Great topic, and you always bring the most beautiful examples, Nina. I don’t tend to rearrange, but I put a lot of thought into best arrangement, taking into account so many criteria, as you have noted here. My favorite depends on the room. If I have a fireplace that will allow two facing sofas, I do love that. I had that in a 1925 Colonial Revival with a Batchelder fireplace with lovely wood surround mantel. It was a lovely gathering spot.

I’ve never had such a struggle arranging furniture untill we moved into our current home.
It’s a mid century design, I think, and built in the 80’s.
The concept of the design I was told was to benefit from the sun and shade using a passive solar design method with the sliding glass windows throughout the house.
We get incredible light, and views.
Being above the Columbia River in central Washington lends itself to incredible views, but the angles in the house is a challenge for me to make sense.
I think it’s quite easy for me to decorate a square, even rectangle room, however any square, or rectangle I try to manage ends up leaving me little space for ingress and egress.
I don’t think I should cover up the sliding glass doors, for wouldn’t that be a Fo paw?
I think one door could be used as it’s not normally accessed.
The fireplace in this room with all the sliding windows a hugh rock wall that extends even to the adjoining rooms. It’s massive, a wall of rock. The builder I think got his inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright.
It’s actually easy to live here except to make furniture placement make sense.
Sorry for the confusion, welcome to my world.
Thank you for your video as it does help abit.

Hi Nina, I may not have all the areas that are being presented but you give all the reasons why something looks good or why it won't. Very informative, concise and easy to comprehend. I recently found you and see that I could get a 20 minute consult with you. I have a large cobblestone
tower in the middle of my home as you walk in door. It's walls touch kitchen, living room and entry way. It can be challenging. I think I've been pretty successful but would like to change things up. I would need some guidance for a future date. Just love that I found you.

I’m trying to do my mm
Other’s odd sized long, narrow family room with a 15ft floor to ceiling brick fireplace, a staircase, lots of windows snd 2 exterior fdoors (1 regular exterior, 1 set French, 2 2 interior doors) and2 interior doors and balcony above fireplace.. the biggest problem is all the windows and doors, no where to put tv, and fireplace has 2 exterior doors at each side one to master because and other to kitchen. I cannot come up with a way to design the furniture and what furniture to buy. I was really wanting 2 sofas facing each other vertically to each side of fireplace, but we’ve, but the door from kitchen to doors that open to her pool, cause a lot of traffic through there and wouldn’t have enough room to walk by the couch to go outside. Them can’t put tv over fireplace bc we have a full chimney. Do tge wires cannot be run there. I need to know the placement of everything for that room in can tell if we need extra outlets, for lamps and a tv hookup. The room is 25ftx15ft. Narrow with not very much wall space at all

Love your style Nina and thank you for this great video! We have a traditional home with a fairly large and balanced square living room with wood burning fireplace. We added a large almost u shaped sectional as we use this space as our watching tv, relaxing, having company over space and we have a husky mix large dog so everyone needs to fit 😊 we have the sofa up against the back wall and facing the fireplace and tv, I can’t have it off the wall too much or put anything behind it due to our dog but it seems to look ok. I use a lot of throw pillows and blankets to give it dimension and visual interest. Is there anything else that you’d suggest? Thanks so much 😊

I have a long rectangular family room with a corner gas fireplace. The other side of the fp opens to a small room formerly used as a dry bar area. The family room is partially open concept with 2 counter/bar areas…. the other bar opening into the kitchen. It’s just the most awkward room for furniture placement… this type of room would be a great project for your design talents. I do enjoy your videos very much. Thank you.
