I wonder if the Marines present were of the 4th and 5th brigades. I was trying to see if they were wearing the French fourragere but couldn't make out the color to be sure. At any rate it was a wonderful memorial and a great honor to all the military personal participating. The French government has done a splendid job of maintaining the cemetery and honoring those who died in that war of a century ago. My grandmother lost her brother,age 16, in that war on the battlefields of France. I remember her telling of the day the telegram arrived. His body was returned to the United States. The medal that he received posthumously was melted down and used to make the placard on his tombstone.
