If you have those disposable ribbonizers clips, you can apply the glue after use this tool on the video. Of course will take more time, but it's a great tool.

The glue is mandatory. If not, When you lift the fused ribbon into the heater, the fibers will cross up and either break or macrobend in the sleeve.

This tool is theoretically correct but not practically. I am still using the fuzjikora glue ribbonizer.

Okay now how do you strip the fiber after you get to that point? We tried to strip it with a Fujikura RS03 and it strips only the outer fibers and just pulls on the rest

Then you need to change the settings on the RS03.. More heat i guess...?

How do you get the 12 single fibers in heat sleeve

You put the sleeve on before you follow the steps of this video.

How would anyone finish splicing in a maintenance window with this? It looks terrible. Those are just 12 fibers smushed together not a ribbon. Doing it by hand is still the fastest way and makes the best ribbons. You guys have good glue though @AFL

You don't have to wait 30sec per ribbon for curing, you don't have glue everywhere, and you don't have to sort through the bundle in the color-coded order, just grab one and throw it in the proper slot.

@@lucasmays1622 When doing big counts you ribbonize all at once so it really doesn't matter how long the curing takes. If you have glue everywhere you need to chill out, I do these often and just barely wipe my fingers between each ribbon and have no problems with excess glue. This looks like a tool to let inexperienced splicers get in over their heads.

@@coreyharrison324 Good point... If you're that skilled and organized, I can see that. I've just seen a lot of folks who are neither lol so definitely an ease-of-use factor with this tool I think. I also like that this loads directly into the holder, so yes you need a few more holders, but you can do the same thing (ribbonize all at once) and then just pop fiber holders in the splicer 1 by 1, rather than having that extra step later.

Lol what happens when you have re burns?Go through the same process? I’ll stick to my sumitomo thank you, in the time it took for 1 ribbon I’d have 3 done

you keep your thumb on the fibers behind the clamp, open the clamp, and pull the fibers forward at the nose - pretty easy

An experienced splicer could probably do it a lot faster than a product demonstrator. But I was wondering the same thing about reburns. Ribbonized splices don't always go right on the first attempt...
