Kicking off in Blackpool: Friday Night

- I was expecting a quiet night walking around Blackpool town centre in January, but there was a bit of trouble on Talbot Road involving three police vans and an ambulance.
My Blackpool calendars are sold out, but I do have an astronomy calendar available here stephencheatle...

I think a lot of pubs are suffering now. People are drinking more at home I think.
Well where I live it's about £5 for a pint of average lager, if I want a cheap pint I'll have to head to the next town but then the people there are a little rough lol
@@TheGodParticle bars in London now anything up to £8 for a pint
Yes most people drink at home now. Much cheaper. I go to a football supporters club, pint is £3.60, quite reasonable, but no atmosphere, no music, just the array of screens showing football or whatever else is going on. Oh the good thing men only lol😂😂😂😂😂
"Staying in is the new going out" propaganda created by the media
@@stuartb4525 i support a team called maryhill f.c in glasgow our club is 2.50 bottled beer 3 pound pint happy days 😄
Cost of living ? whilst the money Laundering shops keep on going! Barbers during day and kebab shops at night country has gone to shite !
I really enjoy your videos you do such a fantastic job keep up the good work for us all, 👍
Thanks Martin.
Great video
Since the 'plague' I have made my own beer, wines and spirits. It is easy and is fun, especially distilling. So why go out? Inflation has ruined this country aided and abetted by the government freezing the income tax allowances. However, why would one go to Blackpool , or any other resort, in January? Make your money in the season and go on holiday offseason is a good idea. Good video , thanks.
Blackpool desperately needs a lick of paint.
It's all kicking off on Talbot road 😂
Valentine day is on 14th February
Queen square looks nice
Sad that the lights have been taken down but they'll be back next year. I think places are shut to refurbish and get ready for next season. Harry Ramsdens is over rated Stephen, disappointed last time I visited. People haven't got any spare money after Christmas so cut back on pub visits. Thanks for going out in the cold to do the video for us Stephen.😊😊😊
good to see cash machines, keep cash alive of we will lose it.
Not much of a romantic Stephen if you don't know when valentine's Day is.😂
I’d make a hopeless romantic lol 😂
They probably have to keep the tower lit up so that Police Helicopters don't crash into it Stephen
Or the UFOs 😊
Nice video ... 👍... Seeing the bus in your video reminded me that the buses in Blackpool are still run by the council, which is a rarity indeed, most areas of the UK buses now being owned by the major bus groups "Stagecoach, First bus and Arriva", Blackpool transport was founded in 1885 by Blackpool borough council and still owned today. Buses and trams operated, something Blackpool should be proud of running its own public transport fleet. Your videos are very watchable Stephen, so I'll be hitting that subscribe button. 🙂
Remember when I used to walk through town in the 80s you used to see a lot of couples holding on to each other..also parents with their children going to family events..What's happened?.😢
Sad isn't it!!?
--I remember int he mid 90s a group of us from work went up to Blackpool for a weekend, from London. The Saturday night we walked through the town centre on our way to a club. When we turned the coner in to the main precinct there was the biggest brawl I had ever seen in my life going on. The whole precinct was alive with people scrapping and bouncting each other off shop windowns - boys and girls. We just bunched up toghether and gingelrly ran the gauntlet as we passed through it sheliding our faces from the heat - as it were. We almost made it to to the other end when suddely about 20 riot squad vans pulled up at each end of the precinct and blcoked the roads off. Riot police in full riot squaed poured out of the vans and then got in amonsgt it all. We made it through the whole thing and came out at the other side and were never so relieved to get the club! We weren't sure i f we were going to be mangled in the brawl or bashed and beaten by riot squad for a minute!
Immigration and cocaine
Problem with pub's is the prices, £5 for a pint, we hardly go out now, drink at home for £6 4 bottles of quality ale from the supermarket, if the prices came down more folks would use the pub's again.
@@Vincent-jl6vu Your point is? Master of the bleeding obvious...
