- Ukraine’s President Zelensky said his country had a “chance of victory” after the US House of Representatives finally approved billions of dollars in new US military aid to help combat Russia's invasion.
The much-delayed measure had vocal opponents in Congress and it took a fragile bipartisan deal to get the £49bn package through.
Republicans said more than a third would be dedicated to replenishing weapons and ammunition. It's likely to include air defence systems, mid to long-range missiles and artillery shells.
It is unclear when it will arrive.
The package will now go to the Senate, which is expected to pass it within the next few days before President Joe Biden signs it into law.
Ukraine, which relies on Western weapons, desperately needs the aid as it struggles to contain Russian troops, who have been making steady advances in recent weeks.

USA did win in Afghanistan. USSR invaded. Then USA, UK & Arab countries supported their proxies (Mujahideen) & they beat the Soviets. Exactly the same thing is happening in Ukraine. That's why Ukraine is going to win.
A similar thing happened in Vietnam except the Soviets were using the proxies (Viet Cong) to fight the USA. In the last Afghanistan conflict, the hearts & minds of the millions of Afghanistans was against USA (due to USA giving weapons to Israel etc) & they were in favour of Islam. Therefore the Taliban returned.

The Russian military is bigger and better equipped now than it was in 2022. The Russian factories can produce more artillery shells than the U.S. and all NATO countries combined. Russia manufacturing and industrial facilities are on a solid military footing. The U.S. and NATO countries don’t have the industrial capacity that they once did.
Russia is still unable to produce any of the more advanced chips for their smart weapons. And without that, their ammo is just--ammo. Old ammo, 40% failure rate, occasionally blowing up the artillery used to fire it.

“A team of researchers at the University of Adelaide have found that as many as 80 percent of tweets about the 2022 Russia-Ukraine invasion in its early weeks were part of a covert propaganda campaign originating from automated fake ‘bot’ accounts.
An anti-Russia propaganda campaign originating from a ‘bot army’ of fake automated Twitter accounts flooded the internet at the start of the war. The research shows of the more than 5-million tweets studied, 90.2 percent of all tweets (both bot and non-bot) came from accounts that were pro-Ukraine, with fewer than 7 percent of the accounts being classed as pro-Russian.
The university researchers also found these automated tweets had been purposely used to drive up fear amongst people targeted by them, boosting a high level of statistically measurable ‘angst’ in the online discourse.
The research team analysed a massively unprecedented 5,203,746 tweets, sent with key hashtags, in the first two weeks of the Russian invasion of Ukraine from 24 February this year. The researchers considered predominately English-language accounts, with a calculated 1.8-million unique Twitter accounts in the dataset posting at least one English-language tweet.
The results were published in August in a research paper, titled “#IStandWithPutin versus #IStandWithUkraine: The interaction of bots and humans in discussion of the Russia/Ukraine war“, by the University of Adelaide’s School of Mathematical Science.
The size of the sample under study, of over 5-million tweets, dwarfs other recent studies of covert propaganda in social media surrounding the Ukraine war.
The little-reported Stanford University/Graphika research on Western disinformation, analysed by Declassified Australia in September, examined just under 300,000 tweets from 146 Twitter accounts. The Meta/Facebook research on Russian disinformation reported widely by mainstream media, including the ABC a fortnight later, looked at 1,600 Facebook accounts.
Reports on the new research have appeared in a few independent media sites, and in Russia’s RT, but not much else, so revealing the burial of stories that don’t fit the desired pro-Western narrative.
This ground-breaking study, exposing a massive anti-Russia social media disinformation campaign, has been effectively ignored by the mainstream Western establishment media. It’s become almost routine during the Russia-Ukraine war.”

It's not just "money", it's the correct equipment. The West was afraid to give the correct equipment to Ukraine in case it upset Russia!! Had they given the long range artillery, planes and missiles very early on, then Russia would have been pushed back across their borders. Tactically and strategically Ukraine are better than the Russians and they are fighting for their children. I began ignoring most of the news regarding this war after it became increasingly obvious the narrative forecast by the media and what actually came to pass were entirely different.

The US has now spent 19.2% of its 2023 Defense Budget on Ukraine. The Total spent to date including the EU should be somewhere north of USD 280 billion and Russia is still conquering territory. It seems there is a lot of spending needed in Ukraine. May be another package of 400 billion should be sent to Ukraine and see if it may make a difference.
