Doing it after would help to make sure the hem is even if you have large hips, since otherwise it could end up significantly shorter at the back than the front. My sister has an hourglass figure and she often has this problem with off-the-rack skirts. I imagine it'd be difficult to adjust a pleated hem yourself though - much easier if you were sewing the skirt for someone else.

It's so cute! It will sure try to use your tutorial. I have a question though, at the part where you separate the pleats between 0.5 and 1.5 cm, should I do it a little wider because my hips are really wide and my waist is narrow? I tried once to make a skirt like this, but when I sew the pleats diwn, I was unable to get into it
Most people I see install a zipper by doing a basting stitch to close the seam, sewing the zipper in, then seam ripping the seam back open. How come you chose to not close the seam and just fold in the raw edges to install the zipper?

Felicitaciones, y muchas gracias por su excelente enseñanza. Es muy oportuna ; ahora que se van a volver a poner de MODA las faldas para los hombres.
Las faldas y vestidos con falda para los hombres son las prendas más SALUDABLES; cómodas; económicas y fáciles de confeccionar.
Las faldas para los hombres deben ser muy sencillas y diferentes a las de las mujeres.
Las faldas para los hombres no utilizan cierre o cremallera.
Si se deben hacer es 4 ojales por dentro de la pretina ; 2 en la parte de adelante; y 2 en la parte de atrás, para que se sostenga de cuatro botones que van pegados a la camisa; ( a la altura de la cintura), y así no utilizar la correa o cinturón.
El cinturón es uno de los elementos, que más incómoda; y maltrata; porque lo que más incómoda y maltrata; ES EL TIRO DEL HORROROSO E INCÓMODO PANTALÓN.
Por Salud; por Anatomía ; y por comodidad lo mejor para vestirse un hombre es una falda al estilo escocés; o semicircular, con su respectiva enagua.

Idk if this is a dumb question, but how do the pleats stay in place? I tried making a pleated skirt once but it fell apart when I washed it...
Jacqueline Le Ironing, though she also sewed the pleats down a few inches as well.
It also depends on the fabric you're using. Usually, natural fabrics like silk and cotton stay in their pressed shape much longer, but they also get wrinkles more easily. Especially cheap synthetics are often impossible to press into shape.
Currently making this skirt, but longer. How do you keep the pleats so neat?

im having a little problem, my hips are 35 inches and my waist is 25. i made it with my waist measurement but i didn't add the zipper and button yet. my problem is that when i put the skirt around my waist, my entire butt is out. what in the world am i supposed to do?
