Karen's voice is often described as 'angelic' because I suppose we don't have words for such perfection, but this is overwhelmingly human. If it doesn't touch you, you're not alive.
I have been using that term since the 70s. It is so life affirming to see that virtually every reaction channel, and i have listened to almost a hundred, have universally been touched and overwhelmed by this woman and her talent. SO LIFE AFFIRMING. My God, but I am so grateful to have come of age during their time. Thanks be to God. Father, you have shown me what your angels sound like when they sing.
I miss you Karen. I never knew you but miss you as if I had known you personally. I am shedding a tear right now. I wonder why??? What is it about this woman that puts my soul at rest??
@sjgavenger37 Welcome aboard to the many of us who emphatically agree with you. Pls help to keep her voice, music, and spirit alive today. This broken world needs her voice now more than ever.
I'm 66 so I've heard Carpenters music as long as I can remember. Karen's voice still sends chills up and down my back. Back in the day it wasn't considered cool to like them, but Karen's voice was just too pure to ignore.
Karen's voice is often praised for it's range & also praised for her emotional singing. 50 years ago Frank Sinatra said she was only singer of those days that he would pay to hear/see. He was asked why...and he said she is the only one of the young singers who works to clearly pronounce words. (Which Sinatra was possibly the best at). No need to search the internet for the lyrics when Karen sings.
i love those quiet days too. i like the woods for the quiet too. the world is too fast too much. i grew up with the carpenters..her voice was everything. lately pentatonix has been giving me joy because their voices and harmonies are so special. i really like their cover of john lennon's 'imagine'.
Karen had a three-octave voice and perfect pitch such an angelic voice at 62 I still miss her voice. She passed at thirty-two due to heart failure as a complication due to anorexia nervosa. A true artist, was taken from us far too soon.
There's nothing like walking my dog at night when it's snowing. No one out, no cars, just the peaceful beauty of the snow falling and the sound of the footsteps in the snow. I'm in the Pittsburgh area and 3 to 5 inches overnight and into the morning. Looking forward to a walk tonight and early in the morning and my dog loves it to. Geat song, maybe my favorite Carpenters song. Peace ❤
Nice job. Don't know Your age, (I'm 63) however I gotta say You are wise beyond Your years. Think I found this guided by our Lord tonight, because I'm missing my angel daughter that passed at 29 years old. We lost her due to what that other angel Karen was lost too: anorexia Nervosa. Your words gave me solace friend. As does their music, but it is as bittersweet, as it also rips my guts out. My daughter loved the Carpenters, and knew full well the backstory. Again, thank You, it's so cool to watch folks listen to songs people my age have heard since they came out new !
I'm 30, just one year older than your daughter was at the time of her transition. I'm happy to hear my words helped even if just a little but. This life gets so rough at times but I truly believe that when we leave these bodies it'll all start making sense. Rest in Power to your beautiful daughter. She is NOT going to leave your side and I know you feel her energy!
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song. This is one of my favorites but there are so many. It’s hard to rank. I’ll recommend one that is off the beaten path but Karen’s vocal just rips your soul out. Road Ode. It was written by two of the band members and is deeply personal to them. I’m also going to request a song from a new artist. Her name is Tori Holub. She has been compared, in vocal quality to Karen. Hi praise, indeed. I present one such praise… One of the covers she recently did is her with a piano player; Rainy Days and Mondays. It drew a comment on eye-geee from a user named paulielama2. He said of her rendition “beautiful, soulful, effortless … and felt, not performed. You are remarkable. Gifted. Thank you!!! Absolutely love your voice.” Now here’s your goosebumps moment. She replied to paulielama2 “this means so much more than you know, Mr. Williams. Thank you…” When the man who cowrote the song says that about your performance 🤷🏻♂️ I’m going to request her most recent effort. It’s a cover with a new arrangement of Georgia On My Mind. The Ray Charles classic. I’ll use a keyword search to it Tori Holub Georgia On My Mind That will go right to it, the art is Tori holding a camera. Joe
Back then, popular music was divided into AM and FM. AM had lots of oldies and soft music, and FM was for newer, harder rock music. The Carpenters were AM. We used to make fun of my sister for liking them, because the Carpenters were not considered cool. Now that I'm old enough that I don't give a damn about what's cool, I hear this music with different ears, and can appreciate her unique and these gorgeous melodies. Not to sound like a pathetic old man, but the music in the air was more beautiful back in the day. This isn't to say that I'd want to go back in time--life is better now in about a 1000 ways--but it was a golden age for popular music.
The most beautiful song from the most beautiful voice ever,so sad Karen lost her battle with her health issues but what beautiful music she left us,bless her heart😢❤❤❤
Karens voice is so full of beauty and emotion and her drumming and Richard’s piano, vocals and compositions. I’m from the Northeast (NY) too. Used to be very hectic and energy crazy. Like you said…different now. Your words are so true. Your purpose and peace/happiness are within you. Grateful! ❤❤
Karen had a problem with anorexia and depression which was the cause for her passing, her voice was a gift and she will always be missed, may her soul rest in peace
I loved your commentary on winter weather. I, too, find weather intriguing. Fog, snow rain, etc. Best if you're observing it from the comfort and warmth of your home, though. And of course, I love the Carpenters and thank you for your reaction!
Loved your soulful reaction!! I could see your immediate love for what you were hearing. You had an experience with really great music...goosebumps and chills from the start of this one, right?
My favourite song, second is 'a song for you', third is 'superstar'. The latter having the lyrics changed because they thought it was too raunchy for her!!!
U can feel the sadness in Karen’s voice she was going to depression and sadness Karen’s voice is 1 in a billion she was singing and playing drums that’s crazy and singing live no auto tune crap
Two vastly different songs about rainy days that I suggested you listen to are "When it Rains it Pours" by Luke Combs and "Raining on Sunday" by Keith Urban.

In my opinion Karen Carpenter has the most beautiful voice I ever heard.

💯💯💯

Pentatonix is incredible!

And she is playing the drums while singing!

Jogging in snow with my dog at night was always peaceful!
My favorite Carpenters song.. tied with "Top of the World". I remember when she died :/ Perfect voice.
This is one of my faves by Carpenters. Another one that I've been listening to a lot lately is Solitaire.
And go, Ravens! (Like your hat!)
Thank you!
Most people forget she was a drummer first, and a singer second...
Karen and her magic!

ULTIMATE vocalist (not just a singer) who sang TO US NOT AT US! therapy for the soul was/is her voice and how she used it.

Carpenters were speaking to the soul!
This song was written by Paul Williams, who wrote many hits.

I have full body chills.
Music for the soul!
Karen had a problem with anorexia and depression which was the cause for her passing, her voice was a gift and she will always be missed, may her soul rest in peace
😇💯
When I was growing up, she was on the radio just about constantly, vocal perfection.
BeautifulKaren and voice
Absolutely beautiful ❤

you talk the truth brother thank you
Hey, I really appreciate your analysis of this song as well as your encouraging message. Keep on rockin', man. 😃
Appreciate your comment 🤜🤛.
I love your take on the human condition. I so resonate with what you are saying❤
Miss Karen Carpenter is the true therapy for the human soul.... Ain't nothing on this earth even close.
When she died….the angels cried out “ Here comes our lead singer “
My favourite song, second is 'a song for you', third is 'superstar'.
The latter having the lyrics changed because they thought it was too raunchy for her!!!

HI MY BROTHER ❤
Karen's ability to sing and play the drums, and stay pitch perfect and not miss a beat, is truly amazing
was it a good song?
well done??
