    At first I was like "Food & Drink 30 minutes? This is insane!" Then I watched it. The depth of these mechanics & the fact that the game explains literally nothing at all are baffling. This is an excellent tutorial! Finally I know why I'm constantly running out of seeds. And so much more.

    I'd spent 30 hours (still having fun) pottering around and doing it all wrong with the stockpiles and work orders until watching this video. Thank for you very much fine sir =)

    Great video, I've played about one hour now and I was wondering how to set priorities for stockpiles. It's different than Rimworld but seems much more powerful.

    Please cough away from the mic and speak into it. I have to crank the volume up because your speaking voice is nearly a whisper then your coughs ring through at full volume

    The wood blocks were unavailable to make the workshops with because they were already under orders to be hauled

  • @oxspit
    @oxspit ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm learning a lot here, also, I think you can use the blocks as soon as they are dropped in the stockpile and not before, so that's why you couldn't use it in the first three buildings because it was being carried when you checked so they weren't avialable.

    I'm really torn on this game...There are things about it I really like, but it still feels like a half-baked product. Hidden mechanisms or game mecahnics in games CAN be cool if they enrich gameplay in a way that isn't designed to meerely cause frustration and re-start cycling (where a person plays a map for 30 minutes, realize they absolutely hate something about it, delete it and restart.)
    1) How to address dwarf needs isn't addressed in game. And any game that relies on external wikipedia or youtube creators to make the game ....not suck...is the result of lazy game design.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally get you. But I have to say: In this case it's not lazy game design, merely just one coder involved. DF was for the longest time a 2 man project, backed by the community. That's where the half baked aspect comes from.
      I really hope the success on Steam leads to a more streamlined and user friendly version of DF. Cause I agree, it's right now impossible to learn the game without outside sources. And that's really crappy. Just wanted to point out that there is hope.

    I set the aquifer to be dug but I have waited a while and no one is digging. The notification I'm getting is digging designation canceled damp stone found x2.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to re-apply the digging order. Sadly the game deletes the first command if it's gonna dig into aquifers - safety first. Just slap it on once again and it'll work.

    I like the idea of a Planter's Assistant, due to death being a thing. He never Plants, but he Harvests so he gains Planting Experience... so one day, when needed, he can Plant and I don't lose as much.
    Obviously I slow the growth of my Main Planter a bit, since he is only doing 50% of the Harvesting, but if an emergency happens and he's out I have some one and don't start completely over at Level 0 or 1, dropping the yields to the floor.
    And since he's only needed when Harvesting, he's still available for other Work. It's not like it's that consuming. He can be a Jack Of All Trades type, go Mine this, go Cut Tree that, make some Practice Weapons that don't matter. Now get over here and help Harvest.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Shells can be used to make crafts at the Craftsdwarf Workshop, they can be used for decorating items and they are also important for dwarves in strange moods (thats when they wanna create an artifact), cause sometimes they also need shells.
      You can make even some armor out of it, which is quite decent if you don't happen to have any metal. Shells are versatile :D