We need “It’s Kicking Off In Blackpool” AWOTWS T-shirts. 🙏🏻
I was just about to post the same thing until I saw your post lol
Just said to my other half I want a T-shirt with that slogan on! Great minds and all that 😉
Blackpool Clowncil do very little for the homeless in Blackpool despite having £1000’s of pounds given by Government.
Amazing Graze is he one who helps the homeless and those struggling on Bolton Street and they also have the Big Red Night bus….never seem to get much publicity though despite the amazing work they do.
Pub owners are probably in the Canary Islands for their winter sun holidays and trying out the cheap booze.
When I lived in Blackpool the hoteliers complained bitterly about each season but most, it seemed, were weighed down by their gold trinkets and they could always afford their fortnight in the Canaries. It was hard to be sympathetic.
Lilys fish and chips...had last week....totally superb. Plus dogs are allowed.
Every time I hear police sirens I think it's kicking off lol 😂😂
Valentine’s Day is 14th February not the 8th February
21:43 another good video Stephen. January the worst month of the year. I live in a small southern town ( Bexhill on sea east Sussex) and it is pretty quiet all year round but in January it is completely dead but I notice the effect this month has on Blackpool and because it's normally busy it seems to be exaggerated more . You are right about the cost of living crisis having an effect with people having a drink more at home which is a shame because going out for a drink has always been the social side of life so let's hope this crisis doesn't last much longer and Blackpool gets what it deserves LOTS of holidaymakers 👍
.
Thanks Robert.
People can say what they want about Blackpool, but at least if someone beats you up they call for an ambulance. You cant say that about many areas.
Stephen! I didn't know that Valentine's Day is celebrated on February the 8th, in Blackpool! 'Lovely night walk, very nice to see what Blackpool looks like today, thank you.
Please stop saying its all kicking of in Blackpool. You don't know the reason.I do and it was a health issue a serious health issue.Get a grip.
See you on the next video.
I live in blackpool just 15 mins walk and it's changed alot since the 80s. The pubs and clubs are more noisier now than then. I suppose its a new generation now.
Wasn't Techno a thing in the 80s?
It’s chav generation now.
Always think it looks dead compared to our days, same everywhere today pub, club scene dying
too expensive@@bigprob8744
@@bengaltiger1289 90’s for me
Pubs are struggling to stay alive they mainly sell alcoholic drinks the only none alcoholic drinks are soft drinks if pubs and did cater for people who drink alcohol due a health condition it help the pups and survive only supermarkets and small grocery shops seem to sell none alcoholic versions of well known brands of beers wines &spirits it is about time pubs and clubs started to the same
Blackpool by the sea did go on and on sad the illuminations have been turned off but back to normal now I don’t think you can beat Pablos they been going for years arrrr me Premier Inn nice and quiet ❤ lively tour really enjoyed it till the next one 😊
Good Morning Steve. Yes, very sad to see the streets so dark and quiet. There is still one or two bars sort just about still running. Like you saying, it is the Cost of Living now is so very Expensive. I do not blame people not wanting to go out anymore. I could not believe seeing so many places closed now. Must be very hard to keep open when the foot has gone down. So many pubs, are closing now. It is really the sign of the times, that are living in now. People, just want to stay at home now, it is there little Heaven and they have a drink or two relaxing on there sofa. It is a much better and cosier place for them. My Heart goes out to those poor and weak people without a roof over there heads. There are still Human Beings, they should be looked after and given a bed and some Hot Food and a Drink. Thank you Steve for sharing your movie. Look after yourself my Friend. Keep warm.
I think you should have paid a bit more attention when you was at school.
Can’t believe how quiet the town center is back in my day ( 70$ ) after the season ended all the locals would come out and play ,most had been working for the season , so now it was their time to play and have a great time , we would go to Jenks wine loge 007 Adam and Eve , we would drink in the Blue Room , just can’t understand why they didn’t come out and have a good deserved time .
gone Spain etc
Looks pretty dead in Blackpool. ☠️
Looking forward to the Valentine’s Day stream on Feb 8th.
lol
🤣🤣🤣
Getting me through another night shift again mate, love the videos
Hope your shift goes well and you get a good kip tomorrow, from a fellow shift worker.
