Great video thanks for sharing, don't have any quarter sovereigns. I have all other sizes. Sovereigns are sovereigns and they all need our love......size doesn't matter. Lovely sovereign backdrop, i love how you always find interesting topics that are food for thought, keep up the great work

There's always great alternatives for similar sized gold. It all comes down to what you can afford. I say buy any gold you can for the price you can afford. You will most likely regain premiums on the fractionals selling on the secondary market 😊
Yes it might be the best option Vs selling to dealers though an amount of work involved and a few other things to consider it can be worked out

The Royal Mint recently advertised their 2024 Bullion Sovereigns. They had a a quarter Sovereign in a blister pack for £98.90 with the capsule version for £131.95. I pointed this out to them on X (formally known as Twitter) & within a few hours the blister version was removed & still is. I'm not a fan of such fractional gold, but I did buy one earlier just to see how it looked & I almost need a magnifying glass to see it. Also it has not any historical value as it was only introduced in 2009. I wonder if I'd brought a few for £98.90 would they have honoured that price ? I have a screenshot of the coin, just for the record.
Yes they did honour the price it seems. Quite a few of these have been popping up for sale on 2nd hand market which would be an incredible coincidence. I agree though to me the recent year sovereigns just aren't as special as those from George V and earlier
@@SovereignSaurus I've noticed the number of GvR Sovereigns you have. I like his effigy & plan to get a few more myself. Many of his Sovereigns are in around extra fine, with great luster.
I've bought a back dated 1oz Welsh Red Dragon from the Tudor Beast series that was £200 cheaper than listed any where else from the Royal mint, so some pleasant surprises from the Royal Mint are possible.

I recently ordered 2 half sovereigns in the blister pack. One of them was okay but the other one was wonky and upside down. I asked to them to change it for a new one and they said sorry we can't. I've been spending thousands of thousands of pounds on them too.
It is a bit disappointing isn't it to get service like that. Imagine the equivalent in another purchase like you're in a restaurant and they've dropped the plate and it's been swept up or a new car and it's dented with a scratch across it

Great video mate. I like the older Sovereigns, however not a fan of the new ones. The old ones look like Gold, the new ones are too pinkish for me.
Yeah I'm with you mate. Whilst I've bought the 2024 sov it's just to keep the date run going. If I were to sell down some of the stack I'd rather get rid of the modern ones

The price of gold today is £1,616.64; however, 30 days ago, it was £1,579.11. I have the funds for a sovereign, but I'm hesitant to pay a high price. Would you still recommend buying now, or should I wait? Additionally, are there any websites or forums where people discuss whether it's a good time to make a purchase? Thank you
Personally I'd avoid discussions in prices. You see it with shares for example. People speculating on prices in a convincing manner and people get sucked in.
The roughly 2.4% change in gold price makes a sovereign about £8 more. Funnily enough I've got a video that just needs finishing on the exact topic but for now this video might help you

Nice pick ups! I do like the Krugs. There's no one best dealer for sovs it depends on dealer stock levels, what kind of sovs you're looking for, quantity etc It's something I'll cover on an upcoming video though in more detail 👍🏼

The bullion coin would likely be priced a few quid higher at dealers although they wouldn't pay more to buy it in.
Premiums on the 2nd hand market do fluctuate and when QE2 passed away people were happy to pay more on the 2nd hand market. The proof coin (same design but made to a higher specification for collectors) which had retailed around the £600 mark was selling closer to £1000 though the market has settled a little now. Proof coins typically retail at higher premiums and are aimed more at collectors than people buying bullion for exposure to the gold price
