That bridge used to carry trolleys, that black steel one. That was the route of the Chicago, Aurora & Elgin interurban. That bridge in particular carried the Elgin branch.
Hey Frank. I have always liked the name Geneva. It sounds like quite a nice name. Great trains and horns! I would love to live in that house shown at the beginning of the video on the right.
the bridge was once part of the mainline on the old CA&E trolleyline that ran from elgin to chicago. the line split in downtown wheaton and the other half of the line went from aurora to chicago.
Because the train is pulled out of Chicago and pushed into Chicago. When it is pushed, the crew operates the locomotive from the front passenger car which doubles as a cab control car. Just makes it easier so there is no need for a second engine or turning and wying of the engines.
UP sure seems to use lots of locos on the head end in this area! I have rail fanned in Fremont, NE and typically only see maybe 2 units head end and one on the rear. Working on the Ottumwa, IA subdivision for BNSF, 2 in lead is the standard pretty much.
im not a train enthusist im a truck enthusiast so any truck enthusists out there? were also a dying breed it seems like noone respects truckers anymore and/or watches them anymore we'll im sure glad im not one of them i watch and respect them, but i do like model train layouts there so cool on how much detail you can put into them i plan to build one someday
onnce my parents had to go to a meeting and they where late and on the way they had to wait on a 10 minute train....... even tho my dad did not get payed that day for being late i still love trains
Geez!!! You guys got the horn action on that day...I guess there really is strength in numbers.
0:44 Look at all those EMDs. Not so today on the geneva
I like the station. It is a small, modern building that reminds one of the large classic stations. Good vid, too.

Dam I envy you guys having this kind of traffic on your front door step. I have to drive 600 miles to get anything like it. This is great stuff.

Beautiful my dear friend❤ ..
Great Video thanks.
I think the platform is a bit to short for some passenger-trains. ^^
Its a bridge for the Illinois Prarie Path. Bike/hiking trail.
So many SD70M’s!
they sure use a lot of EMD locomotives (SD70, SD70Ace) on the Geneva don't they? All I see here in San Antonio is AC4400s.
UP RULES!!!!
10-11-09, back to the future huh? LOL. BTW I hired on at 10-11. So I know its good videos.
@crazyrailfan152 : The Elgin branch of the Chicago Aurora & Elgin interurban.
Wow a shit ton of SD70Ms!
I wish passenger service were restored to east tennessee.

Miss the SD70M days...now it's all dirty, crappy GEVOs and AC4400s.
