    Open minds, and sincere reactions. Also the man opening the fruit knows how to do it. There are natural fissure/splits that break apart, NO knife needed. Excellent!

    It's great to see so many open-minded people willing to give the unique fruit a try. I'm a huge fan of durian as well; awesome that you tasted it first to make sure that it's good before letting other first-timers try it. Many people had negative first experience because the one they had was either not ripe or a frozen one that was too old. Very nice of you to share these one of a kind experience with others, hope you and everyone have a wonderful time :D

    The name came from local word "Duri" which mean "Thorn". Since the whole fruit covered with hard shell and full of sharp thorns, that's why we call it Durian which mean "Spiny" or "Thorny".. Most famous fruit in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

    In Malaysia and Singapore, the locals and the street vendors never picked the durians from the trees. The locals only harvest durians that dropped naturally, which signifies that the fruit is at its best taste and smell. Sometimes I really feel bad about people living in other countries wanting to eat durians. Those durians bound for other countries are always plucked when they are not really ripen and frozen so that it can be delivered on time for the "ripeness" when it reaches the supermarket of those importing countries. If you guys really want good durians, you guys should travel to malaysia or singapore and try to eat the Musang King durian (the best of the best)

    • @asianlionsofasia8982
      @asianlionsofasia8982 7 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      I can't deny that Malaysia's durian is the best in the world and so good it becomes apart of our culture and the only fruit season that has an impact on us is durian season but saying musang king is the best is so wrong but i don't blame you because you don't have father that was a durian farmer or uncles that are durian farmer.My father and mother's brothers are famous durian farmer and many good trees that bears very good fruit are not make known yet to public. In my lifetime i have tried most well known durian but only one durian tree bares a unique durian fruit out of my father's 100+ trees

    A large group of very nice people. Love to see them.....so kind and content and happy . And very open to the mysteries of the durian experience. Trust me, when it comes to durian, the word taste although adequate for all fruits does not describe it. With the difficulties of opening the fruit,it's aroma and the rich taste......Its an "experience".

  • @ijoeys
    @ijoeys 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    From the look of it, i have a feeling that that durian you are sampling comes from Thailand...
    Malaysian chinese growers have in recent years identified certain high grade breeds like Blackthorn, Musang King (Fox King), D24, Udang Merah (Red Prawn), IOI, and many more, based on criteria like the overall taste, sweetness, amount of flesh, small seed size, etc, with the highest grade of Blackthorn (grown in Penang) to date which can fetch RM200 per kg...
    The most expensive durian ever auctioned recently was in Thailand for a rare Kanyao breed at Bhat 1.5 million = US $48000...

    wow! I don't know where you are located. You people are the most "polite" people I have seen trying durian, no matter they like it or not. I wish I know how to grow kids like yours. Interestingly, most of them had a positive reaction to the fruit. It's all about how you introduce something to someone. If you present it with negative vibes, you will get negative reactions. Even the ones who didn't like the fruit didn't have an overly negative reaction to it like you see on some TH-cam videos.

    you need to try the fresh one, because it has entirely different taste and aroma/smell.
    Durian is spiky because it has duri(spike)...lol
    The reason why durian so spiky (IMO) is because the spike protect the inside...

    glad some of yall like it. it requires an acquired taste. coming from SEA myself, it is indeed the king of fruits. based on the video im seeing, it seems to me like the durian u got there isnt as ripe, as it looks like its pale yellowish. if you can find those with a golden yellow color, thats when u know u found gold lol. its also great in smoothies, ice creams, and typically served as a dessert in some cases. dont eat too much of it tho as it can cause abit of an inflammation on the throat. it also dehydrates the hell out of you! enjoy it, but not too much!

      Yakin bisa ngabisin 10 buah sekaligus?
      Saya dulu juga pernah sesumbar mau ngabisin banyak.
      Tapi setelah beli satu yang sangat besar ternyata gak habis.
      Perut eneg dan panas.
      Emang saya suka. Tapi kalo 1 buah yang besar saya gak habis.
      Kalo yang kecil saya masih sanggup.
      Segala sesuatu yang berlebihan gak bagus

    @The Raw Life Health Show:
    I think some people need to eat more than just a small piece of meat durian. Durian will not show their taste properly if you eat just a little piece.
    Try to take a bigger slice of durian, it will show you a real taste of durian.
    But the durian does not have the same taste each. It depends on their maturity. And also, there are some people who love the sweet taste and some people who like a little sweet and a little bitter from durian. :)
