The guard was absolutely out of line and should not be working in security. With that being said, I worked security at Kroger before. All I can say there is a consistent pattern of certain people stealing and when confronted make accusations that you're racially profiling. Same ones that will intentionally do things to look suspicious, have their kids steal, get your attention, then respond with accusations when you confront them. That is especially why those working in security need to know the laws in your area, know your post orders and know exactly what your company policy is. So many wanting to be the next one standing by the lawyer collecting a paycheck because they got someone to fk up. Stay sharp fellas! And btw Kroger, pay for real Security professionals. I know what you pay security companies, what they pay their guards. You get what you pay for!

If u consume food or drink before paying whether you have intention to pay or not is considered stealing period. Now that is cleared up even still he shouldn't be putting hands on people that's a liability to the security company and himself opening up for a lawsuit, I'd sue.Esspecially if you have video evidence of him physically dragging you through store. You can't assume someone is stealing unless they've passed the final point of sale. To be frank however people do try and do shady stuff and when you catch them they play victim I've been in security for yrs, but I'm not stupid enough to create a liability like this genius.

Yall need to understand the law. Eating the sandwich in the store is not theft. If she had attempted to leave the store without paying for it then it's theft. All he had to do is watch and see if she would try to leave. Now, there's the argument of whether or not she was going to pay. They can't prove her intentions so he should have waited. That's the law.

Racial profiling is a general term that applies across the board to everyone. However the only prohibition is for government agents like police, FBI etc... The security guard in this case is a private citizen acting as the owner of the property in his absence. If a private citizen or property owner decides to racially profile there is no offense. It's not government or systemic oppression. There is no constitutional violation in this case. Kroger is a private corporation and it's directors and security can remove any one they want. In other words can I come to your house and act a fool?
@@frontlinek9 That's not true at all. The owner of Kroger's doesn't even know who the security guard is, so claiming that the security guard "represents" the owner is false. And Kroger's isn't a private home. If they want someone to leave, then they should call the police. No need for physical violence.

So the first one got caught stealing. The second one may also have been stealing by trying to consume the sandwich prior to getting to the register then resisted the security guard, got pepper sprayed and removed from the store. The third one, who knows? Same family, same lack of respect for authority and rules? Once again we see excerpts of videos that do not start at the beginning of the interactions, that do not show what the women may have, or may not have, done. Editing like this should always make one suspicious that the full truth is being concealed. Did the woman in the one video say something to the security guard that prompted his words? Full video would show. Why not show it? This guy is just doing his job and ironically not ignoring potential theft because he is afraid of the outrage machine whenever certain people are held to the same standards as the rest of society. Would like to get the full story, not just the snippets that they want you to see to try to gin up that outrage.

The third woman is my cousin and I can verify that she was not stealing. My aunt had to go in and collect the groceries since my cousin couldn’t get them after the incident happened.
Also, there was no reason to call someone black and ugly. That was racist.

We don't get to see that so we do not know. I do know that I have watched quite a few videos that seem damning but when the entire incident is shown, the context shows that the clip was very misleading. I am always suspicious concerning when a video begins and what led up to that instant.

She put it in the bag and the guy came up to her and insinuated that because she put stuff in a Kroger grocery bag that she wasn’t going to pay…. I know several people that use the same brand bag from the same grocery store, go and pay, and never have issues. It shouldn’t matter the type of bag you use to go shopping with, as long as you pay for it. She wasn’t even done shopping yet or at the counter at that point.
You can’t go up to someone and accuse them of stealing without evidence at that point. It’s not like she tried running out of the store with the bags full of merchandise. Of course if that had happened, that would be wrong because it’s stealing.

As a security guard myself, my question is, for the women with the clear bag, did she walk beyond the cash register area and go outside? If not, then it’s not stealing!
Just because someone opens a sandwich or any product and eats it while shopping, is legally not stealing UNTIL the person walks past the cash register AND walks out the door WITHOUT paying.
I’ve been thirsty and hungry food shopping before. I’ve opened a gallon of milk, sodas and chips before while I was still shopping WITH intentions on paying afterwards.
More than once without a buggy, thinking I can carry everything and find more things on the way. I’ve put things in my pocket instead of walking all the way back to get a buggy.
If security would’ve came at me in an aggressive manner like that, I would’ve let them put their hands on me or even spray me for just the simple fact, I haven’t walked past the register nor went outside. Therefore, no crime of theft or anything has occurred.
If a security guard that sees something like that, then they should stand by the register area and wait for them and see if they pay for the items. If not, then approach the person in a calm and professional manner.
They got caught and pulled the race card to try to cover it up. He wasn't lying when he called her ugly. The special needs lady looked just fine standing in front of that camera. And if the other lady's stuff was too heavy to carry she should've gotten a basket. Not a damn plastic produce bag. Take accountability for your 🐂💩. 🤷🏿🤦🏾

He should be given a raise. The women came back to harass him after they got caught stealing, how is that a difficult concept? You didn’t pay for it, it’s not yours, you’re stealing. These individuals are just trash being painted in a golden light.

