    I feel like people worship celebrities so much they don’t see them as people anymore, hence why they treat them so terribly. It’s a curse to be famous and a blessing.

    • @williambeisel5686
      @williambeisel5686 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +236

      People worship celebrities so much they treat them as gods, as infallible and perfect, so when they do something they don’t like or have a different opinion people feel as though a god has fallen and lost their mandate, it’s such a strange concept to idealize people like we do celebrities

    • @temeria1986
      @temeria1986 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +43

      I think it goes both ways, either they see them as absolute gods, and worship them as such or they dont see them as people anymore and treat them terribly like you stated. In both instances people forget they ARE people.

      Let's not pretend celebrities don't play into this. I'm not saying they deserve to be doxxed or treated as "other". However, they market their own baby pictures and old clothes as if they are prized possessions and not just garbage or personal mementoes.
      As a society we need to stop idolizing people period.

      It's worse than that, "digital sexploitation" is a term used for when a person pretends to be a cute girl online and gets men to send them photos of their junk or of them whacking it, and then use it to blackmail them. They ask for money or they'll send it to their friends and family. A lot of men are just lonely and fall for it then unalive themselves. And a lot of the victims are teenage boys who think they're talking to a girl a few counties away their own age. Look it up. One boy unalived himself and left a note to his poor mother explaining what happened and that he couldn't live with himself and just wanted a girlfriend. They traced it to a girl in another country I think it was Taiwan and the authorities refused to do anything even though the person literally had solicited CP because the boy was a minor. The authorities just refused to get involved because it was international and not a big enough deal to coordinate with foreign police. And this happens every day and yet is never in the news, no one arrested, no one cares, and untold lives ended or ruined. I have a feeling if young girls were the primary victims there would be a national outcry, but this nation doesn't care what happens to men/boys.

    Yes, yes, you do
    Privacy and security are important and everyone should know how to take care of their stuff. Do what you can to protect yourself.

    The question rather is, would there be as much investigation and/or action from the government or media be if it were not celebrities, but rather normal people?
    Seeing that the persons in question were already trading in a lot of images of a lot more people long before this happened shows that the answer would probably be not.
    So IMO the public`s reaction of being indifferent is fair, as they would not get the same preferential treatment (or rather not treated at all).
    What I find more damaging and more attention should be giving to the lack of knowledge being spread by the media and the government on steps how to prevent this from happening to you.

    Honestly, I am quite disappointed with the comment section. It’s the exact same reaction they got in 2014. Comparing it to political documents, child p and other leaks is just irrelevant and a whataboutism fallacy. All those are important too - that doesn’t excuse the shame and invasion of privacy that happened to these celebrities. I think being able to sympathize with these rich famous people is a firm decision that no matter who it happens to, it was a totally disgusting thing to do. And then you can question why law force aren’t as invested when it’s common people’s nudes. You can sympathize AND be critical of society. And blaming them for taking the pictures in the first place is really shortsighted. It’s like getting shot and everyone else says “well maybe you should have worn a bulletproof vest. Or maybe you should have walked out that day”. The focus should be on how to tackle it, making people question revenge porn, data privacy and showing empathy.

      @@DudeWatIsThis what is a "huuar" 😭😭 but anyway ok sure, however exposing/trading someone's nudes is on a whole different level from just "trolling."
      since women are usually targets, the daughters and wives of the men in this video could definitely be susceptible to it. and then, since these men are actively doing this, it rly makes u question what they would think if the same thing happened to their wife or daughter, and so them being fathers with great influence over their female family members' lives is just a little concerning because of that, if that makes sense lol. also, trading these womens' photos online just for fun definitely speaks to how much these men value and respect women (probably not much!) which again makes it weirder for these men to be fathers. serial muggers aren't great candidates for fatherhood either but that doesn't detract from the fact that serial nude-seekers (or whatever u wanna call them) aren't great for it either

    I was an avid user of reddit when this happened. I didn't view a single one of those photos and found it disgusting how people were talking about it. People were downvoted en masse for saying it was gross to look at them as if the people viewing them were getting annoyed at being shamed for it. What I also find interesting is that the sub got shut down so quickly, yet subreddits like jailbait and creepshots which were photos taken of women without their consent, or of underaged girls, remained for years. I guess reddit wasn't all about "free speech" (their words) after all, if you're a celebrity effected that is.
