So good to see the young crew sailing Sarah Ann Chris. I love the way you handed her over to them😊. That kind of trust builds healthy people🤗. Thanks for your time, effort and heart you put in to each video🙏.
Their mum was stoked. She has a great way of raising boys. It was easy to trust them. They have been very well mentored and their skills are second to none.
@@SmallSailboatCruising I wish more young people were brought up like that; I'd have much less work to do🤪. This reminded me of a chat we had quite some time ago about you being involved with young people. I wonder if you are open to considering that again as I could put you in contact with some amazing Bush Adventure Therapists that you could work alongside of. As you may remember I run 9 day sailing/camping BAT journey's for young people who struggle and young leaders and so experience the amazing therapeutic opportunities sailing brings with it. Happy for you to PM me if this may be something you may want to explore😊
Hi Robert. Message me when you have a moment. Easier to keep our thoughts together there I’ll share my phone number there. Much has happened in my life since our last chat.
Chris, I've said it before and I hope I'll get to say it again: all the work you put in, whether to building, maintaining and sailing traditional boats, or to filming, researching, editing and publishing your videos, is an invaluable contribution to strengthening and perpetuating our historical maritime heritage. Thank you, and congratulations!
I appreciate you encouraging me on that Tony. I’ve been working on improving my skills on a lot of levels. As you know it does take passion and hard work. Recently I’ve been working on my interviewing skills. I would love to sit with people with very nice boats and interview them. I’m a bit timid in the way of asking. Any introductions would be appreciated. Chris@visualnarrative.au if you message me I’ll give you my phone number. I think the channel is poised to take flight. Imagine if I could do N interview with a sailing identity each week? NOw that could be a lot of fun and provide a lasting legacy. I’m might also get to sail in some beautiful boats as a fringe benefit!
Hi Chris, our Carmen 31 has been shown in the past 9 Wooden Boat Festivals in Hobart and will be entered in the 2025 festival as well to keep the tradition going. As such we are humble caretakers of this beautiful yacht. Based at Port Huon at the moment. Happy to keep in touch. Cheers Bruce
I hope to be there too Bruce. Mines never been there before. She spent most of her 53 years in a shed. If you message me on FACEBOOK Messenger it will help to stay in touch. @smallsailboatcruising. Cheers Chris.
Gotta love Tassie and their wooden boat history, those timber motor sailers that come from there with their pilot houses, powerful engines are boats I'd love to own. Great vid champ, lovely
Well, there's no substitute for the beautiful lines of jet skis and their ability to weave in and out amongst more passive and quiet recreational water users, but you do have a particular knack for offering us TH-cam dwellers something to ponder in their absence. Thank you for your efforts. You really do capture what "it's" all about.
@@SmallSailboatCruising Oh, what a wonderful perspective to capture their creativity from. Perhaps, If you are ever in Melbourne on a hot summer's day, you could record them in all their splendour as they manoeuvre around swimmers in the shallows, seemingly with no fear nor a care in the world. I can even see potential for a series of limited edition prints. The "Thomastown by the Bay" series.
Great to see your video of the rally, and especially to see some footage of my Tinkerbell underway! The restoration of Rebecca was done under the tutelage of Jeremy at Cygnet Wooden Boats.
A great video really enjoy the music and seeing all the old timber boats. Very nice of you to hand the helm over to the next generation. Always enjoy your videos and look forward to the next one. Cheers Rick
Thanks Rick. The next one should be very interesting. I’m heading off down the East Coast of Tasmania for a 5 day cruise. Weather is looking good so hoping to get out on the open water.
Hi Chris, great video. Just purchased a timber Swanson Carmen 31. Had her surveyed at Kettering prior to purchase and did a short sea trial out into the channel. Wonderful aerial shots around the Kettering marina in your video, so thanks for that. Cheers Bruce
That would be a thing of great beauty. I have in mind my next step will be something like that. I did a video on a fibreglass 36 ft Swanson. Loved it. You sailing out of Kettering? I’ll look you up next time I’m down that way. Maybe you would be open to an interview? I’m working in showcasing a series on Tasmania’s wooden boats with first hand accounts by owners. Message me if you’re interested. Cheers Chris.
great video ! brings back memories of enjoyable days in the chanel in similar wooden boats many years ago [e.g Grayling and the Derwents and the Tamar Class dinghies] - thanks for that
Wonderful gesture towards your world class crew Chris. Congratulations!!!!
I don’t think i overstated it. They are being well mentored.

It is good to see ‘Gloria’ completed. I saw her during her build at Wilson’s, and she was a piece of perfection; a floating piano!
She’s a thing of great beauty for sure.

Couldn't agree more! Sailing is still my thing but who knows. Maybe a motor sailer in the future.

You’ve got me thinking about a drone shot from high above showcasing the creative tapestry they can weave around the moorings.

Staggered they got away with that.
Thanks for taking us on a simply lovely ride.
Glad you enjoyed it

Jeremy (and probably others) has done an incredible job mentoring those young guys. Their skills were nothing short of superb.
Great to see those young fellas aboard, Would have been good to interview them. Gary
I thought so too but I wanted to respect their identity. Maybe another time.

Well done Chris, an informative overview of Tasmanian boating history.
Thanks James. Appreciate your feedback.
Another great video, thanks!
Thankyou. Hope to get another out next week. Might be the last sail this season and will be moving into a big maintenance phase over the winter.

I love doing the music. Glad you liked it.
Great video, from the footage itself to you taking on some young enthusiasts.
It gave me such a buzz watching those guys go about their jobs like pros.