Glad to hear it
Hi Stephen enjoying the videos as always😊. We are coming to blackpool in September this year for my sons 18th birthday. Looking forward to coning down especially for the illuminations. 😊😊😊
Great video Stephen, can't believe how quiet Blackpool is on a Friday night
Never had any trouble as yet..Just keep my head down.
Nice to see you back in Blackpool. It’s quiet this month because everything is closed and I think the people need a break after Christmas. nobody wants to come when everything is closed. and it still goes dark early. But there’s still always something kicking of somewhere in Blackpool. Have a nice Sunday Stephen 👍🥰❤️
ITS ALL KICKING OFF IN BLACKPOOL!!!!! It was all kicking off last night in my Square when my knobhead neighbour got a letter from the council about their antisocial behaviour & we all got accused of getting the council on her silly bugger 😂😂😂😂it must have been mad Friday 😂😂😂😂
14thFEBRUARY IS VALENTINE'S DAY ,STEPHEN 🤣
Doesn’t matter what day it is, I won’t get a card lol 😂
when is it not kicking off in blackpool?! lol
Ffs it's a drunk shuffle
It's all kicking off in Blackpool 😅 another interesting great video Steven 👍
I always say "It's Kicking off" everytime I hear sirens now.
I got what you meant by opening for Valentine's Day on the 8th Stephen... So many people commenting "it's the 14th!" 😂
Guess they have all bought into the notion you MUST go out on VD itself and not when it's convenient.
Hi, we really take issue with your comments regarding our venue (Brannigans and hush) in this video.
We have an incredible team who have all worked very hard through a busy season. For some of the staff the short closure has come as a welcome break as we seldom have weekends off in this industry and it can be tough. For our staff that are free in the week and would like the extra hours they have been down at the venue working very hard to get it right! On top of that all staff are on a part wage for the 3 weekends they would have worked.
I do not know why as a locally owned family business you decided to single us out as we are not the only venue in the town centre who have scheduled their refurb during the winter (or even this month, or even this week). I can’t help but feel your decision to spread what is obviously nonsense (you always spend more on wages during a refurb) has come across as quite malicious to the whole Brannigans team.
In future if you do have any questions or just fancy a chat or if you even want to see the improvements we’re making during the refurb please feel welcome to come down or message us and you can share more informed information with your viewers.
We would love to hear back from you regarding this.
@vonsausage6312
We felt it best to offer a part wage for the 6 nights the staff aren’t working and to offer more hours in the week to work on the venue. Staff hours during the first week of the refurb alone have exceeded their would be monthly hours 👍🏻 the staff are happy with this arrangement.
As a local owned independent business this is the best we can offer to keep our whole team going out of season unfortunately.
I apologise wholeheartedly. Normally I'd always mention the venue when passing, but on this occasion I mentioned something I overheard on social media, which was not an ideal thing to do. Hopefully we can arrange for a walk around video of the venue. In the meantime I will edit the clip in question.
Least Blackpool still has a Marks and Spencer's. Most are closing down. Bolton's has gone. Blackburns is closing down.
She said ‘’got any gum ‘’ and you didn’t help her ,you just walked away 🎉😘😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I could see things were about to kick off so I got out of there Ross kemp on gangs
I could see things were about to kick off so I stayed and filmed it
A walk on the wild side
place is down the pan
Is the price of beer different in the bars around town
It's up & down. I found Bloom Bar on the North Pier one of the most expensive.
They shoud give them somewhere warm if it gets below 8C never mind zero!
Hi 👋 Steven Another fantastic video 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Food prices appear to have stabilized after a year seeing an increase of fifty per cent on the contents of our shopping baskets. Either that or they are taking a little break in Blackpool. I hope not.
I do miss Christmas by the sea NOT. 😂😂😂
Not short of pubs,no wonder there’s problems in Blackpool, like other towns,Booze causes so many problems
It’s looking dark and bleak in Blackpool Stephen everyone has gone home. Let’s get the summer here again and it will kick off yet again.
