    I'd love to do this with a '70s Ford F700 or a Dodge D700 but that takes play money and play money I ain't got. I'd prefer to get one with the old 5 speed transmission and 2 speed axle. Gotta love shifting 10 times. Great video though!

    Good ole American truck. Not many of those generation Chev & GMC medium dutys on the roads anymore like there use to be back in the day, but the light dutys on the other hand I still see around sometimes.

    • @TheDutchTexan

      @@TheDutchTexan they're all awesome. It was either 1989 or 1990 was the last year for those generation medium dutys. 1973 was the first year for them & the light duty models too. On the light duty models, 1987 was the last year for the half ton & three quarter ton regular cab pickups, & 1989 was the last year for the one ton regular cab pickups.

    Great review and nicely editted.
    This truck in Nederland would be nice, but indeed, ain't gonna happen.
    An updated powertrain would enhance drivability a lot though..

    • @TheDutchTexan
      @TheDutchTexan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the kind words! The only thing this truck could benefit from is a different set of rear gears to bring the RPM down a little when cruising at 60 IMHO. It has plenty of grunt to keep it moving and it isn't wasn't designed for speed anyway. It hauled dirt for a living!

    It would be perfect with another $5k. Air bags and a smaller rear end (but keep the big axle). Also semi truck mud flaps with the chrome lady at the bottom to finish the aesthetic.

      MPG? LOL!

    • @machscga6238
      @machscga6238 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Most Gas Medium duty trucks get 4-6MPG but a handful can get up to 10MPG... You want to look (in Chevy) for the 366 Tall deck big block, ad you need one of the lighter drive trains in the Transmission and Diff... I only had one this good.
      If it's diesel it can get between 9-15 MPG depending on drive train... If you want good fuel economy your looking for a 453 2 stroke that is 💯% guaranteed to fail any emissions test your asked to take, and once again it needs the lighter transmission and diff to actually get any respectable mileage.
      My advice on fuel economy is not better mileage, but a different fuel... Wood gas, WVO, Bio diesel, Ammonia, Edison electric axles 🇨🇦, ect, ect, ect.

    Those 366 sure suck the gas

    • @machscga6238
      @machscga6238 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      As someone who has driven alot of these Medium duty trucks the 366 is one of the most reliable engines ever over built and unrivaled cooling. It's reliability is good competition for Diesels.
      As for MPG nothing in these Medium trucks get good mileage but the 366 is better than the 427 tall deck as well as it's Ford and International competition. Most of these trucks only get 4-6 MPG but the 366 can get 7-8 on certain trucks.
      The main reason for the bad fuel economy is not the engine it's the Transmission and differentials they are paired with. If you put a 366 into a normal truck with a normal Transmission and rear gear ratio it's actually better than a 350 or 454... and Chevy beats Ford on Fuel efficiency every day of the week when it comes to V8 engines. The only time I would trust a Ford to get better economy than a Chevy is if they show up with a 300 inline 6. (But Ford is good at other things)
