    Starting to be a commercial channel. For the stumps I wanted out of my yard years ago I rented something like this for four hours. Cut the stumps as close to the ground with the chain saw first. And they are gone. Could not use one of these on my mountain property due to all the rocks.😮

    Amazing how technology has advanced for stump removal. So much easier now!

    Nice tool! I'm liking the SG24 so far. 6 stumps down this week. Visibility is the biggest complaint on it. I can't see the wheel when I'm grinding. It's not a mechmaxx problem, its just the way that type is made.

      I agree with the visibility concerns. I added a backup camera and that seemed to help a little, not much. I may need to adjust the viewing angle.

      I’ve really wanted to try the pto grinder. I am guessing that you can work faster with it, but I do like the stand alone grinder for not having to swap implements to use it. I’m glad to hear yours is working well. 👊

    Looks like a good stump grinder at a really reasonable price. I am sure you could buy 3 or 4 of them instead of a PTO grinder but for me one of these are not user-friendly 😅 would be to hard on my body 😉. The PTO grinders are more $ but are user-friendly for someone with physical disabilities that want to get out yhere and get stuff done 😊

      Absolutely! This does a good job, but it is work. Mainly moving the machine around. The actual grinding isn’t to labor intensive, but repositioning and such does wear you out. I’ve done about a dozen stumps now and am getting better at operating it…

    If you liked that little "twist and shout" you'd love the Vermeer Sc70tx. 70hp diesel, tracks and remote control. The bandit 2500t is the same, just different set up & has a backfill blade.

      Oh yeah, a tracked self moving machine would be amazing!

    I had never seen one of these used. I was about to rent a very expensive stump grinder. You just saved me a ton of money.

      @@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead also I was meaning to mention I am in Kentucky as well. And depending on where you are I would be happy to lend a hand if you ever needed the help. I am down here in Pineville.

    I have the MechMaxx PTO stump grinder, there's short comings with that also, like not being able to see what you're doing, hurting you're back looking behind you not to mention stalling the tractor if you take too much of a bite, seeing the SG380 in action I'd go that route other than yet another gasoline engine to break down and maintain after it sits months on end during the winter.

      I did wonder about turning around and trying to watch the pto grinder. I always end up with a neck ache after bush hogging. Overall, for my needs, this has worked out well.

    You are enjoying all the toys, I use a backhoe on the tough stumps/root bundles I cannot get out with dozer. They create termite havens underground around here if you leave the root system in.

    Just a hint. With that unit with the drive belts and guard on the left, sweep from left to right, and start much lower down and on the side of the stump closest to you. I see that you figured a lot of that out on your own and it went much smoother and better.

    Been wanting to purchase one for some time, maybe this is the one. The only thing I saw was maybe the balance of the machine was a little off, it looked like it would be easier to swing back and forth if it was balanced. Still it did an awesome job and thank you for making great content.

    • @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
      @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, it is some work to run it, but I am getting better at it. The slope of the ground can greatly affect the balance too. Overall, I think this is a solid machine.

  • @holland3g1
    @holland3g1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The difference here with the other 13-15hp grinders is that swing arm. The others lock one front wheel and you swing the whole machine. This would be an upgrade for sure. Getting one that can walk on its own is the real win, but I didn't realize that until it was too late ha.

    • @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
      @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, if it would pull itself this would really be the perfect setup. It works well, but it will wear you out running it all day having to push it around.

    Given the time to get the experience, I think having one for daily use would be great until you run out of stumps. Good info as usual. Take care and stay safe. PS: tornado warning here in Petawawa today. Yikes!!!

    Nice Grinder I Own a D&R with a much smaller cutting wheel. The D&R took down a 50" silver Maple Stump below grade. Money Wise I don't know. Time Wise Mek Max wins.

      Nice! I think about 36” is the biggest stump I’ve ground so far. It took me 22 minutes. I feel like that is reasonable. Handy machine to have around!

    I'm in South Central Texas and we have a lot of Limestone up at the surface where the trees grow out of, How do these things and not just this brand do when there's a potential of hitting rock during the stump removal ?

    • @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
      @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hit a few rocks and had no issues. It has replaceable cutting teeth too so I think it’s expected that you’re gonna hit rocks.
