That is so amazing how you make it look so easy (I know how difficult it really 'is' ...) and the lead licks are so tastefully done and sound so good being played in the style of the respective backing tracks too!!! Thanks for giving me a whole new respect for the P-90 Style pickups I was not so aware of before Jimmy!!! Keep on doing what you do ... it's enlightening me everytime I watch your videos!!! Hi Greg…truly appreciate it man. As you are probably aware if you have been watching the channel, I just do what I am “feeling” at the time when I record the video. By the way, I've also been looking at the Redid RZT-22 Thinline Electric Guitar Archtop Semi-hollow body with Single-Coil Pickup that looks quite similar to the FFLS- I can almost feel a G.A.S. attack coming
The Redid is made by Grote (as you probably know) and the few Grote’s that I own have been very good….not familiar with the model you are referring to here, but I will take a look at it…🎸👍

Greetings from the Philippines Jimmy. There are so many brands of inexpensive well made guitars to chose from now. The differences really boil down to personal taste. I have two IYV 400's and they are both excellent sounding and playing. Thanks for the sounds you give us this sunny/rainy morning (here).
Hi jimmy I enjoyed the video and I am going to say that the IYV 400 difference was in the output but that being said they sounded very close and it maybe the IYV 400 had a bit of the tele sound but I think the IYV IJZ 300 TSB might be a little closer to the FireFly than the others. I also have just picked up the IYV IJZ 300 TSB and I think it is a heck of a Jazz guitar and very well built and the setup was really good I am excited about owning this one.
Hi Michael…the 300 TSB is a fine guitar! Glad you enjoyed the video. The idea here was to show three “similar” guitars using the exact same settings to show how they react both clean and with a bit of grit. Hearing them side by side like this is somewhat revealing without adjusting pickups/tone/EQ…etc…etc…truly appreciate your stopping in and sharing your thoughts! Much thanks…🙏🎸👍
Great episode Jimmy, there's a lot that goes into favoring one guitar over another, hopefully I'll never have to figure it out lol! One of the first guitars I got after I came down with G.A.S. (and before it was diagnosed) was a Firefly LPS purple burst, flower inlay neck with dual F holes- an absolutely beautiful guitar, I love it, but way heavier than I expected. The IYV IPF-350 was very much what I had wanted, great playing and light weight (the floral neck was a bonus, I have since added a Zuwei floral neck thin line tele that is also a great little guitar). I thought I was disappointed at first when I got the FFLS, but like it now that I have gotten used to it; it is just a different guitar than the 350, but a good comparison for this video. I, too, like the sound of the ITF-400 over the LS, it sounds fuller? More range? But again, may just depend on the style or sound I want that day. Looked around online and can't find any at the moment, hope they make another run of them, first dual F-hole Tele I've seen. Will be interesting to see what you are planning as the next comparison to the FFLS! Keep up the great work, I appreciate it!
Hi Scott…thanks so much for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed it! All 3 of these guitars are “similar” in that they are small bodied semi-hollow guitars with dual pickups and single vol/tone controls. The LS is a bit of a “hybrid” with its unique design, while the 400 is a Tele based Thinline and the 300 is based on the PRS platform. Both the LS and the 400 have Alnico 5 P90’s however I think the string through design and scale of the Tele gives it a brighter sound overall. I think once I change the LS strings and fine tune the setup, it’s going to be a great little guitar in its own right… Appreciate your stopping in and sharing your thoughts…much thanks! 🎸👍
Tele’s, Strats, LP’s are coming (few weeks) and another batch of MadCat Tele’s coming in next couple months…end of Sept/beginning of October time frame.
Great demo. I was liking the Firefly until the final song shoot out. The IYV tele was just perfect for that particular song. But i bet the FF will be perfect on other songs/types of music. Perhaps some Jazz? Also, just wondering if the Tele and FF pickups are at the same distance from the strings. The FF seemed quieter.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I didn’t measure distance to strings. Glad you enjoyed and I appreciate your stopping into the channel and sharing your thoughts…🎸👍
I agree, thinking the Firefly sounded better except the last song. The FF sounds closer to an acoustic guitar than the other 2 & the pickups seemed better in general on it.
Hi Michael….hmmm…I would say the FF LS would be the more “jazzy” of these. Don’t think it’s available right now however. @@kellythomas696 The FF is a great buy and a very good guitar. The Squire Classic Vibe is more expensive, but a step up with the Jazzmaster pickups and the Jazzmaster correct wiring. The FFLS is definitely unique! The ITF-400 does sound a bit brighter than the FFLS-at least on this end. It could be a difference in the winding/construction of the P90-style pickups on these two models, but I suppose it could also be the 24.75” vs 25.5” scale lengths. Both the ITF-400 and the FFLS sound fuller somehow than the IPF-300, which is a little surprising. I do get the sense that you personally bond with the FFLS slightly more than the other two.
