    He said he's100% VA disabled. What is he spening his VA disability payments on. If his wife works, I don't understand why they are behind 3 years. --They were irresponsible adults and just didn't pay🙃

      Check the rate of homelessness among vets over the years.

    I used to work for the VA as a psychologist. There are a ton of people who served a short time and then lived off disability payments. There are also a ton of people who really served and don't get enough in benefits because of the scammers.

      Yes, our veterans do not get treated well at all.
      I would have thought veterans get all expenses paid living and food once they returned. If the U.S. cannot afford that, then how are we even allowed to be a top country?

      I LOVE our servicemen and women but serving softens the hearts of all blindly some take advantage of that some deserve that respect and a break...No one knows what side hes on from this short conversation but Im not sure why he hesitated when Dave asked what the nature of his disability was thats sort of a red flag to me...

      @@cutlerylover I can almost GUARANTEE that the reason he is on disability is because of sleep apnea or tinnitus. He most likely served for a few years stateside, doing nothing, never deployed, yet somehow managed to get 100% disability. He couldn't say the actual reason to Dave because he was atleast cognizant enough to realize how ridiculous it would've sounded to the hosts. If he was 100% disabled because of, lets say a wartime injury or something that happened while deployed in a warzone, he would've said so immediately without hesitation.

      I’m 100% to. I just got My first job after the military after 4 months but I’ll tell you all My bills were paid during that time. Now they’re really going to get paid and investments accounts will be funded

      Seems like he just started working again. He did say he would be able to make the new catch up payment plan the mortgage co. had set out to him but wanted Dave's opinion on selling. Anyone with that high income is paying a ton in taxes, they don't bring home nearly as much as 200k. Still they have a great income. Don't be so quick to judge.

      Hey, I lost my job at first lockdown. Spouse got a small temporary raise. Still we paid all our bills.. including mortgage on time anyway. Then second lockdown I found a much better paying job!
      AND we finished getting completely out of all debt except the mortgage.
      It CAN be done..they chose not to!
      And our 30 yr mortgage will be paid off before the 10 yr mark, not even10 years.
      It can be done, they chose not to!

    My grandfather - God rest his soul - was career military and fought in Korea and Vietnam. He more than qualified for VA disability but refused on the principle that he could function alright and the "other vets deserve/need it more than he does." So it really grinds my gears when I suspect a vet is taking advantage of the system. He was slow to answer the questions, and when he did they were simple and evasive which tells me he is lying, and between the VA payments and his wife working, they were more than capable of paying their mortgage. JACK IN BALTIMORE, IF HOPE YOU SEE THIS -- SHAME ON YOU!

    I never made 200k a year. My income wasn't overly great. However in all my years of being a mortage holder. I never missed one payment or been late. The guys a scammer.

    Working at a bank, the longest person I see go without making a north payment was slightly over 10 years. BK filings and other strategies can be used. Sadly so many people can’t go from not paying for years to having to pony up a $2000 a mob payment.

    This just blew my mind knowing 100% disability is tax free and can be as much as the equivalent of a high 80K-low 90K salary’s take home pay. We all have flaws and mismanage occasionally, but no way staying in a home for 3 years mortgage free

    My neighbor claims the vet card when he sits all day in his car drinking since 7,8 am in the morning he never even fought! He was a cook and never in an active war zone, but somehow the war that other vets fought has him with "ptsd" being a prick that he is and his house is always surrounded of some trash because he refuses to pay trash service and he let's all his pantry donations that church bring him outside in the rain, snow and sun just to waste. I know he's capable of more as he has sole custody his teenage kid

      Veteran here and a therapist. PTSD isn't just experienced in war zones. There are other experiences that result in a PTSD diagnosis.

      @@thinkforyourself9334 the people I work with. Retired military, 100% disability, don’t have to pay property taxes and brag about collecting retirement, VA disability AND their current paycheck.
      There’s people out there who will help retired military get a 100% disability rating. They advertise it all over LinkedIn.

    I got 6 weeks behind (injured leg 0 work), lender sold my mortgage. Working on the jumping through the hoops. 6 yrs ago it was sold (I wasn't notified) & automatic payments went to 1st servicer, but not paid to new servicer. Easter wknd, I came home to locked house & lots of items stolen from it!

    I’m in the service and I don’t like how people like this can abuse the system for $70K while still talking happily about selling and making $100K profit, disability or not. He would have been fine if he sold off three years ago, or even one year ago, but made the active decision not to, depriving others of much needed resources.

      He was on furlough for three freaking years. The point of the program is to help vets get back on their feet so that they can eventually find employment and make payments again, not live rent free and speculate on their house value. The taxpayer is writing off the banks loss this whole time mind you so it is a burden on society.

    After market crash in 2008 we went three years without payment. Then let house get foreclosure. We came out ahead. Dinged out credit but we got ahead again.

    I know too many people, way too many people, that claim “disability” from the military who never saw combat and their “disability” is simply a way to use the system. Granted, the men and women who fought and have PTSD and injuries from war should be taken care of…period end of story. I smell a rat with this guy.

      From veterans I've talked to, your percent of disability can have a lot more to do with how you play the system than how much you actually need it. Of course some people need it, but functionally it's no better than other government programs.

My brother gets $2300 of “disability” yet is a full time cop….and is always broke lol 😂 i know plenty other veterans with the same scenario.       PTSD is no joke and neither is the pain Veterans have to indure after the military beats their bodies up for years.
      You also don't know his financial situation or family dynamics. Yes, there are people that scam EVERY system in this country, but at least Veterans did or sacrificed something for the country they are receiving benefits from. Judge based off what you KNOW not what you assume.
      And while you are talking trash about your brother, at least he had the b-a-l-l-s to serve his country and now he is risking his life to protect civilians in his city. What are you doing besides watching his pockets? Im sure he'll get his finances in order one day. Hopefully you've tried to help him instead of hating on the money he earned and talking ish 🤷🏽‍♀️.

    Great Video!! From my perspective, in order to acquire stable housing, it is essential to have a reliable financial plan. Personally I work with a fixed income planner and portfolio manager in the US.

      A lot of people downplay a planners role, until burnt by their mistakes. I remember just after my previous job layoff, i had to stay afloat, hence researched for licensed fiduciary advisors. Thankfully, I came across someone of practical knowledge and experience. My reserve fund of $225k has yielded nearly $1m after subsequent investments.

    Ya'll make 200k, lived in the house for 5 yrs and skipped paying the last 2 1/2yrs. That is shameful for a vet. You didn't work for 3 years because you were getting a VA check, so you still had an income.

    why weren't they putting some thing away to make at least make an occasional payment? It is my opinion that they decided to just take advantage of Covid mortgage payment furlough. I have experiences with Vets affected by PTSD, that did not cause them to be irresponsible.

    Do you know how hard it is to not to have a job in 3 years. Thats a supreme level of laziness. Legendary level of laziness. Last time I checked VA gives you a disability check and you get a G.I. Bill. You could of gotten a degree in 3 years and several higher paying jobs.

    His disability is definitely not 100k. That means wifey probably makes over 100k. Why are they behind? They could've paid the bill. Dave did not handle this well.
    He should not sell. The unpaid bills will be on his credit report. No landlord wants a tenant like that. If he buys another house, he'll probably have 2.5 to 3 times the interest he has now. He should just pay off his arrears.

    Houses are paid for at closing the promissory note is deposit as a cash receipt and therefore the amount is discharged in full .
