I don't see what's so hard to understand... Hornsent culture sought to develop a sort of science to achieve godhood. The Crucible, it's aspects and the conflicts between them are all part of the Rtualistic Battle this whole concept represents. As Vaati mentioned in this video, there are intrinsic connections between the God, the vessel and the Lord. And Beasts are drawn to Champions. Dragon Communion fits perfectly at the heart of the Crucible. What could be more devine than defeating a dragon and eating it's heart? Placidussax was Elden Lord before the Elden Star fell upon the Lands Between. His god fled when he was defeated. Marika and Horah Loux either defeated Placidussax and his god for the title or the Gloam-Eyed Queen and her Lord did it before and Makira took it from them. Either way, the process of making warrior/saint jars brings the Cruclible conflict to a nearly microscopic level. Several "conflicting" pieces of flesh are placed inside the jars with pieces of the Numen/Shaman to mend everything into a living mass of power. Self-hating, sorrowful creatures made to be sacrificed. Marika was simply a successful Warrior Saint Jar. Instead of being sacrificed in front of the Gate, she was able to win the ritualistic fight and Ascend. As if the Jar was a cocoon, Marika's essence transformed like a butterfly. That's why her very body is Shattered and the Elden Ring can be seen from the cracks. She was a jar. In the end Godrick was not so wrong as we imagined for taking to grafting. That practice does represent the Law of Regression, whereas the aspects of the Crucible represent Causality
Smoughtown actually has a recent lore video all about godwyn and death in the lands of shadow, he talks about some of the things you brought up like the concept of the psychopomp
You should definitely check out Tarnished Archaeologist or Smoughtown. TA especially has some interesting observation, even if I disagree with some of his theories.
The hornsent people killed the shamans in the name of their religious beliefs. Marika managed to become a god, then proceeded to kill all the hornsent in revenge, thus achieving absolutely nothing and leaving the world without 2 whole cultures. That's why I like Ranni's ending so much, she's like: I don't care about any of you, I'm leaving with my lord, you can do whatever for a thousand years
I don't think Godfrey was a snake for joining the Golden Order with Marika, the hornsent deserved to have their divinity usurped considering what they did to the shamans in order to reach it.
My best understanding of the divine gate, based on this video and other sources, is that it opens into... essentially the source of all life?? A place very far away that is overflowing with power and strange, chaotic heavenly spirits, and which is almost impossible to access from the Lands Between I think for a long time the hornsent believed this place existed but that only small, temporary gateways could open to it in high places at the tops of massive enough natural spirals, like columns of spinning wind or twisting trees, allowing a few spirits through to this side of the divide, which their most devout believers were sometimes capable of allowing to possess their bodies. Something they saw as an incredible honor But eventually the hornsent discovered or created a ritual they believed would let them create a more permanent gateway by building a massive artificial spiral in the form of a tower made with the bodies and souls of thousands upon thousands of prisoners... And it worked! They created a doorway that allowed them to regularly call upon the spirits they worshipped into bodies like the lion dancers. But Marika was also able to use the gateway to basically steal a large amount of the life energy from beyond and, probably with the instructions of the Two Fingers, fashion it into the Elden Ring and the Erdtree, which she could then infuse into her own body and essentially make herself a god
Before the DLC dropped, when we saw the bear roar incantation in a trailer, I tried to call there was going to be a thing called "Bestial communion" alike dragon communion. Not a bad surprise it didn't happen as we got so many uniquely badass weapons, spells, AOW's etc.
2:55 Due to Marika's 'Golden Age', Misbegottens, Omens (kids born with blessings from the crucible), crucible knights were shun because of their connection (and being literal evidence) to the Crucible. Anything similar or exactly the same were considered bad luck or a bad omen because everyone forgot about the crucible and origin of the lands between due to the takeover of the Greater Will.
Can we speculate a meta old/New Testament element to this with Hornsent as old school Jews, golden order as Christianity, and Marika a weird sorta Jesus with a lot of flaws?
I get that feeling as well. Marika reminds me of the struggle Jesus went through until he was crucified (the human aspect). Miquella reminds me of the part of Jesus that became a messiah to people after his crucifixion, his rebirth in a sense (the divine aspect).
Lol I think she meant it like in an aesthetic sense. I think i remember finding it funny bc it sounded similar to trumpet, after I looked it up i still had a bit of a laugh at the whole affair (badum tsss)
love your content, glad you are finally enjoying ds3, hate your (and generally british) pronunciation of Charon. In cz (and in greek) it is something like big letters from these: Hat cAr Rat lAW No .
51:46 well it’s more the babylonians were sinful aholes, and like the hornsent, needed to be humbled. If we’re gonna talk about the Bible then we need to state the context as to why God destroys a section of humanity. So just stick to the reaction I don’t need your philosophy on anti-christian beliefs like everyone else here
Other games: "we use wiki and item description to understand the lore of our game".
Souls player: we have vaati
Marikas people were killed by the hornsent (that we know of), and so Marika made them vilified when she took over as leader of the golden order.

19:53 He's certainly the most memorable boss from my first playthrough. "Two guys in a lion costume" was not on my Elden Ring Bingo card.

Love me some fellow Australian VaatiVidya videos, and nice reaction video Emma keep up the good work. 🥰
Humans when we wake up and remember we have to go to work, "I simply want to be a bear"
He missed his opportunity to title it 'The lore of Elden Ring is horny'
Oop I just finished watching Vaati's video when I saw this lol

Really looking forward to the Messmer video!

Should totally check a youtuber by the name Fatbrett who covers interesting Elden Ring documentaries for both base and dlc theories :)
If she post a react on his video, then I'll watch. Good tip
Yay! Also FYI our boy Max0r has his (FIRST) DLC video out and it's very cool if you wanna get back into those
10/10 timing yay 😁

have you've seen the other vaati videos about the dlc?
You got a new sub 🎉
20:25 I think you should look up the word first before saying it's cool😂

@@HeevaEgo i could see it, maybe a dumpling soup or something like that 😆

@emmalition can u react to the sisters of rot that vaativida done
Fromsoftware does female characters the right way. Instead of girl bosses for girl boss sake they make deep ,flawed but interesting characters
You should rather take on the older lore videos first!