When was Valentines Day moved to February 8th?
Lol it's only a cash machine Stephen many folk use them for normal things
Catholic club is on Queen St. lol. Great video, love your channel
My bad pal.
Love the video stephen as always top content.shame about the christmas market and illuminations going but be back before you no it as time goes so quick x look forward to your next upload 🎉
Thank you very much Stephen for an informative video. I don't look around Blackpool nowadays so I feel as though I've had a brilliant tour with your videos.
Great video Stephen ..poor Blackpool looks forlorn lol ..I really enjoyed our few day way in BLP end of November looking forward to coming again when weather gets better and definitely be there for the soul weekends ....
It's simple economics.
Throw up a cheaper price for a glass of beer, and the people will fill up your place.
Money Talks and BS walks.
Valentines day is on the 14th February not 8th February
Blackpool is a midden, has been for the last 30 years.
That lady is always kicking off in Blackpool im from Glasgow 🏴 ans i see her all the time shes nice when shes not full of the rubbish she takes lol 🤣
Hi Stephen just to let you know mate that the Booster will be back at Christmas by the sea from the 1st of November 2024 to 6th January 2025 buddy.
Thankfully we didn't see any fighting or anyone getting hurt. Thanks for the updates, stay safe my friend 💕 👍

When does it ever not kick off in Blackpool?
It's kicked off again, tonight.
And can you answer my question why you got Sadiq Kahn while discussing Bradford?
Do you know there's a big event at the winter gardens mid February Stephen. The annual Blackpool Magic Convention. 4000 attendees from all over the world.
great video, the pub trade is allways quiet after xmas, for 1 month.people have to save to pay off the credit card .😆
Hi could you go and look at the president hotel as we are coming over from Belfast in July and staying there thanks from lee and Stacey
That was a really good vlog Stephen, good to see it was a night time walkabout!

This is very often occurance in big places like walsall it's out of control sign of the times unfortunately
I laughed at what you said at the cashpoint your quite funny Stephen 🤣🤣🤣
Not quite sure where the kicking off was 🤔 a few police vans with flashing lights 🤔🤔 exciting stuff 🤨😐😐
Valentine’s Day is feb 14 Stephen I should no it’s my birthday and it’s not the 8th
Alot of business close this time of year these days Stephen, there's alot shut round where I live.
I love your BP Videos we come to BP twice a year from Northeast Scotland
Thanks for your video! Doing what I would rather not do of an evening :)
Nice little video thanks again Stephen did you find out what was kicking off with the police or you still non the wiser
Hi Stephen I think it's so depressing when jan/Feb come around and when lights have gone it looks awful till you get used to the lights not being on
I love it at this time of year. I can easily get to work, I can take my dog along the prom without crowds of pissed idiot tourists. I can take my kid to the park and she can actually get on the swing as it’s not over crowded.
No stag or hen groups screaming obscenities sexualising everything in front of kids.
Closed season is bliss
Blackpool used to be a really good place to spend a holiday but now its gone downhill badly and run down
Is the vegas dinner anything to do with the place round the corner where the entertainers perform? and if so is it still open? in regards to SWEP, its a national thing, based upon a law passed some time back & SWEP means Severe Weather Emergency Protocol, and it coomes into effect when the weather reaches zero degrees.
The Vegas Diner was part of Viva.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool ok so has Viba gone too? I haven’t been back to BPL in awhile
Great video as always,Valentines day ❤,falls on the same day as Ash Wednesday, anybody giving anything up
Just have to have the valentine's chocs the day before to scoff them before you give them up for lent on Wednesday, lol. Not to mention the pancakes.
Hi Steven is the Catholic club still.open ? Used to go in there on saint Patrick's day
I don’t think the population of Bpool is big but only when the transient people return, is it lively.
you have to wonder that at what point the council will say no more bars , or re they just knocking stuff down to create more bar spaces ?.
thanks Stephen for another great video
We have been looking for you out and about this weekend but unfortunately not seen you about 😢😢
Thanks again for another great vlog Stephen i hope you are well at last you got to where it was all kicking off lol
