Don't know how we ever survived without your videos.Learned truck loads of helpfull information from them all.You have done your job to the max.Keep golden always David out.
That heat is a lot to take, especially when the only option to cool down is, to lay in a pool full of starving leeches. I really like all of your videos, you have a distinct talent for interesting story telling. Perhaps those who disliked you, got lost looking for a sewing class. Keep up the great work and thanks for your effort.
Glad you got some. Even in the heat. Those leeches are relentless! You need gloves! Can’t wait to see your gold. Looks like some cooler weather and rain is coming in a week. That should help the fires get under control.
Digging out those rocks, reminds me of life. Never give up and you will win. As for the leech's, I grew up in Northern Ontario Canada. As kids we always had salt, and a jar along when we went swimming. When we came out of the lakes, any lakes there were blood suckers ( leaches), on our feet the most and any other part of your body. Sprinkle a little salt on them wait, and they would fall off into the jar with water. We had bait for fishing. No! we never freaked out when they were on us. They had their snack before we had our meal of pickerel, bass, or pike, Cheers
Mate you are a champion. Breve and inspirational. For the past 10years I have had no work life balance, your vids and exceptional knowledge combined with your unique way of explaining how gold works has given me an opportunity to pursue a new hobby. I love the bush and have over the years many many years walked right over it. Thanks to you I now know enough to re visit some of those place, marked on my maps with a new intention in mind. My wife has also taken an interest in your videos, and given her blessings to go for it. She also said I'm not aloud to have an old moldy HAT.......dame it, but it is moldy. Thank you very much Criss and Grizz
Hello Chris, leeches when attached for any length of time inject chemicals in the wound to keep blood flowing and infect the wound. Blood is difficult to stop after removing the leech and spot becomes extremely itchy.Salt sprinkled on them will force them to detach .Wear rubber boots when stepping in the water, they are a nuisance. When removing rocks, brush them off, lot of flood gold is stuck on surface , especially when rough . Wishing Good Luck, George
I was not expecting that many leeches Chris, and yes they are harmless as long as you get them off right away, just that bleeding afterwards that won't stop. I've scratched the bird's heads and they're currently screaming kiss kiss as I type this. Stay well, nice spot you found there I can't wait to see you have a serious go at it!
Bloody 'ell, your an animal out in that heat working in hot rocks and less than stellar air conditions with those fires burning. Stay safe and watch out for those Funnel Web Spiders too.
If I may be so bold to offer some suggestions, they would be: 1. I wear long sleeved shirts all year around partly because I dislike sunscreen & partly because a cotton, drill short has a SPF of 80+ & the collar can be turned up to help protect the back of my neck, 2. If you are bitten by a leech, one of the side effects is a persistant itch where the leech has latched on. The best treatment I have found for the itch of insect & leech bites is Rid insect repellant. It also helps keep the leeches away in the first place. 3. Rid is also good to place on your boots to stop leeches climbing past your socks & latching on to your legs & ankles. Once again, Rid treats any itches there too. Your book sounds interesting too. I often find that reading about a hobby or other activity encourages me to get off my backside & pursue the activity so your bok might be helpful that way too. Cheers, Keith.
A better way to deal with the heat is to soak the shamaugh in the water and put it on just like you have it. the breeze that is blowing will REALLY put a chill to the body. I have one that I use when it gets hot here in the high deserts of New Mexico, USA. I can work ten times as long in the intense heat with it than without it. I have been using this method for 4 years now and it has never failed to perform. I could not survive without it in the summer....it also keeps me warm in the winter. Dude, soak the shamaugh. luv the videos.
I'm watching this in northern New South Wales and it's raining and I'm cold in the middle of the day , you can handle high heat if it's dry heat ,that humidity is what kills me
Lovely start to 2020, Here at home in Sweden it is winter with ice & snow but for the summer it is good to wash in the streams! Too bad it's almost impossible to find any gold and what's available is just micro, micro, micro flakes. :D
Always learning more about prospecting and mining history, watching your videos are always helpful. following you Klesh, Paulie, Dan Hurd, 2 toes, and Jeff Williams.
Hi Chris - love your videos mate. Thank you. I prospect near Nundle in NSW and lack of water is the main problem up here. There has been 99mill so far this month and the Peel River is flowing for the first time in 2 years so that is great for the community as well as the fossickers. Re the beating sun - I had a couple of melanomas a few years ago so even on days like the one in this video I wear long sleeves and long pants. Keep safe Chris and thanks again
