I had the privilege of working with Caitlin on this track, and, to all that question the direction she took with this cover, let me clarify that she brought a true reverence for both the song and the artist to this project. She felt that there was a certain untouchability to the original. So, instead, she sought to infuse these beautiful lyrics with her own, unique sound. It was a directional change, not in the pursuit of betterment, but out of respect and awe to the original's poignancy.
I like this cover and her approach. There is already a great original where she can not improve in any way. So why not do things in her own way? This is really a good cover in my opinion.
I love both versions but always gravitate to Caitlins. I’m not sure of her story or why she never soared, but the stuff she put out all holds up and still finds regular rotation in my ears.
A bit too happy but not everybody felt "this pain" in their life. It's not a bad thing. You have a beautiful voice, your eyes and goergous smile melted my heart like butter in a frying pan. Great job. Thank you!
caitlin should just put out a record of covers every year between her self -penned records.she's a remarkable interpreter and has great taste.i'd subscribe to this...
seems like a lot of people think , the cover doesn't sound as sad as it should. maybe that's because of the video. The first time I heard it was on soundcloud, and it really touched my deepest emotions. I remember playing it over and over again on soundcloud, the first time I heard it. I love The National, but his woman gives a different feel to it.
If I had heard The National's version first, I would probably agree with you, but this is the first version I heard and I love it. A lot of people had the same problem with Caitlin's cover of The Arctic Monkeys' "Piledriver Waltz", but since I heard her version first I didn't hear anything wrong with it.
where can i buy this in canada? amazon says its only available in the us and im seriously killing my data plan listening to this on youtube all the time!
fcuking helll... youtube just dicked me big time. Love Catilin Rose, she' class. Nice to hear people my age trying to sound like the past., that's what I'm trying to do
+Ryan Moses (summerteeth99) Listen again mate, she's really got something. Like all great stuff, for example The National, it takes a few listens to get it, but once you do........
The beginning sounds like she doesn't wants to sing it at all, and the expression in the video looks like she's been forced to sing, such an injustice to a great song.
Wheres the passion?..wheres the lost and found pain Matt built into the song?..If your gonna cover this you can't leave that out..you really need to sense Matt's emotion so deep before attempting it..

What a beautiful cover.
Thanks for the insight. It's good.

I can't not sing along to 'now I only think about Los Angeles when the sun kicks out'. She nailed it! Beautiful
I love this cover. I love all of Trouble Will Find Me, but this, this is like finding your best friend when you walked into a room of strangers.

Cool, has a magical mystery tour vibe to it.
thank you

This is a brilliant cover. Nothing will match the original on its own terms but you put a great spin on it.
Well done, that was beautiful!

God that voice. listen to her other stuff also.
Jewel
This is great
Michael Bird absolutely. Very promising new artist. Love her voice!
Have you secretly recorded "For the Champagne" as well? I reckon that would be another good song. Lovin this one.
I love You
This is a superlative interpretation. The twang she puts on "Los Angeles" underscores it as a foreign place (which it is for The National).
fcuking helll... youtube just dicked me big time. Love Catilin Rose, she' class. Nice to hear people my age trying to sound like the past., that's what I'm trying to do
I love that Vokalis 😊😊 anybody know his name? 😝😝

joli travail lol
pedestrian cover of an emotional song. an injustice!!

Whole different take on a very gloomy song; there's a lot to like.

Better than the original, love this ladies voice.
i see you got your piano player.you were right.everything sounds better with a piano.;-)
She did soo good. In my opinion it’s better than the original. I think a female voice does more for this song.
Wheres the passion?..wheres the lost and found pain Matt built into the song?..If your gonna cover this you can't leave that out..you really need to sense Matt's emotion so deep before attempting it..
no trumpet :(
I like this version more than the original.
Doesn't really have that same melancholic feeling as the original
Great cover, but can't touch the emotional weight of the original.
Just no. Way to take an amazing song and make it mediocre at best. Some talent that is.
I'm sorry, but the whole special feeling that this song has - you just ruined it.
nice but too optimistic,
Hey How are you doing ? Thanks for being a loyal fan ... Kindly drop me your Email and we can always keep in touch ❣️❣️❣️
This is OK, but the song needs a powerful, committed vocal, and well, this ain't it
kind of boring..needs a more melancholic female voice in my opinion...
this is terrible, totally lost the feel of the original, in fact this has no FEELING at all
Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. I find her voice and passion in her singing to be amazing.
I don't think you know what covers mean
Bad, really bad.
im sorry theres no passion to this cover.
