe 99. I think it's a non sense to make the successors even lighter. The touch is not firm. The Grand feel action III is spongy, unsubstantial, you feel that something is missing. There are not real hammers but just counterweight. There's a useless, pointless simulation of escapement. I don't like it's advertised as something close to an acoustic touch and action. That's quite untrue. If you want to study seriously advanced classical music, I would avoid these models. You might have problems to perform it on acoustic grand pianos, if you practice on these models only, unless of course you practice on acoustic grand pianos too. There's nothing personal against kawai here. It's just my honest feedback after playing them, the genuine disappointment. I went ro the showroom with the real intetion to buy it
