    Finally someone who shows what safety measures they take. I've seen many videos and people don't mention that they wear a mask. Very informative video thank you.

      That mask is only a particle mask (like dust) and does NOT protect against the dangerous fumes from resin.

    I've been playing with resin for a couple of years, so I've watched a lots of tutorials. What I like about yours is that you think to say what not to do, and why, like why you don't push the stickers down after adding the glitter. Lovely video, clear and concise. Keep up the good work.

    I'm in Aus also, and I use a resin from Spotlight. It's completely odourless and if you get it on yourself you just wash it off with soapy water (I always use baby wipes, they work much quicker and easier) and no harm is done. :-)

    I was just wondering if you use a mold release on your silicone molds, I have heard that you don't need to, but I don't want to get my work stuck in the mold. Love your tutorial, got a lot out of it. Thanks.

    • @craftymaddie1698
      @craftymaddie1698  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need a mold release at all. Once the resin is completely dry, it will pop straight out of the mold! Just make sure that you separate the sides of the mold away from the resin piece and it should come right out :)

      I visited the Barnes shop today (Richmond, VIC) and it's a resin crafters heaven in there! There are quite a few types of resins to choose from so it depends on what you want to do. I ended up buying the Clariti Ultra Clear Epoxy Resin (on sale till 25th Feb 2018) which takes longer to dry but it dries super clear.

    I have a question about when to put in cello glitter. I used your tutorial and it was perfect for making my pieces. All the mistakes I have are just because I'm a beginner lol but I realized that the cello glitter is so big that it causes large air bubbles when the resin is tacky. Should I do my first layer with the sticker, let that completely dry, and do a second layer, and immediately put in the cello glitter to let it sink?

    • @craftymaddie1698

  • @jab4093
    @jab4093 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    oh nice..i can´t imagine that i could push in a metal piece like this, without squishing the whole shape ,if its not yet that hard you cant get anything in at all. I really should make a new batch of resin as i just gor a complete 3d gem shape and made a bracelett mold as well x3 one thing i wonder, id like to add some glitter elements to the bracelet but since resin is like everfloating most of the even light stuff either likes to drift swimming to the top (even glitter) or sing to the bottom.. for the bracelett i cant do it in shapes. i have also discovered that ,even when it becomes quite hard and sticky after approx 4 hours and i push back in the puffy stickers, they still float to the top..hilarious lol. good quality resin,suggested for my purpose ,so that way its fine

    Just my opinion but i think blowing the resin bubbles might be kinda unsafe in terms of u accidentally inhaling the resin ?

      Jelly that’s why you do it in a well ventilated area she didn’t say that but you really should .

      Totally agree, not something that should be done at all.

      Its about not inhaling the toxic fumes. Using a straw is not a good idea at all.

    You're supposed to wait for the bubbles to rise to the top. You don't blow air into them that's highly dangerous.

    • @marikiemarie7622
      @marikiemarie7622 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol no it's not. Its causes no danger whatsoever. And no you cant wait for bubbles to go away....they don't go away. Its resin...they set! Lol you run a long barrel lighter over the top... but sense a lot of kids do this, its safer to blow with a straw...its not effective in least but at least a child dosent have a lighter. Lol
