Absolutely Mahvelous Dahling!!! Lol Billy you're fantastic. Great Video, Good choice of tunes at the right moments. Having lived and enjoyed as many have, this video can bring back memories for all. Hopefully they're all good.
Having arrived in LB back in '58 I took great pleasure in watching your video. You've done a terrific job in recording some of the history and the many changes of our city. It's been over 15 yrs since we left town. Your video reminds me that I still have LB sand in my shoes! Thanks for the memories :)
Great photographs and music. Really interesting documentary and visual history of our town. Thank you and congratulations for this fine work. Joseph Behar b. Long Beach: 1942
Thank you so much. This was made from my love for this town. It makes me smile and have warm hearted feelings to invoke the same feelings in others. Thank you once again...
this is a great tribute to Long Beach! People who have spent their school years have especially deep feelings for the place that you don't usually find elseware... I remember 'Seidels on the boardwalk, the ski ball and greyhound races. We used to get alot of prizes and collect TONS of coupons. In the summer there were fireworks every week. I remember a lot of nostalgia.
Love it, love it, love it. Raised in LB till I was 15. I still miss it soooo much, even though I've been there visiting a few times. I wish I had money to move back and be comfortable.
@ 8:41.. I REMEMBER PIZZA AT GINO'S USED TO BE 70CENTS AND THE STORE NEXT TO IT WAS CALLED MISTER SPORTS.. THE ONLY SNEAKER STORE IN LONG BEACH,, THIS SLIDE IS GREAT.. BRINGS BACK MEMORIES.
Hello, thank you very much for the kind compliments. This is why I made this video, so everyone can take a journey back in time. Too bad you already hired an artist, I am an artist by trade as well and would have loved to do that mural for you. But I do have pictures that I can e-mail to you for the artist to refer to. Thanks once again. Robert
"Long Beach sand in my shoes", that was a good slogan wasnt it....Long Beach has and is going through a lot of changes. Glad you liked the vid, it was a pleasure putting together.
Thanks for the credit Bobby. I put a link to the video on a couple of our pages, including the "Special Collections" page. Might bring you some more traffic. Chuck J. ILoveLBNY website
I am a historian for Nassau County and focus mainly on water towers and air raid fire sirens and Diaphone horns. Does anyone have any more photos of the water towers from decades ago. I don’t need recent photos. Anything between 1925-1970 would be neat! Also. Anyone remember the fire horns in Long Beach? How about the Sirens ? LB had 5 sirens ... 1 on a pole about every 1/4 mile down Park Ave and a side street. I think they were yellow and on poles. I haven’t seen them or heard the fire horns since 1985.
Just so everyone knows...this isnt the original soundtrack that I made for this video. TH-cam removed my audio (Frank Sinatra, The Wanderers and thr Beatles. If you would like an original copy let me know. Thanks...Rob R (Sonny Boy Pics)
My Pleasure. I will get in touch with you when I am finished with my mini documentary. Also, I have a really nice video of the boardwalk accompanied by music. The one I have on here had to be sped up to under ten minutes, but the regular speed one is very nice. I could send it to you if you would like.
Thank you very much. Thats an idea (channel 12). I am actually working on a mini documentary of Long Beach. Probably going to take me a year to complete. Keep an eye out for it. Thank you once again..... Robert.
8:10.. i REMEMBER THAT HURRICANE... I THINK THAT WAS HURRICANE GLORIA. I WAS LIKE 8 YRS OLD AND I LIVED ON BROADWAY AND IT FLOODED ALL THE WAY TO THE 1ST FLOOR.
@ronniemass At the same time, there was a time when people could not walk on the boardwalk after 9 pm without the worry of getting mugged and worse. Long Beach was dirty and decrepit in the 70's and 80's. Mentally disabled housing lined the boardwalk, fights all the time, etc, etc. Long Beach has come a Looooong way and is one of the hottest spots in New York. Dont get me wrong, I used to love the wild times when I was young and I cant stand the lack of parking from over crowding and tourist's.
Thank you very much. It was truly a pleasure to put this together. I am working on a Mini documentary this summer.

@ronniemass (continued) But you have to take some bad for a lot of good. I love it here and there's no place I'd rather call home.
