Great video and great mower. I have the same one with over 600 hrs now. Quick tip, for greasing that center deck spindle, that small hole you put the grease gun hose through, right behind it is a black knob, take that out and the entire floor pan comes off. Makes changing belts easier too
Dude!!! This is by far the BEST maintenance video that I have ever seen. The close-up split screen camera angles really helped to see what you were doing. I haven't decided on a ZTR Mower yet, but your video on how easy the maintenance can be really helped. Thank you for keeping it simple. This video was really professionally done! Nice job!
This is an excellent video! I felt comfortable doing all these items myself because of your video, so thank you! I didn't have an oil filter remover, so I ended up having to use the "drive a screwdriver through the filter with a hammer, then use the screw driver as a handle to turn the filter." Not my favorite option, but it worked.
I have the Husqvarna mz5225, and my oil drains the same. Takes forever!!!! Other than that great mower! I wanted to add your video/camera work is fantastic. I love the close up shots within the wider view.
Great video man! Thanks for putting effort into the camera angles too, that makes a huge difference. I wish everyone's videos were this thought out. Subscribed!
This is great thanks! I just bought one of these used and I think all they did was change the oil on this thing so I’m definitely at least getting the grease gun out today
Thank you for this video very good camera work love the split screen showing exactly how to place the wrenches also thanks for your comments on this mower I was not sure if I should purchase it you gave me the confidence to pull the trigger.
Have same brand, a great mower, zero turn 46 cut zero turn but occasionally have pblm with turning, mower stops w no fed or back or turning - what could be the pblm?
I am using the ones in the kit. If you're asking what the spark plug part number is you can look it up here: www.husqvparts.com/husqvarna-mz-54-sn-967696001-01-parts-manual/
Yes i have a 4x4 on top of the floor jack to lift it. Its actually not heavy to tilt the front up, can lift it by hand. Use jack stands to secure of course before going under.
I have a Kohler 7000 series 24hp and about to yrs ago I had to have my valves adjusted and I only have 285 hours on it it was hard to start that why they needed adjusted
@@NaterTater I finally did mine. I have a Kawasaki engine on my MZ54, but generally the same method. The oil came out very slow as expected! I have the same white oil tank between the seat and engine that you have, with the filtered breather tube sticking out hanging in the air, which is strange to me. The tank is basically empty, it says 20W-50 on it and I'm not sure if it's for the hydro's or if I should mess with it or not. Any ideas?
The oil draining that seemed like the biggest pain in the butt because everything else you did rather quickly. I wonder next time if you bought more oil and poured it down there while I was trying to drain that way workflow faster I know it’s a waste but just a thought.

I’ve done my first oil change at about 12 hours, used Mobile 1, but at 22 hours getting ready to do the first lube. Thanks for the great video!!
Glad it helped

Thanks Nate. Great video that I will refer to next spring when I get ready for another mowing season.

I appreciate that!
Explained clearly. I was able to follow and do this by myself with no problems.
Awesome!
Thank you Mr. Tater. I did my H maintenance today. I appreciate the help. The video was thorough in explanation. 👍🏽
Glad it helped

Nate you have way of making any subject interesting. I don’t have a zero turn but still enjoyed the content.
If you say so. 😆 thanks for watching! 😃
Excellent vid, just bought one of these mowers a few days ago, love it.
Nice 👍
To help the oil come out faster you can take off the oil dipstick and it will help the oil run out faster
Yes good tip and that was done here.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
No problem
Thank you very much for the video. Helped me a lot! Cheers
Great to hear!
Thanks for the great info and video
Nate tater is a mechanic

Thank you for video! What is the p/n for the blades you use?

What size belt is needed?
Do you have any videos of changing the hydrostatic fluid?
I don't. Sorry.
I have a RZ5424 that wont start. I have checked everything except the solonoid. However I am having a hard time locating it. Can you help me find it?
Awesome.

Nice video thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Your mower is pretty much like my Dixon ultra 61. I believe husqvarna bought out Dixon about 10 years ago. Same mower different name and color.
Nice, I didn't know that.
Yes! If you get the chance google Dixon Ultra 61
good video, what spark plugs did you use for replacement?
They're included in the kit. Link in video description.
@@NaterTater I don't want the kit. What spark plug are u using

I would like to see more vlogs of you kids with and as well as you in them too. Btw subed. Your so underrated.
They'll star in some more videos soon!

What is that lift that you are using? Is that a 4x4 piece of lumber?

How many hours does a tank last? And how big is your tank
About 3hrs at full throttle. 5 gal tank
Do the spark plugs come pre-gaped or do you have to gap them yourself?
I dont see anything that says they come gapped. Mine were close though
Olá!
Consigo trocar os rolamentos da embreagem?
Só consigo tirar um o outro não consigo tirar
i am sure they are changable but I havent worn out my clutch bearings yet.
@@NaterTater mine with 250 hours of use has already worn out husqvarna mz 54 and I have a pz 60 that already has 1500 hours in perfect condition
👍🏼thanks!
You're welcome!
Hello - do those Kohler engines need any kind of periodic valve adjustment?
Manual says every 500hrs check/adjust valves
I have a Kohler 7000 series 24hp and about to yrs ago I had to have my valves adjusted and I only have 285 hours on it it was hard to start that why they needed adjusted
Does opening the oil fill cap speed up the oil drain?
Yes and mine was open. 😔
@@NaterTater OOOF. I have one of these I will be following your steps next spring.

@@jimknowlton342 yes top off that hydro fluid to the full line. Mine needed to be topped off after the first several cuts. Now it stays steady.
If you run it for a few minutes before you start the oil will flow much faster. Just be careful as everything will be hot.
Yea, I let it warm up. Faster but still slow as a 🐌
@@NaterTater Use full synthetic. Runs smoother, good for all temperatures.
I recommend unplugging the spark plugs before working on the blades.
why? Have you ever heard of spark plugs causing the blades to engage when the mower is off?
@@PeaceIntheValley The mower can start if you spin the blades.

Perhaps but I've just learned to drain it first and do everything else. Seems to work out.
@@NaterTater a trick is to tilt the machine to the side so that it drains faster but its good to change everything else on it
He didn't even grease all the mowers fittings.
He Ron, thanks for watching. Some fittings didnt make the final video cut.
