I had the privilege of working with Caitlin on this track, and, to all that question the direction she took with this cover, let me clarify that she brought a true reverence for both the song and the artist to this project. She felt that there was a certain untouchability to the original. So, instead, she sought to infuse these beautiful lyrics with her own, unique sound. It was a directional change, not in the pursuit of betterment, but out of respect and awe to the original's poignancy.
I like this cover and her approach. There is already a great original where she can not improve in any way. So why not do things in her own way? This is really a good cover in my opinion.

If I had heard The National's version first, I would probably agree with you, but this is the first version I heard and I love it. A lot of people had the same problem with Caitlin's cover of The Arctic Monkeys' "Piledriver Waltz", but since I heard her version first I didn't hear anything wrong with it.

Wheres the passion?..wheres the lost and found pain Matt built into the song?..If your gonna cover this you can't leave that out..you really need to sense Matt's emotion so deep before attempting it..
