- Today my agent partner Bree Tucker and I take to the streets of Mount Dora, Florida. We had a mission to talk to as many locals as possible. We wanted to hear candid feedback about living in Mount Dora. From the shopping, lifestyle, food, parking, etc. And oh boy did we talk about parking! Mom and pop shops are what make Mount Dora special, hope it stays that way.

I've lived in Mount Dora for just about 2 years now. Very happy with my decision. This was a fun video pointing out some of my favorite places, especially Serendipity.

Glad to hear that something is being planned for the parking. I've been in the Golden Triangle area for nearly 20 years so Downtown Mt. Dora has lost its appeal for me. I only go downtown when I have visitors. The very best is the Dora Canal cruises and my favorite restaurant is the Windsor Rose.

We drove from south Orlando to Mt.Dora a half dozen times. Always when an event is named. Great place with nightmarish parking problems on the weekend. They really need a parking garage somewhere near the downtown. The town itself offers affordable living if moving there from a larger city but needing to be not too far from major shopping etc.
And how would the increased traffic be handled ? I live in Mount Dora, and I used to love driving through the town. No more, as traffic is backed up everywhere. You don't live here; only visit.
@@marcanglin7127 I live here, born and raised in the area) too, and I agree, especially with all the new traffic from the toll road connecting Highway 46 straight into town. It's already ruined living here, like all the plans to clear land, build condos next to parks that were nice and uncrowded. Now, no privacy on walks like we had just a couple years ago. Having visitors is great, but destroying what makes it special to accommodate more people is just making it less special. Hard to see good things ahead when the planning committee has the same people on it that run the development company. Shouldn't be allowed.

Just closed on a fixer-upper in Mount Dora a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to moving up there in about 4-5 months!

@@kenpozek Haha!! That was our dream too. But man, those are hard to find because they get snatched up QUICKLY!! So we got a great fixer in the Lake Gertrude area. I'm an interior designer so I'm a gonna have fun fixing this baby up!

We don't need a 5-story parking garage. The traffic isn't just backed up on weekend (totally acceptable and understandable), but throughout the week now. How would the additional traffic be handled ? The streets are not capable of it. Leave my town quaint, and it will naturally limit the amount of visitors.
Absolutely agree with that! What makes Mount Dora a special place is it's quaint streets, shops, the park, all of it. I hope it stays like it is. A sweet place to visit and live.

Mount dora is my home town born and raised here, I have lived here my entire life and my parents have lived here even longer, it "was" a quiet peaceful nice town, but publicity like this has turned it into a mini Orlando and it is no longer the nice town it used to be. I mean the qualities of the city are still there, but the town in general is becoming over populated. Big businesses are popping up everywhere and pretentiousness is running rampid.
Update since last comment.... it has been almost a full year and homeless are now taking up spaces near the highway of Mount dora. Looks just like California now. Thanks Ronda rousey....

Mount Dora is over-priced souvenir, or coffee, or sweet shops for things nobody needs to be purchasing and not enough parking. They also have a high millage rate on property tax for your home. However, some people love that.

Nice place, but whoa, sticker shock on the price! You brag of "boat rides on a lake" and a "shortage of parking", and you want $300k for a 2 bedroom condo? No thanks.
