      Ngl the most iconic way to differentiate between a small Repair Parts Transporter and a Small Repair Parts Transporter.

      There is a large repair parts transporter too, which is a smaller truck loaded with larger parts.

    I'm surprised that you even found aircraft allocations and the stuff they carry down to which order aircraft carries what. I thank the community and yourself for all the info.

    Smallest aircraft that could move any part of a Patriot Launcher or Radar in the 1980's without taking bits off the trailers was the C-5. The C-141 could move them with a bit of disassembly.

    Once again, American strategic airlift capabilities are simply mindboggling to think about

    Awesome stuff, pretty similar to how I did it, but you can deploy an entire battery in 7 C17s. I deployed a Patriot Battalion with super limited resources. It takes a lot of math.

    I never thought that this many sorties are required for that amount of Patriots.
    Now I understand a little more why the transportation command is close to its limits...

    We only have 238 C-17s in the entire USAF and 52 C-5s. A good 1/4 to 1/3 of those wouldnt be flyable at a given time. So its more like 180 C-17s and 34 C-5s. Which sounds like just enough to lift 2 patriot batteries + supplies + security + support in one go from your video.

      That's why the USA spends so much to operate forward posts next to its competitors doorsteps. Way easier and effective.

    I saw a comment in a different discussion that the reason US Patriot launchers are on trailers as opposed to vehicle mounted like the Germans is for the purpose of being air mobile. Since they seem to carry the tow vehicle on the same plane as the launcher, I assume that means that the truck mounted version is just too tall to fit as opposed to too heavy?

    • @BattleOrder2
      @BattleOrder2  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      It's a tight squeeze getting the whole assembly into a C-17, but when using the C-141 they had to disconnect the trailers from the HEMTT tractors, remove the outriggers, and the power source for the launcher stations, and the launchers couldn't be loaded. Back when the Patriot was introduced probably only the C-5 could handle a self-propelled Patriot and that'd be disqualifying for a country like the US

    Any plans for a small slice looking into sealifting the patriot, or is that not touched upon in as much detail in the FM?
    Love the graphical representation and breakdown of fitting the MEP in the C-5/C-17's.

      Sealift is pretty much palletize spare equipment in 20ft shipping containers, load trucks onto boat, send boat.

  • @trekt9641
    @trekt9641 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    very interesting, truly sick that you even have allocations
    To somebvody that might know: Why do they carry such few reloads? They ship multiple planes full of high cost specialized equipment and then only have 4 launchers worth of rockets? Seems to me like any enemy right now could oversaturate this with absolute ease - why so few?

    • @infernosgaming8942
      @infernosgaming8942 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

      Most missiles are held in theatre. On arrival more will be flown/driven/railed in. Besides, having more than one or two reloads is overkill since engagements can last all of a few minutes, not enough time to reload and fire again.

      I don’t know if it’s in the current TO&E but historically the Patriot’s fire control platoon HQ had two MANPADS teams

    Does doctrine state whether or not C-130's can be integrated into the airlift package for smaller components like the Humvees, pallets, or personnel?

    • @BattleOrder2
      @BattleOrder2  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I’m sure they could, especially intratheater. Their utility is just limited for a deployment from CONUS and they can’t fit the main parts of the Patriot system so doctrine doesn’t mention them

    I can’t Think of any other channel going this far with such nice visuals
    Patriot Companies sound pretty comically expensive taking 7 17s and 5 5s
    They seriously can’t just pack the C5s Denser?
    Egh, atleast the performance is pretty Good

    Is there an organic Security element, guys to actually protect the direct area, or is that something that is attached from another unit?

    • @BattleOrder2
      @BattleOrder2  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I know in past TO&Es the fire control platoon HQ had two MANPADS teams for point air defense. But for ground security other than the minimum the unit personnel provide infantry can be attached to ADA Task Forces

      A shared pool of activation markers that represents strategic airlift capacity. That way if you are moving a Patriot battery, you have to sacrifice moving something else.
