Thanks, Dave. I purchased 3 different retainers for my sunglasses recently, but none of them fit well, so I was happy to find your video which has great, straightforward instructions. I always have paracord on hand. Never thought about removing the inner strands, but that tip was an "a-ha" moment for me. Cuts down on the weight a bit & made crafting the ends a lot easier for me. I found a spring release cord stopper on an old drawstring bag & put that on to adjust the fit as you mentioned. The only addition I made was adding a 2 high-vis oval fishing floats to the cord before making the looped ends so that if my glasses get yanked off in the water, the floats will keep them from sinking to the bottom of the river. No trip to the store for the entire project.
The instructions were perfect. I was able to make an exact copy of yours, right down adjustable knob in the back in less than 15 minutes using basic tools. Good advice on the add a couple extra inches part. Total material cost = 32 cents.
Rather than spend hundreds on prescription motorcycle goggles, I used your method to keep my prescription sunglasses on my head, now i won't have to worry about shoulder checking and having them blow off. Thanks man!
Made mine tonight in preparation for a float trip in a few weeks. Gonna figure out what kind of float I can run the hanging back loop through. Nice tutorial.
Really cool video taught me exactly what I was looking for. Not really a 'bush' person but these tips are good for the urban jungle as well. I didn't use parachute cord but a nice shoelace - turned out awesome. Thanks. Also from the way you describe things, you sound like a good person that cares about what he is explaining, makes listening that much more pleasant.
+Lightnd thanks so much for saying all that. I really appreciate it. I've leaned so much from the TH-cam community that I thought I should offer something back. I'm glad you found this useful. Hope you stick around I'm planning on doing more vids this year and improving everything.
So helpful, thank you! I'm a writer & not very outdoorsy - I just wanted a quick fix for keeping my "other glasses" around my neck & this has hit the spot.
Good video. So I was thinking a few things: So to keep the cinching portion of your strap from interfering with your ear, create two cinching loop instead so that the cord attaches to the arm and holds the cord parallels with the frame. The next thing would be to use some sort of non slip material for those of us who own frames with a narrow end on the arm of the glasses. As an alternative one could actually use some elastic paracord, just some thoughts. Keep making them videos and I'm going to see what else you're doing on your channel..
Thank you so much! For those who have tried this method, does the strap also relieve some pressure from the nose (whether the glasses have nose pieces or not)? I have nerve damage on one side of my nose from wearing high prescription glasses and contacts are not an option. I had surgery but now I need glasses again. They won’t be as heavy, but because I have a really low nose bridge, it’s been hell all my life to keep them on without them hurting.
Hello Denise, thank you for commenting I love interacting with like minded people. I use the compression lock to shorten the length so that it fix the sunglasses to my head, kinda like googles- so they fly away into the ocean like what happened to a friend of mine lol 😂
I’ve seen people do that. I’d be careful though, I haven’t used shrink tubes and I’m afraid the paracord might get damaged? But I’m sure if you’re careful you can do it
That’s a fair analysis. Some people like doing these projects for fun and they have paracord lying around. Plus if you’re in a situation where you need cordage, it’s there. If you use survival cord w/ a metal wire for traps you’ll have lots of options on top of the inner strands. Thanks for your input 👍

Great ideas! I’m going to make an update to this video soon and I’ll add those great ideas
@@BushcraftDave That would be sweet if you could come up with something,, my idea started and ended with Gorilla tape, haha!
Thank you so much!

+arnoldbern thanks so much my friend. That's very nice of you and I wish you many blessings!
Great video! Want to make for my hubby. One question, what's the compression lock for? Adjusting length?
Hello Denise, thank you for commenting I love interacting with like minded people. I use the compression lock to shorten the length so that it fix the sunglasses to my head, kinda like googles- so they fly away into the ocean like what happened to a friend of mine lol 😂
Could you clean it up with heat shrink tubing over the end that holds the glasses.
I’ve seen people do that. I’d be careful though, I haven’t used shrink tubes and I’m afraid the paracord might get damaged? But I’m sure if you’re careful you can do it
Could cover the knots with shrink tubing to seal/protect & secure 'em...
Great video brother know what I am doing to my everyday sunglasses now.
Thanks! It was really fun and if you leave in the inner strands, you'll have a ton of backup cordage.
ty for talking me along
That was very cool - added to favorites
Thanks Dean, I appreciate it!
What's the initial length of the paracord?
Thanks a lot
Thanks for taking the time to comment 👍

why not just mark the side you cant pull on? pull on the side that is not marked?
Very strange video. It looks like you are talking and making hand motions trying to explain something but all I hear is music.
Perfekt
The word you are looking for is "Toggle" !
Thanks brother! Damn little things are very useful.
Bushcraft Dave lol ! Best Wishes from Bonnie Scotland !
That would be 10 extra inches on both ends. I’m done watching your video.
To much... Aggrivation and time can buy one on E Bay for apx $5,00 Bucks plus Free shp etc.

Don't listen to him! I'm a retired military wife whose husband gave her a HUGE amount of paracord! Bring on the ideas! New subscriber!!
You’re awesome Denise! Thank you very much. Lots of stuff on eBay are made overseas. Why not buy American made paracord and make it yourself
