But there was a time in the past when, in my opinion, this party could have moved on from the family and could've been an ideology based party in true sense. Sonia Gandhi & Rahul Gandhi had little to no power in administration of the UPA government from 2004-2014. As Dr. Manmohan Singh had full administrative powers in his ministry and he never gave Sonia Gandhi any cabinet position. She was the leader of the party but never a leader in the government & she only advised the government on policies, but never enforced or made them.

They supported him as a minister of the government since he was an ally and was skilled for the position. But why would they support him in a high position, when he opposed the parties main positions. If you want to support him instead of the INC for what ever reason, fine by me I don’t want to tell you which party is correct or not, I’m not a politician or campaign worker. But it’s less likely that the government would’ve choose him. It’s the same way how the Shiv Sena never gained the Maharashtra CM position & controlled the ministry many times during their alliance with the BJP.

Technically she cannot become prime minister of india as she was a forign national under indian law. Then how come sacrifice..?
That's the excuse she gave to the public, that her "inner voice" told her not to accept PM post. But had she really become PM, that would have been challenged in the court and probably she might have had to step down.
I don't have anything against her personally, she had married Rajiv Gandhi and she is an Indian citizen, no disputes. However I will never accept her as PM (so do crores of other citizens). When we have over a billion Indian born citizens why should we rally behind a woman of Italian origin? Can't we find someone more eligible among Indians?

What more than present days would confirm as proof that Gandhi Family shouldn't ever trusted someone else with Congress Party and it's power that belonged to the people of this country- their enemies were always mightier yet they manage to keep good bargain for common people at ground- and all of it was possible mere because common people at ground were good folks and they cared for what's happening around themselves and what would be its consequences on future ones.

Sonia is a self made leader. Remember she lost her husband and naive to India, yet took leadership role in Congress (and we know how women used to be treated as second fiddle then) and rose above all congress men. She speaks English and Imperfect Hindi but she connected with people, reason being she was straight to point or target. She led India, when no one was willing to take charges. Though there are big blunders done by her, i thank and respect her leading India in tough times 🙏.
She has been truly inspiring for anybody. In life again and again you will face harsh time but you need to be strong to face them again and again. Being a neutral as a strong woman I always respect her for all the things she have suffered and facing them strongly
