mustie sent a bunch of us over..this is great fabrication and I like the spires..hope you're able to carry that look through to the sissy bars. You 2 are quite clever with your designs and execution and great narration Dragon..I'll be following your work!
@wildeyednorthernboy Powder coating takes more abuse. Think of it as plastic that is sprayed on then melted. However, I still might paint the frame if I decide to color match it to the rest of the bike.
Looks well on the way! Overbuilt for strength, this is a good thing. Gotta tell ya though, that's a Sportster tank, not a "peanut" tank. The true British peanut only held about a gallon, if ya look 'em up on the 'net you'll see the shape is a bit different.
Man, your living the dream. Can't wait to have my own garage and be able take on projects like this. Btw, how did you quantify the force and torque acting on the crossbeam on the top tube section of the frame. You mentioned something about calculating. Just curious, and how that determined the design your decided to go forth. Anyways you sound like you have some engineering and good ol machining experience. Cheers
@mustie1 Thanks cuz! Come down to my neck of the woods and you can use the fixture any time you want! Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if anyone else uses the seat shock,
mustie1 sent me...what i like the most about the bike is YOUR doing the work...i do have a question...what is the reason your going 2 power coat the frame? i know alot of guys power coat car frames but Y not spray the frame the same color of the bike PEEEACE
Excellent build. Thanks for sharing and giving me some inspiration for my current 98 savage build