Chris , i had an idea. It is for when your panning out your soil to find the gold if any. Items needed : 1. Approximately five feet maybe a bit more of screen from a window. 2. Four fiberglass rods ( max thickness 1/4 inch about three feet in length. 3. Bag of small zip ties. 4. A very good pair of scissors. To assemble: Lay out screen and cut to desired height. Place rods , one at each end, the other two dividing the screen space equally. Zip tie rods in place, then trim zip ties. To deploy: Unroll make shift barrier in a half circle and set in the water. This should give you an area in the water to pan safely from all but the tiniest of leaches. Let me know what you think.
OMG buddy was it raining leeches???🤠😬 i do enjoy the bits of narration mixed with the video. It definitely separates your videos from the amateurs👍 job well done. Cheers from Massachusetts
you'd think a guy would be not so happy to see lead in the pan, nope i am happy as heck when i do see it. you have shown me that bro, and i thank you. the shiny is'nt to far behind that lead showing up huh. well happy day to you. im gonna take the dogs out in the sierras again, got a new creek with hard packed gravel in the cracks ,I am so excited---- hangtown mark
I have "Neck Coolers " it's a cloth tube (about 1" around and 18" long) that has 2 tablespoons of gel pellets the size of shot pellets. When set in water the pellets swell with water and fill the tube then I put it around my neck. The water evaporates and cools the neck helping keep me cooler on the hottest days in the Arizona desert.
Thanks for all the information on that area. Sorry to see your country with all the fire and smoke. Gold is nice, Keep on doing that prospecting. Even with your sun towel.😊😎👍👍👌👌⛏⛏
I actually downloaded the E-book a couple of weeks back, haven’t had a chance to read it properly but had a quick flick through and looks full of all the information I’ve been looking to find. So I can take my son on some gold hunting adventures.
Didn't know you had leeches in Victoria, got a few on me years ago when I stopped at a cloud forest on the way to Byron Bay,had stopped at Nimbin on the way up,so my senses were slightly dulled if you know what I mean.. All the best from Thaxted,Essex,England!
Definitely great looking gravel once you got that first rock out mate. I teach my buddy the same stuff. Look for the different colour layers in the gravel and take note how much gold is coming from that particular layer. Ps. Panned a 2.3g nugget from a crevice about a week ago. I shrieked. New spot.
Great job sir. Stay cool under there and drink baby drink not beer as FGW.. lol.. but H2O 😉 That heavy Christmas dinner did come in handy popping that rock! ✌️PT
Cool channel.. very informative Chriso! You definitely have a lot of knowledge in the geographical field...and prospecting. I have family in Albury so I know what you mean with the heat brother...shout out from Melbourne!!
Man I honestly just enjoy your vids. You’re a story teller man. A talent that captures our interest and helps us learn and be entertained. I learn a bunch from each one dude. I actually thought of you and grizzly and your other fur kids last week. We had to help our little man Quinton pass on. And I just wanted to say, give Griz and the others some big love and ear rubs from me and the fam man. It’s a quiet home without our best friend. Love your work bro. 👊
Chris You are doing fantastic work. We need more young blokes getting interested in this, in the end, moneymaking hobby, rather than ice and other soul destroying drugs.Regards George
Nothing better than scratching a good crack. Crevicing for gold is also fun as well. Another entertaining, informative video Chris, thanks mate. 42 degree days to bring us a vid? Its appreciated :)
To us folks here in the states we see these nature programs where it seems like everything in the bush going to kill you. Do you ever see many of these venomous snakes and spiders that we always hear about on TV?
Hi Chris, Thanks for the vid. As always I learn something from your vids and from the comments below. The heat has slowed this old fart down a bit. I spent some time out with Crouch in the heat and storms the other day, he found a bit. The water was up a bit, so as normal I got none. I think he is heading your way on his big prospecting trip around Aus. Dennis
I used to get leeches on me when I was a kid, playing around in the muddier parts of the creek. Ours, in southwestern Ontario, Canada were completely black as I remember it. Some kids would freak out and scream but we just pulled the leeches off, we usually just called them, "bloodsuckers" not leeches. Nice video.
I had a leech in my shoes panning, it attached many times due to my movement. Foot was size of football next day. Lol. Great suggestion lead an close to gold
Nice one Chris So it’s hot and bush fires still ay hmm Should be fine by the time I get there Not a bad score that little lot yew I went up to my spot done 15 pans gold in every one of them Putting vid up this week Keep em coming mate yew Crouch out
I turned up today to finish a crevice I found gold in and it's in 2 feet of water, I think I might have to pump out the water. I'm curious as to what I'll find at the bottom, if it has a bottom and doesn't change direction another two or three times.
That looks like it's going to be a great spot to keep prospecting. Thanks for the video and stay safe with the fires. Give grizzly a pat on the head for me.
Cheers Chris! How do you deal with snakes when you're out fossicking around all that tall grass and the only water source? Up here in Alaska we only have to really worry about bears. Also, I feel your pain! I just got back from S.A. and it was pushing 50 celsius just before I left. Ridiculous! Adelaide Hills and K.I. had major fires.