I have worked security at some very disturbing places in Houston and have seen some disgusting behavior. All the location managers have always told me the same thing again and again. We need security in this location because 1 thefts , 2 vandalism of automobiles , 3 concentration of homeless around area . But you have to be careful on how you handle every situation. 💀💀💀💀

Regardless if the security guard is right or wrong. Once he went hands on and sprayed her. He lost his case. All you are allowed to do is observe and report. Peper spray is only allowed if the guard himself is in an immediate threat of bodily harm. Which he was not. What he should have done is 1, wait to see if she was actually going to pay for that item first. 2, follow her to her car, and then get the plate number. and 3, Have the security footage reviewed. And if there's proof of theft, then have your supervisor or store manager call the police.

That's not the law. Stealing is when you intend to deprive the store of their property. That's why when the store calls police, police are often waiting for rhe individual to attempt to leave the store at the doors. That's the law. Just because she ate it does not mean she was intending to deprive the store. It's like eating a grape out the bag on your way to checkout.
What if someone is diabetic and needs sugar immediately so they don’t pass out and have a seizure. Are you going to tell them to pay first? No. They treat themselves first and then pay. There are certain circumstances you must take into consideration before you judge someone.

Honestly, since this was bought up. I have seen people eating unpaid food in the grocery store for decades. They might have kept the food wrapper and had it scanned, but there is a growing number of people eating grapes, strawberries, cherries, etc...stuff that needs to be weighed, which is stealing. I have to say, the majority of these people are whites. I remember I was going to do this when I was a little boy, and my mother stopped me and stated don't do what whites do because I will be the one that will go to jail. This was when my mother explained to me the racism in America and why I can't do certain activities. I remembered a week ago, two white women walking around the grocery store eating grape after grape. We even got in the same line to checkout. The bag was half full from the original size, and they didn't mention the grapes they ate to the clerk. I wonder about that...what if that was a non-white that did the same process? Would the security guard zoom in and come down and arrest this person for stealing????

I was raised in an era where one does not consume any food until one pays for it. Well that was shocking to hear that nowadays one can eat food in the store b4 paying for it..wow
well we are living in the last days of this wicked system 2 Timothy 3:1-5..
sometimes people provoke a scene or disturbance and sadly the person they are trying to upset takes the bait. the security guard is a person just like every one else and has a snapping point and well he let loose his. so yeah he should not be in that profession if he can not control his temper. I once had 5 black women circle me threatening me, yelling at me, cussing at me, and I stood still stand firm in my faith. i preached to them and they still kept trying to provoke me. It was scary yeah and I eventually quit my job since my employer did not fire the black people for fear of retribution by NAACP or BLM groups. They did not hit me nor slice my tires even though they said they would, but I was able to keep my cool by praying to jesus christ even aloud. I was scared and shaking at some point but I maintained my mental faculties, was not rude nor insulting, and calm. When they were trying to provoke me and were lying I kindly answered them back and preached god's word to them which made them more angry because those with the devil does not like to be reprimanded about Jesus christ teachings. If this woman was a true servant of jesus christ she would comply even if she was the victim. She sounds haughty and yelling and screaming at someone if if you are in the right is against what jesus preached. So many people today are going to go to hell. Love thy neighbor is lost. submit to others is gone. neither did the security guard nor the customer submitted to each other by their actions both were haughty and prideful.

The security guard is completely out of line with how he handled things, however you don't open unpaid items before paying and if you have to many items to carry get a buggy. Seem like they are setting themselves up to have issues. Follow the rules like everyone has to.
Exactly!! I don't think it was a racial issue. The guard is definitely an ass and is not allowed to touch people even if they are stealing. I work for the same security company but in a different state. He should be fired. But these women seem to be those typical "professional victims" doing things that they know are not right, just so they can sue.

I don't do this,but I'm sorry I've always seen instances when someone has opened and started to consume a food/drink item and have paid for it at checkout. I've seen this as a child until even now as and adult. And it can be a person of any racial background. I've seen plenty of people do this and have never had issues as long as they are paying for the item(s).

My gym is next to a grocery store and sometime I'm very hungry after, and I sometimes will open a protein shake and drink it before paying for it but I will only do this if I'm standing in line already and I simply hand the cashier the empty bottle to charge me, there is a way to do things, but I also don't condone the way the lady was dragged out 🙏🏿

Here's the facts. Kroger is cheap and woke. They hire low bid security companies that provide zero training. The guards that work Kroger are about the lowest paid. Lowest bid is certain to yield lowest quality when it comes to security. They will pay $60hr for off duty PD, but armed guards at Kroger are starting about $15hr. What kind of guard will you get for $15hr? A crap show lol
