There has been a homelessness crisis in Ajax as a result of the closure of a main shelter. Many of those on the streets are the most difficult to house due to mental health and addictions issues ( drugs & alcohol). South Ajax is the older side …south of Kingston Rd lots of homes built around the WW2 era, some industrial and light manufacturing plants. North Ajax is HIGHLY developed with subdivisions containing homes from $1.2M to $2-3M. There’s quite a difference between North & South Ajax. The population though small has exploded over the past 10yrs & so too has house prices & rentals. Anyway, so glad that you’re trying to keep it real. Living in 🇨🇦 is not for the lazy or weak.
