A rose like no other, incense without incense and a return to the human. Encens Mythique d'Orient is, without any doubt, the best modern scent Guerlain, or better yet, Thierry Wasser, ever created. Its fate was predictable, like many good things, moved away in a more modest bottle. It was reformulated but somehow still managed to retain its shimmer until, finally, Encens Mythique went away for good. I snatched myself a backup bottle, as it can still be found decently priced, but I cannot imagine myself without the scent where it is the human body itself presented as mystical offering to be worshipped.

Can't say I agree it's the best modern Guerlain scent, but I do enjoy it, a scent I'd describe as a slightly salty, soapy and aldehydic rose with less incense than I would imagine given the name. It's a shame it didn't sell so well at retail, as it has not been moved to the new transparent bottles more similar to the Aqua Allegoria line.
I really tried thinking of a better scent from 2010 onwards at Guerlain and couldn't think of one...

I agree with your assessment of the differences. Many believe there to be none.... Also I think there's a difference between the old and new Songe D'un Bois D'Ete/Bois Mysterieux (again many don't) ... Both are better in the older version imho. I appreciate your take on this ✌🏻
Hey, thank you! While there are differences, I really think they are negligeable. Side by side it’s almost impossible to tell apart.
@@MemoryFlo yea. Fair enough. I have the older Encens Mythique and the ambergris quality just does the trick for me versus the newer. But your right Guerlain historically takes care of it's reforms ✌🏻
Are we even 100% sure about their use of ambergris? I remember the hype for it some years ago but can we actually trust it? My point is, if the fragrance is great, should we really care? I’m genuinely asking 🤷🏽♂️

I just left a comment, and I think it disappeared. Very sad news to see this being discontinued, and even more shocking to see that the line has pivoted to being Absolus Allegoria. This line doesn't feel very connected to the other Allegoria perfumes, but perhaps they're trying to consolidate things further? I have a bottle of Ences Mythique I picked up in either 2019 or 2020, and that one definitely still had ambergris in it. I think I saw a video from Dacob saying the newer bottles no longer list ambergris as an ingredient. I got a bottle of Bois Mysterieux a couple months ago since it seemed to disappear, and it looks like Musc Noble is also missing from the. new line based on the UAE website. Is the new Rose Amira a reintroduction of Rose Nacree du Desert? I actually find that bottle to be a bit pretty, but it's such a surprising change! Lately it feels like Guerlain has been very actively revamping and releasing new fragrances, and I guess the cost of that is lots of discontinuations. Thank you so much for sharing this! I'm definitely picking up a bottle of Musc Noble before that one is gone too.
Hi! Thanks for dropping by! So, i haven’t smelled Rosa Amira, i believe this is some middle eastern exclusive, i have no idea about it but i do NOT believe it is Rose Nacree. The thing about ambergris and whatever people say related to this is simply: who cares??? Whether it’s “real” ambergris or not, we definitely cannot tell the difference or know. Guerlain have been very secretive about their use of ambergris and the only thing that matters is that Encens smells perfect with or without it. If you ask me, there never was any ambergris at all. It’s a damn shame about Bois Mysterieux and Musc Noble. I’m hunting for a bottle myself of Bois. The Aqua Allegoria question… it’s just stupid if you ask me. These have zero to do with aqua allegoria and it’s just a lvmh stupid marketing decision. 🤷🏽♂️ We’ll live and see.
I agree very stupid on their behalf I cannot stand the new bottles that are translucent I ordered Cuir Intense and Patchouli Ardent and these Bew bottles suck and I believe they did reformulate them. Tfs Ambre Eternel has that funk you speak of I love it
Hello hello and many compliments for yr English!!very interesting review, about my all time favorite perfume!i didn't manage to find the original version, but the other version in dark gray bottle i have 2, just in case...i didn't know until now it is also discontinued...😢as a rose obsessed i think it is the most beautiful rose fragrance of all, 2 years ago i went to Sicily for a holiday and i sprayed Encens mythique inside the bras...the bottle was too heavy to put it in the luggage...no need to say about the side-effect of that fragrance!!sooo sexy provocative even in high heet!also, never met such a combo like rose- ambergris!!by the way, does Bostan enjoys it😅?