wow.. nice outdoor video with original outdoor sounds, without any annoying music.
like it.
Looks so nice and warm there. We just got a foot of snow no gold for awhile here. Thanks for the fun!!!

I had one attach to my leg last year and it bled for 30 hours. Very annoying!
Sounds hot! Cold and rainy here in Maine ! Best water packed with snow.
Nice decent crevices, not mucking around there. I bet there is a good find down deep along there for sure!

Well you know, gold.
I’ll make sure to smuggle a budgie for ya, Chris! 😂😂

Please be safe and as far as the heat dampen that towel a bit so the wind will cool you. Works for me when working in the heat.
If I may be so bold to offer some suggestions, they would be:

I normally wear long sleeves all the time but my wardrobe was bare of them this trip.
Good advice on the leaches.

Thanks dude for all your tips. You are the Costa of Gold.
Another great video, these videos keep me (fairly) sane, during the Yukon winter.
Love the video. You look like great spirits to get back out hunting...
Leeches are no worse than a bee sting but even though they are annoying they are an important part of the ecosystem
43 degrees Centigrade is almost 108 F. That's pretty toasty to be shoveling gravel. Can't even hop in leech creek to cool off! Brutal.
Gold gold panning in a 111°F are you crazy!!!
Lol... Ahhh yes The definition of commitment.
Nah, its australia. This is standard summer weather
Truly enjoyed the gold , creeks and leeches...
Glad ya made it through the fires
Brave soul. Can't wait for more podcasts.
Another excellent vid Chris hope the weather has helped control the fires and an excellent series on help vids

Be safe and good fortune with the fires.

@@VoGusProspecting im sure I have lugged one of those suckers miles, you are right it ,is so nice to have one if you need it
Cheers Chris!
Snakes just move on if you make noise, nothing to it.
@@VoGusProspecting I'm headed into the bush in April so very good to know! Cheers!
wow cool coin great vid sweet gold congrats
Nice one Mate. You should smash it with the higbanker might be a few grams there. Happy hunting
Not enough dirt to bank, its all in the bedrock.
That sand had a bit, maybe under it.
@@SouthernCrossGO AHhhhhh but sooooo far from the carrrrrr lol
If I end up getting down that way soon, I might bring the quad and we can get a banker in there for ya ;)
Great video mate, makes me want to get out on a creek.
Awesome day on the creek sans the leachs
looked like you could pry the first rock out from the downstream side...maybe use a rock for a fulcrum.
Leeches they would fetch you $2.75 a dozen in the U.S . Fishing bait up here. You need to find a market there. Black gold in your pan. Lol 👍 love your videos, thank you. Keep up the great work.
